The Oakland Athletics have been wheeling and dealing since the end of the 2007 season. Some of the moves have been met with praise by A’s fanatics, while others have caused plenty of rumbling amongst the faithful fans in green and gold. Gio Gonzalez got his first Major League career start, unfortunately for him and the A’s, it was also his first career loss as well. The 22 year old pitcher, just called up from the Sacramento River Cats, pitched 6 innings, letting up 4 earned runs on 4 hits and 2 walks, and 1 home run while striking out 4 batters in the loss. The only problem was the first inning, where he let up a three-run homer to Rod Barajas...Gio Gonzalez got his first Major League career start, unfortunately for him and the... more

Another loss for the A’s makes it now 8 in a row, and this one has to be more frustrating for the players than the past 7. Wow, I absolutely cannot believe it...
He was in Florida to be best man at a wedding and he passed away...
He was a very promising talent...
When he first came up with Tampa Bay, he surprised everyone in 2001, when Roger Clemens was wailing on everyone with a 20-1 record before the final two weeks of the season, Clemens got bested in his final two starts against the Devil Rays, Tanyon Sturtze beat the modern dynasty era Yankees for loss number 2, and in the beginning of October, Joe Kennedy bested the Yankees giving up 0 earned runs in 6 innings...
He also impressed everyone being one of the league leaders in shutout wins in 2002...
At the beginning of this season, he pitched the final exhibition against the Giants where Bonds homered off him twice and the A's still won that exhibition...
He was always fun to watch pitch....
And I am deeply saddened by this tragedyWow, I absolutely cannot believe it...
