Here is another tabloid news story debunked, as BBC Radio 1 denied a report by The Sun on Saturday that they were planning to drop popular breakfast show presenter Chris Moyles saying "He has a hugely successful show with over seven million listeners, and he added more listeners in the last Rajar figures".
Chris is aiming to be the longest serving breakfast show presenter on the stations history (of which Tony Blackburn is currently stands at 5 years and 9 months).

It's been 30 years since the Sugarhill Gang released "Rapper's Delight", which is widely considered the original hip hop song. So to commemorate this milestone, BBC's 1Xtra and Radio 1 pulled together a panel of 50 hip hop DJs, writers, aficionados and artists (including include Dizzee Rascal, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Zane Lowe, and Tim Westwood) to vote for their favourite "most hip hop people" ever. They then compiled the ultimate top 30 list which is totally hip hop, but, as the ladies over at Bitch Buzz have pointed out, it's lacking mention of ANY female hip hop artists... or women at all! What up with that? Considering there's room for Barack Obama (arguably hip hop, but not as an artist), why not room for some hip hop mamas that made huge contributions to hip hop's cultural history? Essentially these experts are just reinforcing the misogynistic record associated with the genre -- they seem to suggest that there's no room in hip hop for women. I beg to differ!
Here's a list of women that Bitch Buzz thinks should be included (and I second their opinions):
1) Why not consider Sylvia Robinson, who put the Sugarhill Gang together and ran Sugarhill Records, the label that… oh snap, put out Rapper’s Delight?
2) Missy Elliott? I mean seriously, come on!
3) Mary J Blige
4) Foxy Brown
5) Queen Latifah
6) Eve
7) Sister Soulja
8) Gwendolyn Pough (author of some stellar books on hip hop and feminism – try Check It While I Wreck It)
9) Jessica Care Moore (hip hop poet extraordinaire who has worked with most of 1Xtra’s top 10)

Its about this event i did called Sofa Sessions with a DJ called Mary Anne Hobbs. It was an amazing event, a night where young people who are interested in the creative arts get to Q & A an industry icon.
And also figured a lot of what content i want to start bringing, talking about certain topics and bringing you video's of what's going on in the London creative scene.

The longstanding BBC Radio 1 DJ Grooverider has been sentenced to serve four years in a Dubai prison after he was caught flying into the country in the possession of 2.16g of marijuana and explicit pornography.
Grooverider, real name Raymond Bingham, has been an instrumental part in Britain's dance music culture, being hailed by many as the 'Godfather' of drum and bass as well as gaining respect for the BBC radio show he has co-hosted with Fabio for a number of years.
Many believed Grooverider could have been granted a 'royal pardon' due to his notoriety as a world famous DJ, but it seems that the UAE are maintaining their 'no tolerance' policy on drugs following the controversial sentencing of a man caught with a 0.03g of marijuana in the tread of his shoe earlier this month. We hear the song every year and we rejoice at it's melody and all sing along in a merry swagger. Some lyrics of the song, which we've been singing for years, are now going to be dubbed out this Christmas when they are broadcast over the waves of Radio 1.
The line in question has been highlighted in my less than subtle headline. Radio 1 say they are blanking the word out "because some members of the audience might find it offensive." The song isn't far from being a British institution and the instant and exciting rhythm of the song is no doubt going to suffer.
Is this a move for the better or political correctness gone mad? Fire up your webcam's and let's have this debate full throttle! We hear the song every year and we rejoice at it's melody and all sing along in a... more
World famous BBC DJ and Drum and Bass ambassador Grooverider has been arrested in Dubai after being caught with explicit pornography and marijuana in his record bag. Grooverider, real name, Raymond Bingham is famous for his weekly Drum and Bass show on BBC Radio 1 with long time DJ partner Fabio. He was detained at Dubai Airport and is now facing the possibility of a jail sentence or deportation following his expected court appearance this week. Drugs and pornography are banned in the Arab State and their possession and use therefore carry harsh penalties, Grooverider's Myspace website will surely not help his cause; it features links to naked models as well as pictures which show him to be smoking what seems to be a spliff.
What's more shocking...his stupidity at attempting to smuggle contraband or his seemingly 'un-badboy' name of Raymond?
Update:
Raymond "Grooverider" Bingham has admitted drugs charges in his first appearance at a Dubai court. He admitted to have had 2.16grams of marijuana in his possession on flying into Dubai for a November DJ gig. It is expected Groove will receive a four-year sentence, although he has hired the same local lawyer who gained a pardon for a similar international artist.
