There are few US writers who have spent as much time in Palestine as Kathleen and Bill Christison. Over the years they've provided an indispensable overview of life in the occupied territories and their assessment of what's happening today is grim indeed. Settlements are continuing apace and there doesn't appear to be a serious or even a minor shift in US policy. Former CIA employees, they have traveled to the region regularly and have authored numerous books and articles, most recently, Palestine in Pieces: Graphic Perspectives on the Israeli Occupation. There are few US writers who have spent as much time in Palestine as Kathleen and Bill... more

Israel Navy prepares to attack Iran with consent from the West.
The only surprise that the Obama Administration is launching a proxy war by giving Israel the nod to strike Iran is that this could be a surprise.Israel Navy prepares to attack Iran with consent from the West.

There is nothing to replace the 'show me' paradigm. And President Obama ought to know a thing or two about seeing is believing. Take the situation of his reversing a previous decision to show photos of torture that had remained classified under the Bush administration; prior to having set his eyes on said photos, the President was adamant that there be transparency in our government, even if it meant that we had to face the unpleasant and the uncomfortable. There is nothing to replace the 'show me' paradigm. Things are moving awfully fast, yet it is not certain whether or not President Obama will be ready to present his Middle East peace plan when he delivers his speech to the Muslim World from Egypt.
Since Netanyahu's visit, we have seen some interesting firsts taking place, the most telling sign was that of Secretary of State Clinton reiterating the President's position during a press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Ali Aboul Gheit at her side. This is what she said:
'With respect to settlements, the President was very clear when Prime Minister Netanyahu was here. He wants to see a stop to settlements – not some settlements, not outposts, not natural growth exceptions. We think it is in the best interests of the effort that we are engaged in that settlement expansion cease. That is our position. That is what we have communicated very clearly, not only to the Israelis but to the Palestinians and others. And we intend to press that point.'Things are moving awfully fast, yet it is not certain whether or not President Obama... more

Obama's appointment of George Mitchell as special Middle East envoy may signal a step in the right direction regarding U.S. policy toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But there remain questions as to whether Mitchell is up to the task and whether the Obama administration is willing to put some muscle into the process.
Mitchell was a prominent Maine attorney, Democratic Party activist, and U.S. district judge prior to being appointed to the U.S. Senate in 1980 following President Jimmy Carter's selection of Senator Edmund Muskie as his secretary of State. He was subsequently elected to two full terms, quickly rising in the ranks to serve as majority leader between 1989 and 1995.Obama's appointment of George Mitchell as special Middle East envoy may signal a... more

When TV sold its soul to look the other way when McGwire cranked them out of the park hordes of bandwagonners into the park, in front of the TV, when Fox had to resort to gimicks to please those new bandwagon jumpers, when hordes more were seduced by Barry to join in the seduction of an unnatural gluttony of splash landings, should the media who desperately pounced on those stories like lions on a 600 ton zebra (zebras don't grow to be 600 tons unless someone juiced those zebras) be held responsible for cheapening the game?
Did the media have a stake in avoiding the topic in fear of scaring fans away from their coverage of the game, the "Scooter," "Catcher cam," "who Jeter and A-Rod are nailing stories," "Rafael Palmeiro's Viagra?"
This same pack of lions ready to pounce whenever A-Rod is caught eating a sandwich with no mustard on it, are they to blame for what the game has become?
The daughter of a former World Series hero weighs in on the topic. When TV sold its soul to look the other way when McGwire cranked them out of the park... more

This interesting story has a very unique interactive with it allowing you to explore rrlations between items in it (they call it a relationship map)...
So we have Barry Bonds connected to his lawyers, Allen Ruby and Christina Arguedas...
Arguedas is mapped to OJ Simpson and Tim Montgomery - Marion "Juice" Jones' boyfriend (which I find out in the map by clicking on his name)
Also in the map - Willie Mays (Barry Bonds' godfather) Christina Argueda's domestic partner (Carole Migden, a state senator in California)...
Fascinating way to explore the news.
Here is the top of the pun laden story....
...........
Barry Bonds struck out on his first attempt to hire a high-powered lawyer to defend him against federal perjury charges.
Negotiations broke down between the home run king and John Keker, a celebrated criminal defense attorney. Reports were that Bonds was put off by Keker?s fee ? said to be $900 an hour ? and other issues.
But Bonds stepped up to the plate again, and by the end of last week he had assembled a solid defense team of experienced lawyers.
Led by Bay Area lawyers Allen Ruby and Christina Arguedas, the six lawyers have been involved in a wide variety of highly publicized cases.

It pains me to see Chuck Knoblauch's name sullied with the likes of Adam Riggs, Cody McCay, and Armando Rios... I mean Hundley, Ismael Valdez, and Pettite's names were swirling around for years.
But the tragic tale of how Chuck Knoblauch's ended up here is a true tragedy which started when he threw an errant throw into the stands beaning Keith Olbermann's mother in the head.
And who could blame David Justice?
Who wouldn't load up on HGH after being dumped by Halle Berry? It pains me to see Chuck Knoblauch's name sullied with the likes of Adam Riggs,... more
