I guess the Catholic Church doesn't have any real work to do -- like saving souls or, I dunno, cleaning up its own house.
Catholic bishops announce they have opened an investigation into the Girl Scouts for possibly advocating immoral policies to children, or having alliances with "immoral" groups such as Planned Parenthood.

I was always a sensitive child, my feelings too easily hurt, and that day, I sat alone in the woods nursing some slight or the other. I don't remember why I was brooding, but I do remember feeling mighty sorry for myself.
Miss Hazel (in the South, we always called adults Miss or Mister) sat down on a pine log next to me. But instead of feeding my self-pity, she told me that feeling sorry for myself was not going to get me anywhere worth going in this life. She advised me to exit my pity party, take responsibility for my own feelings and rejoin the other Girl Scouts who were enjoying this particular campout.
Years later, when I wrote my former Girl Scout leader to thank her for these words of wisdom, she bawled like a baby.
Miss Hazel has some good company among the Girl Scout sisterhood. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, astronaut Mae Jemison, network anchor Katie Couric, 10 of 17 women in the United States Senate, 45 of 75 women in the House of Representatives, including Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.) and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas), and Congresswomen Jo Ann Emerson (R-Mo.) and Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Calif.), and 53 percent of all women who own U.S. businesses are former Girl Scouts, according to Girl Scouts of the USA.
All those remarkable women were helped along by a Georgia girl named Juliette Gordon Low who, 100 years ago today, founded the Girl Scouts in Savannah.

In spite of the truth that the Girl Scouts do not promote abortion, homosexuality, paganism, or the like, right-wingers have continued their hate campaign by using social media to encourage a boycott of the group’s annual cookie sales and force local churches to refuse the group a place to meet.

I guess it's the GIRL in "Girl Scouts" that is behind this new GOP attack! thinkingblue
FB member, posts article below and writes on facebook: Just when you thought that Indiana Republicans could not move further to the right, they out did themselves. Apparently the Girl Scouts are now a "radicalized" organization.
Republican calls Girl Scouts 'radicalized'
A lawmaker has sent a letter to fellow Republican members of the Indiana House saying he would not support a resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts because he believes it is a "radicalized organization" that supports abortion and promotes homosexuality.
In a letter obtained by The Journal-Gazette of Fort Wayne on Monday, Rep. Bob Morris of Fort Wayne said he did some research on the Internet and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, allow transgender females to join and encourage sex.
"After talking to some well-informed constituents, I did a small amount of web-based research, and what I found is disturbing," Morris wrote in his letter, which also accused the group of promoting "homosexual lifestyles."
Morris sent the letter to House Republicans on Saturday. MORE HERE http://www.indystar.com/article/20120221/NEWS05/202210325/Republican-calls-Girl-Scouts-radicalized-?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|News|s
Tea Party supporter's will agree with any right-wing nut ... case in point:
A GOP/TP member writes on Facebook:
If one Republican means that the whole state party is farther to the right, than the Democrats must be Genghis Khan and the Thundering Hordes after what was done at the 'Democrat' (GOP code word) National Convention. When the Boy Scouts took the stage they were roundly booed by many delegates.
Typical Right-winger's retort of no explanation just "YA MOMMA WEARS COMBAT BOOTS" rhetoric.
I don’t approve of derision no matter which side it’s coming from…
BUT FACT NUMBER ONE: the Dems booed boy scouts because of the decision by the right-wing majority Supreme Court that ruled the Boy Scouts can ban homosexual leaders… It’s all about tolerance and the GOP/TP does not know the meaning of that word! To hateful bigots like Morris, et al, anyone who doesn’t agree with your ONE-SIDED, DISTORTED BIGOTRY is radical. thinkingblue
REASON FOR BOOOOOO...
The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that the Boy Scouts of America can bar homosexuals from being troop leaders. The justices by a 5-4 vote overturned a New Jersey Supreme Court ruling that the dismissal of a gay Scout leader had been illegal under the state's anti-discrimination law. The Boy Scouts, which also exclude atheists and agnostics as leaders, said it has the right to decide who can join its ranks.
This type of BIGOTRY is so nauseating, no fair-minded human being would ever condone it.

Agreeing with Rep. Bob Morris “R” is agreeing that injustice should thrive.

Minority Republican lawmakers sponsored a resolution this week honoring the 100-year anniversary of the Boy Scouts. This being California, the political equivalent of a school-yard brawl broke out.
Democrats ultimately killed the resolution after criticizing the Boy Scouts for excluding homosexuals. Predictably, Republicans became indignant and accused Democrats of defaming a cherished American institution.
It didn't end there.
Democrats had introduced a resolution of their own honoring the Girl Scouts and included language that noted the organization does not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.
That drew yet more indignation from Republicans, with one GOP lawmaker accusing Democrats of improperly introducing sexuality into what should have been innocent proclamations of support for the two iconic youth groups.
"I would love to honor the Girl Scouts," said Assemblywoman Diane Harkey, R-Laguna Niguel. "I just don't understand why this chamber wants to sexualize children."
The Boy Scout brouhaha started in the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Tuesday. After Republicans introduced the anniversary resolution, some Democratic lawmakers equated the Boy Scouts' policy of excluding gays with racism.
"Were the policy of the Boy Scouts to be that we exclude all African-Americans or Asian-Americans or Latinos, or any minority group, I don't think there would be a single member of the Legislature that would commend them," the Judiciary Committee's chairman, Los Angeles Democrat Mike Feuer, said in an interview later.
The resolution died in committee, wounding Republicans.
The Republicans say they were further incensed when they asked the Democrats to remove the line in the Girl Scouts resolution that honored the organization's acceptance of any girl regardless of her sexual orientation. But the Girl Scouts resolution passed out of the committee unchanged.
"Equality for gays and lesbians shouldn't have to be an issue that's brought down to our children's level," said Assemblyman Curt Hagman, R-Diamond Bar, an Eagle Scout and author of the Boy Scouts resolution. "Political agendas at the Capitol got in the way of this."
Feuer said he was never asked to amend the Girl Scouts resolution, calling the Republican claims "utterly false."
The Girl Scouts resolution advanced Thursday to the Assembly floor, where the partisan sniping continued.
When it was time for the Assembly to vote, Assembly Majority Leader Fiona Ma, D-San Francisco, asked members for a simple voice vote, the typical way to approve resolutions.
But after it passed on the voice vote, Assemblywoman Lori Saldana, a San Diego Democrat who authored the Girl Scouts resolution, asked for an additional roll call vote. That meant each lawmaker's vote would be a matter of record.
Republicans, of course, objected. Hagman said GOP lawmakers wanted to commend the Girl Scouts but did not want be on the record condoning their stance on sexual orientation. The resolution passed the 80-member house 48-4, with most Republicans abstaining.
Girl Scouts of America spokeswoman Michelle Tompkins said the organization was pleased with the honor given by California lawmakers and proud of its long tradition of including anyone.
In the end, California honored the Girl Scouts but not the Boy Scouts — which issued a statement saying it appreciated the effort.
"This is a long-standing societal issue," Boy Scouts spokesman Deron Smith said regarding the group's membership policies.

Scout leaders will be able to give confidential contraceptive advice to under-16s and even hand out emergency condoms on trips.
The Scout Association will tomorrow launched new guidance, aimed at providing sexual health information to its young members for the first time.
Leaders will discuss with Scouts, aged ten-and-a-half to 14, where to obtain contraception, pregnancy testing and how to find local sexual health clinics.
Boys and girls aged 14 and above may be taken on tours of sexual health clinics to 'help to break illusions of what these services are and improve the uptake of advice'.
The shake-up comes as the Government is preparing to introduce compulsory sex education classes in primary schools for children as young as five.
It is designed to help Scouts gain support and resist peer pressure to have sex before they are ready.
But parents and family groups say it will have the opposite effect and encourage boys and girls to become sexually active earlier.
The Scout Association publishes a factsheet tomorrow, outlining the advice that leaders can give.
They should 'try to provide relevant information' if asked about contraceptive methods or local emergency contraception provision by Scouts aged ten-and-a-half and above.
In the Explorer Scout section (ages 14-18), leaders are 'encouraged to have leaflets with information about local contraceptive services with telephone numbers, location details and opening hours'.
New activities have also been launched for this age range, including studying sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhoea, syphilis and chlamydia.
The factsheet states that adults in Scouting have a 'trusted role' in the lives of young people and this makes them a 'potential source of confidential information and advice'.
In a question and answer section for leaders around the guidance, it refers to Scout trips and asks 'do I have to take a supply of condoms with me?'
It says 'no', adding that it is 'only acceptable to have condoms/femedoms available to young people in line with the Fraser guidelines'. The same is true at local Scout campsites.
The Fraser guidelines, cited in the document, give young people under 16 the right to have confidential advice about contraception without parental consent, if certain criteria is met.
They state that an 'adult should only provide contraception if they believe the young person is very likely to begin or continue having intercourse with or without contraception'.Scout leaders will be able to give confidential contraceptive advice to under-16s and... more
