Sure, Winona Ryder may be on her press rounds for Black Swan and The Dilemma (in theaters January 14), but there’s something about her presence that is welcoming and very geisty.
Her interview in GQ was quite compelling. Her 10-minute stint in Black Swan is crucial, scathing, and commanding. Her turn as Spock’s mama in J.J.’s Star Trek redux was a foot back in the door into pop culture. It wasn’t until last night that I realized how critical Winona is to the world of pop culture.
She was a guest on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and she was unbelievably awkward — but endearing and genuine. Although a little bit painful to watch, I realized that it was her squirmy quirkiness and distinct alto-toned whiny overtures that made us fall in love with her in the first place.

A sequel to Heathers, the 1988 Michael Lehmann/Dan Waters film about teenage angst, murder and explosions, is likely going to happen, or so says returning actress Winona Ryder. We'd verify it, but a quick search proves everyone is out-meta-reporting each other already.
Instead, we scoured through the material and found our single favorite bit of text that accurately describes how a majority of online sites--including us--function for material.
Dread Central? Play yourself off:
According to Us Magazine, in an interview that will be published in the July issue of Empire, Ryder had this to say about that:
So. What is wrong with this statement? Thematically, nothing at all. In fact, this is text book on how one acredits and gives props to other sites for their exclusive material and reporting. The thing that kills me is that Empire Online doesn't have a teaser for this interview. Instead, it was leaked via their PR team in snippets to US Magazine as a means of generating hype to buy a print edition of the paper.
And it works.
Even PerezHilton came out with his claws ready. But the meat of the matter: there's no interview. It's speculation regurgitated about an interview nearly a month away that had only one cosmetic nut to pop: that Winona Ryder may or may not be working on an unconfirmed sequel to a film she made with the same writer (Dan Waters_ and director. And it's pretty apparent all three are desperate for the same remake after Sex and Death 101 and Flakes, which were pathetic attempts at retaining a culturally defining film with zero idea how.
Hell, Flakes even had Zooey Deschanel and was able to flop like Nemo on a hot plate. There's no reason to make a sequel. There's no reason not air the full interview at Empire. And this is how Online Media Works in an attempt to further "Print Media."
See you tomorrow!

They're all involved in one of the craziest lawsuits you've ever heard of.
San Jose gamer Erik Estavillo is suing World of Warcraft makers because their popular MMPORG is a "harmful virtual environment" that may cause alienation.
To prove this point, the gamer is casting a few celebrities that might help him out.
Estavillo has subpoeanaed Depeche Mode's Martin L. Gore "since he himself has been known to be sad, lonely, and alienated, as can be seen in the songs he writes." He also called Winona Ryder to testify because her appreciation for Catcher in the Rye will make her a relevant witness "to how alienation in the book can tie to alienation in real live [sic]/video games such as World of Warcraft."
The gamer is asking for $1 million in punitive damages. Good luck!

Blake Lively's on the big screen again, and this time there are no traveling pants. In fact, sometimes she's wearing no pants at all, but there are chain collars, leather restraints and retro undies galore.
In 'The Private Lives of Pippa Lee,' Blake plays a runaway, Pippa, who seeks refuge with her lesbian aunt and dominatrix lover. Soon S. is drugged out, starring in S&M movies and crawling around on the floor on a leash. Luckily a much older lover (Alan Arkin) comes to her rescue.
Present-day Pippa is played by Robin Wright (Blake's the younger version in flashbacks), and the cast includes Julianne Moore, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder and Mario Bella. The movie premiered in February at the Berlin Film Festival and is set to open in limited release in the US November 27.
Here are some pics of Blake wearing a leash, getting spanked and naked with Alan Arkin. Scroll down for the trailer.Blake Lively's on the big screen again, and this time there are no traveling... more

And by 'stretched the truth' I mean outright lied. Director of "Heathers" Michael Lehmann shut down that rumour once and for all in an interview with Movieline.
"I never thought it made sense to see a sequel to a movie which took place in a specific time and specific place and in which many of the characters got killed off." says Lehmann.
And everyone breathes a collective sigh of relief. Except Winona and Christian Slater, who'd probably been banking on the whole thing. And by 'stretched the truth' I mean outright lied. Director of... more

Channel 4 have launched a new online animation site called 4mations.tv
Hate! is an original commission for 4mations, it's basically a spoof advert for a celebrity magazine, dishing all the star soil that's fit to print.
Disclaimer: I wrote it, so this is some shamless self promotion. If enough people watch it and say 'this is awesome' we might get a feature film out of it. Or book tokens. Or a postcard with a topless lady on it.Channel 4 have launched a new online animation site called 4mations.tv
