It's no surprise that female office workers hate derogatory pet names given to them by some colleagues, but do you know the ones they most despise?
A survey of over 2,500 women found 'babe' was the name they hated being called most, followed by 'love,' 'hun' and 'mate.'
Other disliked pet names - which three quarters of the women polled said they found unacceptable - included; 'chick,' 'Kiddo,' 'Darlin' and 'Poppet'
It also emerged that 93 per cent of women have been called a pet name either by the boss or a male colleague and that 21 percent said it made them feel angry.
But that is nothing… you should hear some of the names the same female office workers reserve for their male bosses.
A spokesman for onepoll.com, which carried out the study, said: ''Women clearly find these pet names patronising and unnecessary.
"Perhaps it is time for guys to take a bit of a reality check and realise that time has moved on. "Many of them are cringe-worthy and dated, for example it is hardly surprising that a woman is going to feel very uncomfortable when a boss in his 50s calls her 'babe' or 'poppet'."

In 1994 Buckley decided to refocus her life, escape from the cold weather, and move to the beautiful Verde Valley in Arizona’s high desert.
She is a poet and writer who plays Native American style flute music and has great respect for the Navajo and other Native American tribes and their respective cultures/heritage.

(Rock Point, AZ) - During July 2009, volunteers from the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Sacramento, CA visited the Navajo Lutheran Mission in Rock Point, AZ to assist the Navajo people with the health of their livestock.
Despite the extreme summer heat and the remote Navajo homes, church members helped deworm and vaccinate 500 sheep and goats plus 200 horses.
The volunteers from the Lutheran Church of the Cross paid for the expense of vaccinating over 700 livestock.
The vaccination program badly needs funding and anyone wish to help should contact the Navajo Lutheran Mission (see contact info below)

The first chapter, Some Evidence for the Truth of Islam, answers some important questions which some people ask:
* Is the Quran truly the literal word of God, revealed by Him?
* Is Muhammad 1 truly a prophet sent by God?
* Is Islam truly a religion from God?
In this chapter, six kinds of evidence are mentioned:
1) The Scientific Miracles in the Holy Quran: This section discusses (with illustrations) some recently discovered scientific facts mentioned in the Holy Quran, which was revealed fourteen centuries ago.
2) The Great Challenge to Produce One Chapter Like the Chapters of the Holy Quran: In the Quran, God challenged all human beings to produce a single chapter like the chapters of the Quran. Ever since the Quran was revealed, fourteen centuries ago, until this day, no one has been able to meet this challenge, even though the smallest chapter in the Quran (Chapter 108) is only ten words.
3) Biblical Prophecies on the Advent of Muhammad , the Prophet of Islam: In this section, some of the Biblical prophecies on the advent of the Prophet Muhammad are discussed.
4) The Verses in the Quran That Mention Future Events Which Later Came to Pass: The Quran mentioned future events which later came to pass, for example, the victory of the Romans over the Persians.
5) Miracles Performed by the Prophet Muhammad : Many miracles were performed by the Prophet Muhammad . These miracles were witnessed by many people.
6) The Simple Life of Muhammad : This clearly indicates that Muhammad was not a false prophet who claimed prophethood to attain material gains, greatness, or power.
From these six kinds of evidence, we conclude that:
* The Quran must be the literal word of God, revealed by Him.
* Muhammad is truly a prophet sent by God.
* Islam is truly a religion from God.
If we would like to know if a religion is true or false, we should not depend on our emotions, feelings, or traditions. Rather, we should depend on our reason and intellect. When God sent the prophets, He supported them with miracles and evidence which proved that they were truly prophets sent by God and hence that the religion they came with is true.
The second chapter, Some Benefits of Islam, mentions some of the benefits that Islam provides for the individual, such as:
1) The Door to Eternal Paradise
2) Salvation from Hellfire
3) Real Happiness and Inner Peace
4) Forgiveness for All Previous Sins.
The third chapter, General Information on Islam, provides general information on Islam, corrects some misconceptions about it, and answers some commonly asked questions, such as:

Islam - Elevation of Women’s Status By Shaykh Ali Al-Timimi
The topic that I was asked to discuss here at McGill University is the elevation of the status of women in Islam.
Many, upon hearing the title of this lecture, might assume it to be an oxymoron because the prevalent idea - at least in the West - is that Islam does not elevate the status of women, but that Islam oppresses and suppresses women. So people might find the title in itself to be shocking or a curiosity at least.
In discussing this topic - since it appears to me that this is a mixed audience of Muslims and non-Muslims - I'd like to make my remarks and comments brief. I will take no more than thirty to forty five minutes, and then allow you an opportunity to ask your questions. Perhaps the question and answer session might be more fruitful in addressing specific accusations, understandings or misunderstandings regarding the status of women in Islam.
As we all know, in the world today, there are - for the overwhelming majority of humanity - basically two world views.
These two views are often in conflict - not only on the personal level where individual human
beings are making choices, but also on the international level in terms of the debate over the authenticity and correctness of these two world views ....
