German Chancellor Angela Merkel called photos of German soldiers in Afghanistan playing with a skull ..those involved will be dealt with harshly.
"It is crucial to clarify through a clear and unambiguous reaction that the behavior of German soldiers in Afghanistan is condemnable. There are no excuses," Merkel said in a written statement.
"There is no doubt regarding the pictures that the behavior of German soldiers in Afghanistan damages the reputation of the German Bundeswehr (military), which succeeded in building up a high reputation by being involved in international missions over the last years. The incidence also harms the standing of our country."German Chancellor Angela Merkel called photos of German soldiers in Afghanistan... more

No matter if it is something that you read in a newspaper or a scientific publication or a conversation that you have with a friend, they will raise questions in your mind that you will not be able to answer or that will make you want to learn more about the subject.
Oftentimes, people make you think, challenge your assumptions, and trigger your interest in knowing more about specific topics, populations, etc.
Sometimes, you may want to find answers to controversial social questions; some others, you may want to test someone else's theories or proof certain postulates.
If you think problems through critically, you will constantly find new subjects for investigation.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE & INTERESTS
Your personal experience and interests are a rich source of inspiration and a powerful thrust to pursue research. When you can choose the subject to explore, you should ask yourself "what subject do I want to explore?" and also "what subject do I want to be an explorer of?" Think of questions that are of direct personal interest to you. In Jean Johnson words, "searching seems to be a result of our natural curiosity, our desire to find answers to problems, our urge to question what other s have told us, or perhaps just our need to know more about the unknown…. The result will be not only an additional paper but also an addition to your personal store of knowledge--each helps to define you as a person."
Before deciding on a specific topic, explore one or more subjects, or general areas of study. These subjects may interest you because of what you have read, heard, or seen, or because of what has happened to you or to someone you know. Previous coursework, your hobbies, and previous experiences can be sources of research topics. Even when you are somehow limited in your subject choice (for example, if your professor requires that you write about Welfare Reform), you can approach it from many angles, and find a part of that subject that relates to something you are interested in (in our example, you may want to focus on the impact of new legislation on unemployment or children's health status).
Remember that it is good to start with a long list of subjects that interest you. Then reread it carefully and pick two that appeal to you most, and try to further focus your topic by considering the information that is available (you may not want to choose a topic if all the information is contained in journals written in a language that you don't understand), as well as other constraints that you may face.No matter if it is something that you read in a newspaper or a scientific publication... more

"Ner Doleck" is Hebrew for a lit candle. This song, written and performed by newly discovered Israeli rapper Rinat Guttman is a song of hope, particularly appropriate with Hanukkah around the corner. The message is that as long as the candle remains lit, "tamid efshar letaken," anything can be fixed. A lit candle here refers to life, and as long as one is alive, nothing is beyond repair. Guttman, who is religious, derives the inspiration for these lyrics from the sayings of well known Rabbis.
This is a great song and you have a great future. Can you please upload the lyrics in hebrew? Would be great to understand everything.
This is the moment i've been waiting for... first orthodox jewish girl rapper! i think she's got the potential to be amazing someday! great performance rinat, i'm so proud of you!

200 Dogs Sold at Wisconsin Dog Auction
Dog Auction In Wisconsin Draws Some Protestors
THORP, Wis.– A dog auction held Saturday at a stable near Thorp drew hundreds of people, including some who contended it wasn’t a humane way to sell the animals.
Organizers said about 600 people attended and about 200 dogs were sold. They described the auction as the first of its kind in Wisconsin.
Horst Stables manager Ken Stauffer disputed claims of those who opposed the auction.
“All the dogs we have here are high quality,” Stauffer said. He predicted before the auction that the dogs would go for $100 to $1,000 each.
An animal care inspector from the U.S. Department of Agriculture examined the dogs, he said. He also said the dogs had not been bred for fighting.
According to the bid book, most of the dogs were registered with the American Canine Association or the American Kennel Club.
Auctioneer Kevin Frese said making a purchase at the auction was the same as finding a dog through classified ads, “except here, you’ve got a better selection.”
Michelle Lipski of Oconomowoc said the dogs seemed to be in good health, but she said she was concerned about how they would be treated after being sold.
Those who adopt pets through humane societies often go through a screening process, but at auctions, the highest bidder gets the animal, she said.
“I would bet that some of the people here may be purchasing them for breeding,” she said. “It’s a quality-of-life issue for the dog.”
Lipski and Beth Madunic, also of Oconomowoc, bought 12 dogs and planned to donate them to a local shelter where they would be spayed or neutered and then placed in good homes, Lipski said.

RADIATION BY ANY OTHER NAME IS STILL RADIATION
Today, ALL microwave transmitting dishes and antennas must have radiation stickers on them, if people can become near them. Located on the front nose-cone of aircraft are small warning stickers if they have radar. THe radar MUST be turned off when the aircraft is on the ground, as it is hazardous to ground personnel. Warning stickers use the universal radiation warning symbol, of three triangles inside a circle. This the identical symbol used for radioactive materials. Many in the armed forces know the stories and often unpleasant fate of those that unknowingly walked in front of operating aircraft radar.
Here is a quick list of common sources of radiation:
1. CELL PHONES - Here the antenna is very close to the brain, and many studies have been done on this. Recent studies done in Europe show that tumors can be induced in rats, which are exposed to the same power levels and distances that normal cell phone users are from the phone's antenna.
2. CORDLESS PHONES -
3. GARAGE DOOR OPENERS - when the button is pressed.
4. WIRELESS PDAs and NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS - These work very much like cell phones, with the same potential effects.
5. MICROWAVE ALARM SYSTEM SENSORS - This is one area NO ONE talks about.
6. BLUE TOOTH WIRELESS DEVICES - Operate in the lower microwave region.
7. WIRELESS VIDEO CAMERAS - Operate in the microwave region above analog cell phones.
8. TV EXTENDERS - Used to transmit video and sound without wires from one room to another in a home.
9. SATELLITES - Walk outside, anywhere, and you will be bombarded with RF from satellites, both civilian and military. If you could visibly "see" these sources, you would see points of "light" from the 22,500 mile high Clarke belt of stationary satellites. This belt of satellites rise from the western horizon and arcs across the sky to the east. There will also be hundreds of moving lights in the sky from lower geosynchronous orbits. Some of these are also satellites the military uses that send signals to earth, too. Many military satellites have high-powered optical sensors, with huge telephoto lenses that watch everything from orbit. These satellites orbit about 200 miles up and contrary to public belief, can actually read a newspaper headline from orbit. The portrayal of distant fuzzy images as seen in "Patriot Games" is far from the truth. And these satellites bombard the earth with more RF radiation as they send their data to earth.
10. POLICE RADIOS - Police officers now have antennas on their microphones, also have a similar risk to that of cell phone users since the antenna is located near the head.
11. WALKIE-TALKIE TYPE RADIOS - In decades past, business radios operated in the lower VHF band.
12. DOOR OPENERS - Often used in grocery and discount stores, these open the door when you pass under a microwave motion detector.
13. SECURITY FOR STORES - Used in WalMart, video rental and other stores, these exit portals generate an RF field you are forced to walk through upon entering and exiting the store.
14. CELL TOWERS - Last but not least, cell tower antennas which operate at power levels of about 10 watts FOR EACH ANTENNA on the tower. Some use higher wattage than that. These directional antennas divide a geographical area into cells of service.
There are many more toys, products and devices too numerous to mention here. We are immersed in a virtual SEA of RF energy, with cell towers as one of the strongest continuous sources of RF energy
In the Future they will look back at use in our electronic garbage-ignorance.
The hideous visage of evil is clearly perceptible in our time. Behind it lurks the perpetual conspiracy of ignorance, threatening to overwhelm all noble elements of human culture. At present, the flood of ignorance endangers the very foundations of civilization.
