I feel sorry for Glenn Beck.
I really do. The reason is that I’m beginning to come to the awful realization that he is actually crazy. Of course I’m basing this solely on my observation of his lunatic ravings, body language and general all-around demeanor… but I think I’m right. I don’t mean crazy like Sarah Palin, Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly, Bachmann and the Donald are crazy. I mean actually “mental institution” crazy. Because of this, I feel very bad about the way I have parodied and caricatured him. I realize now that I have been making fun of a person with an actual mental illness. Has any one else noticed this condition on his part? Fox has dumped him primarily out of economical concerns of course but I can’t help but feel that someone up in the ivory towers of Fox Snooze might have also realized the mental illness. He needs help and it’s no laughing matter. He’s a millionaire who has gone mad. A potentially bad pairing…money and madness. His radio show will continue and perhaps another TV show and therein lies the menace because some people ACTUALLY believe his ravings. Who knows what that could lead to.
We have all watched his slow immersion into the inky, murky, dark depths of a fanatical religious fervor of late. The world is coming to an end. God is watching. The man is CRAZY!
Some may remember, a while back, he suddenly discovered the “hidden” symbolism of the sculpted doors and other decor festooning Rockefeller Center’s architecture. He spoke of the “Fascist- Communist” iconography. “Fascist-Communist”? He went on to speak of the Rivera mural as if it was there at Rockefeller Center. He said it had been commissioned by that Liberal John D. Rockefeller. Let me repeat that… the Liberal John D. Rockefeller. LIBERAL … John D. Rockefeller.
I rest my case.

Nicholas White was a thirty-four-year-old production manager at Business Week. He was working late on a special assignment and wanted a cigarette. He told a colleague that he’d be right back and, leaving his jacket behind, headed downstairs. Thus commenced the longest smoke break of Nicholas White’s life, a harrowing experience that began at around eleven o’clock on a Friday night in October, 1999.
The Business Week offices were located on the forty-third floor of the McGraw-Hill Building in mid-town Manhattan. When White finished his cigarette, he returned to the lobby, got into Elevator Car No. 30 and pressed the button marked 43. The car accelerated. It was an express elevator, with no stops below the thirty-ninth floor, and the building was deserted. But after a moment, White felt a jolt. The lights went out, immediately flashed on again and then the elevator stopped.
He was eventually trapped in Car 30 for forty-one hours. He never did learn why the elevator stopped. There was talk of a power dip, but nothing definite. Meanwhile, White no longer has his job, which he’d held for fifteen years, and he’s lost all contact with his former colleagues. Now, he’s lost his apartment, spent all his money, and searched, mostly in vain, for paying work. White is currently unemployed.
