Back in December activist from Utah Tim DeChristopher disrupted a federal auction for oil and gas leases by bidding for land with money he didn’t have, causing some energy companies pulled out of the bidding, and others had to pay more money.
He thought that the Obama administration might get his back for standing up for the rights of future generations...but he just got charged with two federal felony counts yesterday so I guess not. If convicted, he could face as much as 10 years in prison.Back in December activist from Utah Tim DeChristopher disrupted a federal auction for... more

We have just been offered an incredible opportunity. Worldchanging has been challenged to raise $10,000 in recurring reader pledges by May 15, 2009. If we do, our challenger will support Worldchanging with a $100,000 grant.
This is one of the most important gifts Worldchanging has ever been offered, and we need your support to get it.
We know you want a sustainable future. You know that Worldchanging is a small, frugal nonprofit that does award-winning work exploring the best innovations for solving our most pressing planetary problems. Worldchanging.com's books, media interviews and public talks help advance innovations that make a bright green future possible. And now we're just about to launch into a year of our most important work yet.
That work will stop unless you help us weather the recession. Precisely because we've been such an entrepreneurial nonprofit, earning most of the money to do our work, we have been hit hard by the economic downturn. If we're going to continue, we need your continued support to get us back on solid ground. As a token of our appreciation, we're offering a few exclusive gifts, described below.
We hope we can count on you to help us meet this one-of-a-kind challenge.
Thank you for your contribution.
Sincerely,
Alex Steffen and the Worldchanging TeamWe have just been offered an incredible opportunity. Worldchanging has been challenged... more

"Why did this tour happen?” asked Ringwald. “Why this mad, insane plan to travel across India in a caravan of solar electric cars and jatropha trucks with solar music, art, dance and a potent message for climate solutions? Well ... the world needs crazy ideas to change things, because the conventional way of thinking is not working anymore.”
