This 16 year old black girl was assaulted after dropping cake on the floor by one of the white security officers at her school. Her wrist was broken cause she dropped a piece of birthday cake on the floor! Do you know what happened to the security officer? Nothing. What happened to the student? She was suspended from school and is being charged with crimes including littering! Her mother was arrested for apparently being aggressive towards the vice prinicipal but the security guard who broke the little girl's arm was not. This is so outrageous. First the Jena 6, then the Megan Williams now this!!! The world has officially gone crazy and the worst part 90% of the media is controlled by people with the same racist ideaology. I was watching CNN the other day and there was a story on about some baseball player signing a kids baseball cap "Yankees suck" but I did not see a damn thing about Megan Williams because America doesnt want to know about a group of good ol Ameican white boys gang raping a young black single mother....and they say that racism is dead. I?m African-American and know this subject far too well. Back when I was a child to early teenage years, I was taught about racism towards another race. I thought until I got older, that racism and prejudice against another race was the only form. Racism is a very board subject coming from the point of view of young adults. Some stories are about race, others about family, all proving that no matter what kind of racism there is, its wrong. So I got a camera and I some of my friends, and we went to the park to shoot. In my project I used the environment to tell my story, and I kept it symbolic. We as human beings need to change the way we think about each other, because we all have to live together and function on this planet. If the constitution is founded on ?All men are created equal?, then that fact needs to be embedded in all of our minds.
It hurts deep when the racism is coming from your own family or race, towards you. Until now, this kind of racism has been ignorance, to me. I?ve had conversations where this has been brought up and it affected me. When I was coming up with the structure, I thought of doing it like a movie and tell a story, but I felt like I would have been making things up, so I kept it natural with real stories from real people. Here it is.

As a result of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, Congress established different mandatory penalties for cocaine and crack cocaine, with significantly higher punishments for crack cocaine offenses. There is a 5-year minimum prison penalty for a first-time trafficking offense involving 5 grams or more of crack cocaine or 500 grams or more of powder cocaine (see top chart above) and a 10-year mandatory minimum penalty for a first-time trafficking offense involving 50 grams or more of crack cocaine or 5,000 grams or more of powder cocaine.
One gram of pure powder cocaine will convert to approximately 0.89 grams of crack cocaine
Historically, the majority of crack cocaine OFFENDERS are black; powder cocaine OFFENDERS are now predominantly Hispanic. ***In spite of the fact that White and Hispanic Americans make up 66% of the people that USE crack????????*******

In 2006, African-Americans accounted for 82 percent of crack cocaine-related arrests, while white and Hispanic offenders accounted for 72 percent of powder cocaine-related arrests
Bottom Line:
1. Members of Congress might need some remedial math, especially on decimals? If 1 gram of powder cocaine = .89 grams of crack cocaine, why is the amount of crack cocaine for five years of jail time (5 grams) 100X less than for powder cocaine (500 grams)?
2. Nobel economist Milton Friedman once called the minimum wage "the most anti-black law on the books." After reading about the effects of ambiguous racism as opposed to overt racism and its effect on the most notoriously polarized groups in this beautiful country of ours...well, it made me think! This country's government has a history of propogating (legalizing even!) this kind of racism (covert) through legislation.
