"An unknown virus has destroyed almost the entire human population. Oblivious to the true nature of the disease, the only remaining survivors escape to the sea. In great ships, they set off in search of uninhabited land. So begins the exodus, led by one man ..."

This is a hand-drawn, cut out animation made with color pencil on 11x14 paper. It was shot with a digital video camera with the program FrameThief, in order to link the animation with the sound. The walking figure was an actual drawing cut out and its joints were linked together by thin copper wire. During the close up, I made about 10 different mouths that I kept replacing in order to get the stork to look like he was really talking. For each new frame, I would take the previous mouth off and put in a completely new one. This took a lot of trial and error in order to get it look right. Now, aside from technicality, this animation is about a stork who is frustrated by the misconceptions that humans pin upon storks, so this particular, "feather flustered stork," speaks on their behalf. Enjoy! This is a hand-drawn, cut out animation made with color pencil on 11x14 paper. It was... more

This is a completely hand-drawn animation I made on a SINGLE piece of 14x17 paper with charcoal and charcoal pencil, shot with a digital video camera with program FrameThief, so that I could sync the animation with the music, by Beethoven. There are over 300 drawings streamed together, all done on this single canvas! In order to make each new, additional drawing and line of animation, I would erase the previous drawing and draw right over it, very meticulously, so as not to disturb the rest of the drawing and background. I used this technique, also utilized by popular iconic artist William Kentridge, in order to create a trace of smeared movement from all of the previous drawings. It was truthfully a pretty grueling process, which I worked on for multiple straight days. I was not sure how it would turn out until I had completed the entire animation and played it back with the music, but I was ultimately and utterly satisfied with the final result! I think it is my best work yet. :) I have more animations if you would like to see them, and would be willing to make another if requested! Thank you for watching.
NOTE, IMPORTANT:
THIS ANIMATION WAS MEANT TO BE SEEN ON A LARGE SCREEN, LIKE A TV SET OR A PROJECTOR SCREEN, SO PLEASE TRY TO VIEW IT ON THE LARGEST SCREEN YOU CAN FOR THE BEST POSSIBLE VISUAL EXPERIENCE! ALSO, BE SURE TO HAVE THE SOUND UP BECAUSE THE MUSIC IS SOFT. THANK YOU!
Sincerely, Caroline

Common thinking imagines a table when it sees a table. However, what we experienced is an interpretation or rebuilt version of the original. The representation of our body does become related to the imaginative of the real or image or remembered space, which we compose with our senses. We continue our ordinary lives in such illusions every instant when we can not share the variety of the experiences in our worlds, which we scheme with our senses.
In this two-minutes video, we see after a while that the woman, whom we cannot understand why she is running away, is actually chasing someone. While being amused by this flight and chase, the audience is thrilled by the reality of the story that they will conceive at the end of the video, which is properly speaking taking place on a ---bleeeeeeeeeeep---. =)) ;)Common thinking imagines a table when it sees a table. This is a rough version of my first serious animation project I did for a graphics and animation class. I realize the first half is very rough, but it gets better, I promise. By the time Warren Sonbert was only eighteen years old, he already had become an acclaimed experimental filmmaker in the heady 1960s New York City avant-garde art world and in the city's artistically booming East Village. His later films became more cynically paradoxical, with films solely comprised of harsh successions of cinematic shots delivered to audiences in total silence. He courageously challenged us to confront the inevitable sense of futility in our lives.
This thoughtful article includes photographs, a music video and "Postcards From Warren," a cutting-edge, experimental animated video tribute to Walter Sonbert.By the time Warren Sonbert was only eighteen years old, he already had become an... more
