The amazing architecture of the Internet ? all of its cables, servers and other structures ? is a complicated network that includes people and organizations such as ICANN, the Internet Society, the ITU, the UN and other groups. As governments and corporations struggle for control, the web of individuals who value an open Internet are working together to find ways to keep it free while also contending with key issues like internationalization, security and interoperability. As the Internet grows, various layers are continually added to make it useful while also increasing its speed, security and ability to carry data ? its architecture and the intricacies of its operation are becoming exponentially more complex. This video explaining critical Internet resources features interviews shot at the 2007 Internet Governance Forum in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Rio IGF was the second of five annual global events that attract stakeholders from all walks of life who gathered to discuss issues tied to the future of information and communications technologies.

Most people in developed nations recognize the "digital divide" separating people with access to the Internet and its wealth of information from those who have few resources. We want a world of "digital inclusion." How can we allow more people access to the Internet? What are the infrastructure barriers? What are the cost barriers? What about people in developing countries, rural areas, islands? And what about the threat of economic barriers that could impede access to parts or all of the Internet?
