Houston, Texas - The “Jodie Goes to Sturgis” movie crew heads out on the highway from Stubbs Harley Davidson located in Houston, Texas July 31, 2010 to focus on the motorcycle community and ask the question “What does freedom mean to you?”
Director Baldemar Rodriguez, who just wrapped his first feature film “El Nacional” (a family drama shot in Houston), will direct.
The team of Bun Burners Entertainment, LLC discovered “Jodie” in their search for a story that would inspire others. “Jodie” is a single-lady, a former Blue Star Mom and emergency life care-giver who has overcome domestic abuse, comforted her patients (many who have succombed to their life-threatening diseases) and maintained her indomitable spirit.
“Jodie” discovered Sturgis in 2005 when she took the Harley Davidson riding course, rented a bike and left by herself to Sturgis. She has been back every year since.
“When I am on the open road, I just feel so free and I have enjoyed meeting the people I have met along the way” says Jodie.
Jodie was violently attacked by a felon in 2003 and she fought back when he approached her juvenile son, putting an immediate stop to the attack. The emotional trauma had taken its toll and Jodie discovered a new outlet and confidence in riding a motorcycle.
“Jodie’s story has resonated with many women and men and groups who love hearing about how she continues to celebrate life every year on her annual trek to Sturgis Bike Rally” says one of the producers.
“We believe this film will show a side of the motorcycle community that is rarely seen” says Andy Valadez, Executive Producer, “The biker community is a group that has an incredible bond and our team plans to interview people on the road about their own personal challenges and their belief in the ‘American Dream’”.
