Green Party Presidential nominee Cynthia McKinney and her Vice Presidential Nominee Rosa Clemente have launched their petition drive to get on the ballot in New York.
Mrs. Clemente (35) is the youngest candidate on a national ticket, and hip hop artist.
McKinney/Clemente lead a large number of Green Party U.S. House and U.S. Senate candidates on the ballot across America. Among those Green Party candidates, Neeraj Nigam, of Virginia's Independent Greens (pictured), on the ballot for congress in Virginia's 10th congressional district near Washington D.C.
The Green Party is the United States third largest political party with Greens elected to local office throughout the nation.
Greens advocate "More Candidates, Less Apathy" putting regular citizens on the ballot for office.
Greens call for cutting addiction to foreign oil by building a nationwide network of modern, innovative high speed magnetic levitation rail. "We need More Trains, Less Traffic". Trains as fast as planes built in the interstate medians.

Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney reassumed the national political stage Saturday, winning the presidential nomination of the Green Party of the United States at the party's national convention here.
Amid chants of "Paint The White House Green" and signs proclaiming, "Truth. McKinney 2008," McKinney revved up a crowd of about 350 Green Party delegates from 38 states who elected her on the first ballot.
"I am asking you to vote your conscience, vote your dreams, vote your future, vote Green," McKinney told the convention in a 30 minute speech following an address by her running mate, hip hop artist and political activist Rosa Clemente.
She was joined by her father, former Georgia representative Billy McKinney; her mother Leola, and her son Coy, on the stage in the elegant Michigan Avenue hall where the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performs,
McKinney, 53, was the odds-on favorite to win the nomination, coming into the convention with a 10-1 delegate lead over her closest rival, Jesse Johnson of West Virginia.
Since last fall, McKinney has campaigned in 30 states on the slogan "Power To The People" and a platform that calls for single-payer universal health care, the immediate withdrawal of American forces from Iraq and Afghanistan, the creation of a Department of Peace, and reparations for African-Americans.
In her address, Clemente, 36, vowed that she and McKinney would fight all "-isms and ideologies that divide us." Clemente jokingly threw down a challenge to the nation's sitting vice president: "Dick Cheney, bring it on."
In her unlikely re-emergence on the national political stage as the presidential nominee of the Green Party, which she joined in 2007 after leaving the Democratic Party where she had served six terms representing DeKalb County's 4th Congressional district, McKinney faces a stiff – extremely long-shot – run at the presidency.
She as much conceded winning the presidency was not her goal in her speech Saturday. She said the thrust of her campaign would be to get 5 percent of the vote in November, effectively establishing the Greens as a third party that would not have to fight state-by-state to get on the ballot every four years.
"We are in this to build a movement," said McKinney to roars from the crowd. "A vote for the Green Party is a vote for the movement that will turn this country right-side-up again."
In Georgia, because the party failed to qualify under state laws, McKinney and Clemente will not be on the ballot in November. Green Party leaders expect she will be on the ballot in 36 states, where ballot qualification rules vary.
David Cobb, who ran for president on the Green Party ticket in 2004 – and pulled in just 0.1 percent of the vote – said Saturday that one of the appeals of McKinney' as a candidate is her name recognition.
"Before she has even won the nomination, she has pulled new members into the party," said Cobb, who introduced McKinney at the convention, praising her work in Congress and for having introduced articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Secretary of State Condolezza Rice. He estimated Green Party membership is about 500,000.
McKinney is the second former member of Congress from Georgia mounting a presidential run this year. Former 7th District Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga.) is running for president on the Libertarian Party ticket.
A lighten-rod political figure, McKinney was defeated in 2006 by the 4th District's present congressman, U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), after a much-publicized run-in with a U.S. Capitol police officer and her accusations that the Bush administration covered up information about the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
"Don't expect me to keep a count of the major flip flops of the other candidates between now and November, I'm sure there will be plenty," McKinney told the crowd. "They are in this flip flop because they have to appear to share our values — while they serve somebody else."

Cynthia McKinney ‘telecommutes’ to her own fundraising event.
Short of an “October Surprise” before the Green Party’s national nominating convention this July, the former congresswoman will be the party’s presidential nominee. She already has enough pledged delegates to take the nomination on the first ballot.
Perhaps nothing better exemplifies her strength as a candidate than an upcoming fundraising event hosted by former Green candidate for Illinois Governor, Rich Whitney. The catfish-dinner event, to be held in Carbondale, Ill., has received media coverage, despite the fact that Ms. McKinney will not even be attending — at least not physically. She will, however, give a teleconference talk with Q&A session after the $10-a-plate meal.
McKinney’s rivals for the Green Party nomination — Jesse Johnson, Kat Swift, and Kent Mesplay — have received far less media attention and donor support. It’s difficult to imagine a fundraising event held by one of them, particularly one for which they would not even be in attendance, would receive media coverage.
Rich Whitney, the catfish-dinner host, received 10% of the vote in his 2006 gubernatorial bid. He recently parted with left-over campaign cash by matching contributions made by individual donors to McKinney’s campaign, up to $250.Cynthia McKinney ‘telecommutes’ to her own fundraising event.

Cynthia McKinney, former congresswoman from Georgia, who is vying for the presidential nomination on the Green Party ticket, spoke at a rally in opposition to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the state of Israel. The following are remarks made by McKinney at the rally outside of the United Nations.
On my birthday last year, I declared my independence from a national leadership that, through its votes in support of the war machine, is now complicit in war crimes, torture, crimes against humanity and crimes against the peace.
I declared my independence from every bomb dropped, every veteran maimed and every child killed.
I noted that the Democratic leadership in Congress had failed to restore this country to constitutional rule by repealing the Patriot Acts, the Secret Evidence Act and the Military Commissions Act.
That it had aided and abetted illegal spying against the American people. And that it took impeachment off the table.
In addition, the Democratic congressional leadership failed to promote the economic integrity of this country by not repealing the Bush tax cuts. They failed to institute a livable wage, Medicare-for-all health care, and gave even more money to the Pentagon as it misuses our hard-earned dollars.
We can add to that list, too, an abject failure to stand up for human rights and dignity.
If the Democratic and Republican leadership won’t respect the right of return for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita survivors, how can we expect them to champion the right of return for Palestinians?
If this country’s leadership tolerates the wanton murder of unarmed Black and Latino men by law enforcement officials—extra-judicial killings—how can we expect them to stop or even speak out against targeted assassinations in the Middle East?
If the Democratic and Republican leadership accept ethnic cleansing in this country by way of gentrification and predatory lending, why should we expect them to put an end to it in Palestine?
If the leadership of this country impedes self-determination for Native peoples in this country, why should we expect them to support Indigenous rights for anyone abroad?
And sadly, the sensationalist corporate media would rather trick us into thinking that reporting on a pastor, a former vice presidential nominee and a former cable TV magnate constitutes this country’s much-needed discussion of its own apartheid past and present, so why should we expect an honest discussion of apartheid and Zionism?
I hope by now it is clear. Our values will never be reflected in public policy as long as our political parties and our country remain hijacked.
Hijacked by false patriots who usurp the applause of the people and all the while betray our values.
I’ve decided that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans will operate any longer as business as usual—not in my name.
That Democrats and Republicans will use my tax dollars and betray my values, not one day longer—not in my name; that neither the Democrats nor the Republicans have earned my most precious political asset—my vote.
And that now is the time to do some things I’ve never done before in order to have some things I’ve never had before.
And so here today, I declare my independence from weapons transfers, including Apache helicopters; F16s; sidewinder, hellfire and Stinger missiles.
I declare my independence from occupation, demolished homes, political prisoners and babies dying at checkpoints.
I declare my independence from U.N. vetoes, expropriated land, stolen resources and the installation of puppet regimes.
I declare my independence from all forms of dehumanization and I am not afraid to speak truth to power.
And I am happy to join with peace-loving people around the world who know that there can be no peace without justice.
Let us never tire in our work for justice.Cynthia McKinney, former congresswoman from Georgia, who is vying for the presidential... more

1:00-2:30 PM, and moving from there to a party in front of Nancy
Pelosi's House, 2640 Broadway (between Scott and Divisadero) from
3:00-4:00 PM.
They are asking everyone to wear something pink and to bring laptops
to sign more people up for the Wexler impeachment petition. Prominent
impeachment activists, Chris Daly, Medea Benjamin, Cindy Sheehan,
Denis Burnstein, Peter Phillips, Cynthia McKinney and many more have

And Second, Shirley Golub, who is challenging Nancy Pelosi for the
Democratic primary nomination in June will be leading an "On The
Table" rally in front of Nancy Pelosi's district office at 450 Golden
Gate Ave this coming Thursday, Feb 21, from 12 noon to 1:00 PM.
Bring your impeachment signs and banners to both events, and Shirley
will be at the Code Pink rally also with the new orange "Impeach
Both!!!" caps, collecting petitions signatures and everything else,
so look for her.
Please come out for one or both of these events. We are at the
critical tipping point right now, with the House finally having voted
out contempt against Bolton and Miers, and it is all because of you.
We need to rally as many people as we can to make a demonstration at
both these events and we can actually make impeachment a reality.
Please take action NOW, so we can win all victories that are supposed
to be ours, and forward this alert as widely as possible.
