Religious affiliation and economic standing are intertwined, according to data compiled the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. Indeed, the economic disparities among those of different religions are significantly larger than the differences among states and even larger than those among different racial groups.
As a New York Times Magazine review of the data reveals, 67 percent of Reform Jewish households made more than $75,000, at the time the data was collected; by way of comparison, 31 percent of the population as a whole made as much. Next were Hindus, at 65 percent, and third Conservative Jews, at 57 percent.
In contrast, 20 percent or fewer of those who were Pentecostals, Jehovah’s Witnesses and Baptists made more than $75,000. A color-coded graphic in the New York Times Magazine further illustrates the differences.

Slavoj Zizek is a Slovenian post-modern philosopher and psychonalayst as well as one of the foremost cultural critics operating in the world today. He holds a chair at the Institute for Sociology in Ljubljana as well as being a returning professor at the European Graduate School in Saas Fee Switzerland. There is little in contemporary thought that Zizek has not explored on some level. From communism to maoism, film studies to literature, and from Lenin to the issue of torture in the post-9/11 world, Zizek's work has, and continues to, inform the dialogue that surrounds them. Zizek's first book in English translation, The Sublime Object of Ideology, examines the issues surrounding the placement of "sublime objects" in a regime's iconography which allow it to transgress or alter commonly accepted moral law or thought. It is these objects—be it God, Fuhrer, Dear Leader or Land, the Flag, Democracy—that allow the regimes to "self-sanctify" their actions. While much of Zizek's work is strictly philosophical or pyschoanalytical dealing with Hegel, Kant, Freud and Lacan, since 9/11 his work has become increasingly political, directly referencing the illegal actions taken by the Bush administration and the complicit nature of the European regimes of Blair, Sarkozy and Berlusconi. His latest title, analyzing the financial meltdown of 2009, First As Tragedy, Then As Farce, will be released in November of 2009.

Last month a story came to light that was truly odd.The story as it was told was that a jewish woman filed charges against a Palistinian man she had slept with, claiming it was rape because he lied to her about his backround.Saber Kushour, a Palastinian muslim was arrested, tried, and sentenced to 18 months of prison on the charge of rape by deception.

As Saber Kushour appeals the decision, more information about this case has been brought forward.As it turns out the charge of rape by deception was issued as a plea, not a reach to persecute an innocent man.previous accounts presented the sex to be consentual despite it being a legitimate rape, while using the case as an example of how racist a society Israel is.At the end of the day, in fact Mr Kushour had not only been accused based on a legitimate charge, but wasnt punished to the fullest extent of Israeli law.The reality is a Palastinian man raped an Israeli woman and was locked away.Not beheaded,Not stoned,Not suffering any injustice.This case as it turns out is no different than it would have been had it happened here.Credibility of all parties was evaluated, a rape kit was done, and he admited having sex, that the rape kit concluded to be forced.
The irony is if it were not for Israel having a rape by deception law to use, Mr Kushour would have been worse off.

As the opportunity for peace rapidly approaches, the palastinians of the west bank have killed four israeli civilians.I guess this news doesnt generate as much advertising revenue as it does when the IDF kills palastinians.
The medias bias must all be in my head right.
Fox will certainly mention it every hour, especially as it helps stoke the flames of islamophobia.
Msnbc will avoid it like the plague in fear of alienating its pro palastinian and jewish audiance.

For quite some time now the actual death toll of iraqi civilians has been a matter of debate.The american governmental standard places that number at 30 thousand, with other agencies tightly tied to our government offering similar stats like no more than 50 thousand.Iraq's official count is at 40 thousand.
(side not:iraqi official stated that in iraq being dead and having a death warrant are inseperable.like no one ever died in iraq with out them taking count.do they have a cencus?)
Arab nations, extreme left media, and terrorist organizations claim the numbers begin in the millions.similarly those numbers dont recognize insurgents and regional comflict seperate from us.
On David Letterman, John McCain put that number between 200 thousand and 300 thousand.It seems more than reasonable that McCains figures are probably most accurate, being as he was briefed by the homeland security on the campaign trail when he said it.The question wasnt one of interest at the time and McCain would be under no pressure to flubb them.
We have killed between two hundred and three hundred thousand civilians in iraq, not to mention the figures from Afganastan wich we have been working at for longer, and dipped in to Pakistan.
if one conservatively estimates that the stats from Afganastan are equal, the United States of America has killed half a million civilians in a decade span.
While these figures arent finalized and will certainly change (higher if anything) as we are still engaged in "the war on terror", it raises a question for me.
How can we be a freedom loving democracy defending our homeland killing half a million people, while israel has killed similar numbers over sixty two years and is an oppressive aparthied occupation.

You don’t often get a piece of cable TV this good, so it’s worth transcribing and posting in its entirety.
Yesterday, two Netanyahu propagandists appeared on MSNBC prior to Glenn Greenwald, painting a picture of the flotilla raid that was so grossly distorted it was unrecognizable as the incident that is being rightfully condemned around the world. Host Eliot Spitzer vigorously agreed with them, and then brought them back once again to counter Glenn after his appearance.
Spitzer was not nearly so conciliatory with Glenn, and during the interview, clips of the selectively edited IDF propaganda videos and their helpful English subtitles played continuously. In a rare and contentious eight minute cable news segment, Glenn decided to set the record straight:
ELIOT SPITZER: Now let’s bring in Glenn Greenwald from Salon.com who calls Israel’s actions quote, “heinous and repugnant” and, well let me just ask you, you have ships approaching Gaza, controlled by Hamas; Hamas is a terrorist organization, Israel did (I don’t think this is disputed) offer to have the ships inspected, if there was no contraband on board, let the ships continue on to Gaza. Why was that not a reasonable offer, why should Israel not intercede to stop the flow of contraband?
GLENN GREENWALD: Well, first of all, international waters, which is where this ship was, is not owned by Israel. It is a crime, a war crime, to attack a ship in international waters that has not engaged in any aggression, and no one claims that these ships were. I mean, what you’re describing is absolute anarchy, that any country can just say, “no ships can go here, and if you disobey our order, we’re going to attack you, board your ship forcefully, and kill anybody who does resist.”
SPITZER: Well, let me interr…
GREENWALD: No, let me just finish because you just had on 10 minutes of uninterrupted pro-Israeli propaganda filled with falsehoods. The blockade is one of the most brutal and inhumane blockades that we’ve seen in the last generation. Look at UN reports that are objective, not Netanyahu aides, that say that 60% of the babies in Palestine have anemia, 65% of the population is food insecure; the entire Palestinian economy has collapsed as a result of this blockade. Israel routinely refuses to permit all sorts of imports including food, chocolate, french fries, anything but the barest necessities to keep those prisoners — which is what they are — alive…
SPITZER: Glenn, I hear you. Hold on one second. Let’s go back to Ruth Wedgewood, who is really a top-flight intellect and scholar of international law, said that nations that are a war are permitted in international water to enforce a blockade and to check to see if contraband is on board. Now, nobody has said that Israel has prevented humanitarian materials to flow through to Gaza. You may be saying there’s not enough…

An Unknown Rockstar- (A Scary “Horror-Blog” in time for Halloween)
I’ve been playing music “professionally” for just about twenty years now. I put the word “professionally” in quotes because, unlike most jobs –in which the transition from amateur to professional is defined as the point at which you actually begin to make money -as a musician, I believe you’re a professional the moment you decide to quit your job and move in with your girlfriend; because, money or no money, that’s the point you begin to work at it full-time.
If we’re going strictly on the “money” scale, then I guess you could say I turned professional about a month ago. See, over the years, even though I did countless things that made me appear “professional,” such as, appearing on the Howard Stern Show w/ Gene Simmons, playing shows w/ The Strokes, No Doubt, Duran Duran, Stone Temple Pilots, etc., appearing on Carson Daly five times, Dennis Miller three times, having my image digitally re-created for Playboy’s first video game, partnering w/ Napster, testifying on Capitol Hill alongside Alanis Morissette, (breath), speaking at Harvard, touring England, and getting my music featured on shows like Dawson’s Creek, Party of Five, Joan of Arcadia, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, The Real World, and the Today Show, believe it or not, I’ve barely broken even. Scary, right? My mom thinks so, but that’s not the scary part.
A few weeks ago I learned my song, Birds of a Feather, was selected as the theme to the new Jenna Elfman sitcom, Accidentally on Purpose, on CBS. It’s great money and I’m finally a professional! Now here comes the scary part. The theme song is only five seconds long! Horrifying, right? Eat a steady diet of Ramen Noodles for twenty years to get your music out there and when you finally do, it’s practically subliminal (Actually, we ate sushi but Cup o’ Soup sounds better). Am I telling you this because, as a Jew, I feel like whining about the fact that I’m getting paid good money each week for doing nothing? You betcha. But, that’s not the real reason. I’m telling you this because I’m trying to frighten those of you -the ones with the home studios whose friends tell you you’re good but who really think you’re incredibly mediocre –you who are thinking about quitting your job at Starbucks and moving in with your girlfriend and pursuing a career in music, into thinking again.
It’s taken me almost twenty-years of crappy clubs and crappier groupies to get a whopping five seconds to the masses, so, if I can scare just one of you wannabe’s into not taking up a slot in a club that could possibly be filled by a qualified, talented musician, I’d consider this time well spent. My only regret is that this didn’t reach Chad Kroeger in time.
Getting back to me, am I broke? Not anymore. Am I famous? Mmm, guess not. But, hey, at least you know who I am. And, whether you do it by accident or on purpose, don’t forget to watch the show! Boo!
