The 2008 global financial crisis may have killed off some banks, but others have emerged even stronger. Whatever you may think about the banking industry, one fact is clear: the sector is a huge consumer of energy, from data centers to the lighting of a firm’s offices across the globe and of course, employee travel. From Tokyo to Frankfurt, banks are huge energy hogs and leave a long trail of emissions.
To that end, the global finance giant Bank of America announced yesterday that it has set a goal of reducing its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 15 percent by 2015 based on the company’s 2010 baseline. BofA’s push is another example of the bank’s strong record on energy issues. In the United States, Bank of America reduced GHG emissions 18% between 2004 and 2009. Then there is the real estate–Bank of America occupies over 13.2 million square feet of LEED-certified space, including the platinum-rated One Bryant Park (pictured) high-rise in New York City. So how will Bank of America continue its record of reducing energy consumption and in turn, GHG emissions? The answer lies in green building, supply chain efficiency, and internal employee engagement.
Some of Bank of America’s initiatives include the following:
An increase in energy efficiency within both data centers and employees’ individual computers.
Improved lighting and HVAC systems throughout its offices.
Entering educational partnerships with organizations like the Pew Center on Global Climate Change that train employees how to find potential energy savings within the organization.

I hate cars… I know those words sound blasphemous to many people, but that’s the way I’ve always felt. Grandpa used to say “if they get you from point A to Point B who cares what you’re driving”. Personally, I’ve always thought of automobiles as either death traps or money pits. Let’s face it, almost everyone can think of someone who has died behind (or in front) of the wheel.
Still, with all this detestation I found myself Saturday at the Palais des congres checking out the 2011 instalment of the Montréal International Auto-Show. My curiosity was peaked not by the overpriced Ferraris or Bentleys, but by the promise of a new beginning, a revolution in the auto industry. My hatred of everything on four wheels could never trump my love of the environment (or my abhorrence toward oil companies).
One of the first cars I saw...

http://branddict.com/2010/08/03/mercedes-vito-e-cell-electric-vans-are-being-produced/
Do still remember the Mercedes Vito, electric car vans type used as taxis in London? As promised by Mercedes, Mercedes Vito finally began produced by E-Cell this year with a limited number of only 100 units in the year 2011 but will start produced by as many as 2,000 units. As an electric car, Vito E-Cell can be used as long as 130 km for all distances is rechargeable and has fulfilled the needs of average customers who normally use the car for about 50-80 km per day. To own rechargeable, Vito E-Cell took about six hours to fully charged by using special rechargeable whereas when using the rechargeable appliance with the electricity in the house then it took two fold (12 hours). Unfortunately, the maximum speed at Vito E-Cell is only 80 km / h but it is enough when it comes to urban use is usually only able to reach speeds up to 20 km / hr.http://branddict.com/2010/08/03/mercedes-vito-e-cell-electric-vans-are-being-produced/... more
