If nothing else, Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke is a class act. She's a young woman who understands the best thing you can do when attacked by an unlanced boil on the ass of humanity like Rush Limbaugh, is to hold your head high and keep your cool. Me? I'm not so charitable. If nothing else, Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke is a class act. She's a... more

One more Georgetown fixture will soon be packing up its bags to leave Wisconsin Avenue. Commander Salamander, a clothing and accessories store on Wisconsin Avenue, will be closing by the end of the month without plans to move to another location, according to store management.
(vox populi, 2010, January 20)
Commander Salamander joins 52 other businesses that will have either closed or moved to a different location within the last year, according to a report compiled by Georgetown Metropolitan.
(vox populi, 2010, January 20)
If you wanted to dress in punk or new wave clothes, Commander Salamander was one of those places you shopped. Since the early 1980s, the little shop on Wisconsin Avenue is where you went when you needed cool sunglasses, a pair of safety-pinned bondage pants, glitter makeup or Doc Martens boots.
(WTOP, 2010, January 21)
While most of the 2009 business closings were smaller independent stores, established brands and businesses like American Eagle and Nathan’s shut down, too. On a brighter note, 22 stores also opened (or relocated) in 2009, among them Gore and Dean, Georgetown Cupcake, and Diesel.
(vox populi, 2010, January 20)
Judging from the three stores on Commander Salamander’s block of Wisconsin Avenue that are currently sporting “Going out of business” signs in their windows, which besides Commander Salamander include Milano and Hardware, 2010 does not look too promising for Georgetown businesses.

Over 150 afflicted ... and it's getting crazy over there. Gasto-intestinal madness has struck. Even intercollegiate sporting events were cancelled because of this outbreak. That's how serious this is. Wow ...

West Virginia's magic following their big win over UConn ran out... but they should still have a solid seed come March Madness, (Though that selection committee usually has strong bias against the sheer power in numbers out of the Big East).
The Hoyas however have that huge Big East Final ahead... will that push them into a 1 seed?
Since the winner of the Big East usually by default should be...West Virginia's magic following their big win over UConn ran out... but they... more

The best conference tourney in all of college basketball begins round 2, as the Hoyas light up the Garden with 17 3 pointers...
Can't get more entertaining than that...
Now the question is, is Nova getting by Syracuse enough for the Committee to not screw them on selection Sunday... since the committee always has some bias against the putting 9 Big East teams in the tourney...The best conference tourney in all of college basketball begins round 2, as the Hoyas... more

Just think...
No one ever thought the Big East would be this balanced...
Everyone has beaten up on each other quite attrition-like.
12 Big East Teams...
8 Pac 10 Teams...
4 A10 Teams...
And then the rest of the league.
That would be some March Madness wouldn't it?
And who isn't excited about Seton Hall's recent run of thwarting Louisville, Providence, and Cinci?
