I am wondering, what is the fundamental difference between the citizens at large in Washington and the citizens at large in Oregon? Washington not only passed the DP law last year--without attempts to repeal it--but this year are expanding benefits!

This is quite possibly the most eloquent article I have read to date (IMHO) about the struggle same-sex couples have faced in Oregon since 2004. "It was just over a month ago that Basic Rights Oregon and GLBT folk in our town were celebrating a rousing legal victory over discrimination, injustice and out-of-town conservative interest groups. ...So it was with a resounding and unsurprising thud that the shoe dropped when two Republican state legislators... The other shoe is dropped and the roller coaster carrying over thirteen hundred hopeful, optimistic couples..." There is much more in between this and throughout this article to take in.
