The Kasich Seven and the Ghost of Lehman
By Ring of Truth
The cornerstone of John Kasich’s campaign are 633 major givers of $1,000 or more in the FIRE (financial, insurance and real estate) business sector – many of them with Wall Street connections. (See “Wall Street, FIRE” article adjacent to this blog.) Among them are the “Kasich Seven” – former Lehman executives now with other financial firms, who have two ties to John Kasich.
1. The “Kasich Seven” contributed from $2,000 to $5,000 each to the Kasich campaign since 2009.
2. Like Kasich, they were former Lehman Brothers executives or associates before or during Kasich’s eight years at the firm.
For example, the two biggest contributors to Kasich among the “Kasich Seven” are Michael j. Odrich and Stuart Francis, each of whom gave $5,000 – far above the average of $3,647 for a major FIRE contributor to Kasich and nearly 15 times the $345 for the average Kasich contributor overall.
Odrich was the head of Lehman Brothers Private Equity business two years ago this week. Living in Greenwich, Connecticut, he is now the Managing Director and Global Head of Alvarez & Marsal Capital, which is currently running Lehman Brothers in bankruptcy and reforming it as Lamco. (See adjacent article Ghost of Lehman linking a breaking story from the Los Angeles Times on September 11, 2010.)
Francis was the Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers and is now the Vice Chair of Barclay’s Capital, the British firm that bought Lehman Brothers assets in 2008. Living in Burlingame, California, Francis was quoted in the Columbus Dispatch as saying he worked closely with Kasich at Lehman Brothers and the newspaper reported Kasich “had access to important people and was able to set up meetings, but did more than that.”
OK, Come Clean, John Kasich... and answer a few questions about the Lehman Seven. The Truth will set you free – and the rest of Ohioans too:
How much do you know about the new Ghost of Lehman firm – Lamco – and what does Lamco expect of you as governor of Ohio?
What were your relationships with all of the Kasich Seven at Lehman Brothers?
And what are your relationships now that would prompt these particular seven former Lehman executives to become major donors to your campaign for governor?
What would they want from you if you became governor? The Kasich Seven and the Ghost of Lehman

-Social media site Digg has been the victim of massive fraud perpetrated by renegade conservatives out to game the popular link-sharing website. Digg is currently investigating claims of conservative censorship and dirty tricks, as a group of users known as "Digg Patriots" have been systematically downgrading progressive stories, effectively burying a majority of liberal leaning stories.
The six-year-old social bookmarking website ranks submitted web content by the number of times they are ranked up or down. Popular items, those receiving the most "Diggs" and least attempts to "Bury", are voted onto the Digg homepage, and can generate significant amounts of traffic for external websites. Digg had 7.6 million unique visitors in June this year, according to figures from analytics firm Compete.
AlterNet reports:
A group of influential conservative members of the behemoth social media site Digg.com have just been caught red-handed in a widespread campaign of censorship, having multiple accounts, upvote padding, and deliberately trying to ban progressives. An undercover investigation has exposed this effort, which has been in action for more than one year.

Voight asks, "Is President Obama creating a civil war?"
Actor Jon Voight is on his way to Cincinnati, and Atlanta, in order to participate in Fox News host Sean Hannity's latest "Freedom Concerts." But first, he paused long enough to share some extra nuttiness with the Washington Times.
"There's a real question at stake now. Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?" Voight said in an interview with the paper.
He continued:
We are witnessing a slow, steady takeover of our true freedoms. We are becoming a socialist nation, and whoever can't see this is probably hoping it isn't true ...
Do not let the Obama administration fool you with all their cunning Alinsky methods. And if you don't know what that method is, I implore you to get the book "Rules for Radicals," by Saul Alinsky. Mr. Obama is very well trained in these methods.
The real truth is that the Obama administration is professional at bullying, as we have witnessed with ACORN at work during the presidential campaign. It seems to me they are sending down their bullies to create fist fights among average American citizens who don't want a government-run health care plan forced upon them. So I ask again: Is President Obama creating a civil war in our own country?Voight asks, "Is President Obama creating a civil war?"

Stan Kurland. Remember this name. Stan Kurland.
It seems the man who sold everyone Sub prime mortgages is now a leader in purchasing those same "Toxic Assets" back at 30 to 50 cents on the dollar...
The cycle continues... The new name is PennyMac. Once again, It's PennyMac.
From the article:
STAN Kurland has been called a crook, an arsonist, a "depraved, sub-prime creep" and has even been likened to cannibal serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
And he got his pile selling destructive sub-prime home loans to poor people during the salad days of the US housing boom, so there's no shortage of folk who think jail is too kind for him.
Kurland is the former president of detested mortgage giant Countrywide Financial, the predatory lender whose home loan portfolio grew from $US62 billion to $US463 billion between 2002 and 2006. That's when he jumped ship, cashing out $US200million worth of Countrywide's stock before the full force of the housing collapse hit and sent the US economy into a nosedive.
Three years on, Kurland is getting rich all over again, this time by buying up distressed mortgages and mortgage-backed securities from wobbly banks and the US Government.
Through his quaintly named PennyMac, Kurland has been quietly buying these assets for pennies in the dollar and redesigning them into loans that are affordable to the homeowners.
Please read article and discuss--Stan Kurland. Remember this name. Stan Kurland.

A documentary will be shown on Dec. 5, 2008 in Marquette Michigan about a mining giant with deep pockets and its plan to build a sulfide mine in Marquette County.
That mine will open the flood gates for dozens and maybe hundreds of sulfide and uranium mines.
Some brave citizens and groups are in an all-out war to protect the prstine land and the Salmon Trout River - while questions are raised about state officials and their relationship with Kennecott Minerals.
The state guardians of the environment eagerly jumped into the sack while wooed by Kennecott.
The film was financed by the Charles S. Mott Foundation and produced by the National Wildlife federation.A documentary will be shown on Dec. 5, 2008 in Marquette Michigan about a mining giant... more

Some of Michigan's elected officials - like Governor Jennifer Granholm - are selling out the beautiful streams and lush forests of the Upper Peninsula in exchange for some quick cash.
Many people who once loved our governor - now think Granholm doesn't deserve to be a democrat - because she's acting like a Republican.
Granholm and others - like famous actor/director Jeff Daniels - proclaim their love for the Upper Peninsula but are remaining strangely silent in the fight to stop Kennecott Minerals and other mining companies from building sulfide mines nicknamed "acid" mines.
Granholm, Daniels and others with power should be leading the fight to stop the Eagle Project.
In fact - the governor's top Upper Peninsula aide - her point man on the mine issue - recently quit his job to take a lucrative position with Kennecott''s parent company. That speaks volumes as the gov remains tight-lipped.
The National Wildlife Federation has produced a documentary about the gallant fight to protect the Upper Peninsula.
The public is invited to a free showing of the film om Dec. 5, 2008 in Marquette at Northern Michigan University. Some of Michigan's elected officials - like Governor Jennifer Granholm - are... more

...alongside Alberto Gonzales!
There are now a million and ONE reasons to impeach our Vice President.
--------------
A South Texas grand jury has indicted Vice President Dick Cheney and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales on charges related to the alleged abuse of prisoners in Willacy County's federal detention centers.
The indictment criticizes Cheney's investment in the Vanguard Group, which holds interests in the private prison companies running the federal detention centers. It accuses Cheney of a conflict of interest and "at least misdemeanor assaults" on detainees by working through the prison companies.
Gonzales is accused of using his position while in office to stop an investigation into abuses at the federal detention centers.
Another indictment charges state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. with profiting from his public office by accepting honoraria from prison management companies.
The indictments were first reported by KRGV-TV....alongside Alberto Gonzales!

Corporate America's Perverse Love Affair With The GOP
Three articles from the Wall Street Journal show the strange myopia of businesses and business groups when it comes to politics. One article detailed how big retailers (Home Depot, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Target) are warning employees about the possibility that a Democratic sweep could give unions the upper hand (translation: vote Republican!). A second describes how the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is mounting a huge $35 million campaign—twice the amount it spent in 2006 Congressional races—to support "almost exclusively Republicans in contested Senate races." And Federal Express CEO Fred Smith gave an interview to the editorial page in which he endorsed Sen. John McCain: "Because I agree with him on trade, taxes, energy and health care."
Let's take each in turn...

Falling behind in her reelection race, Sen. Elizabeth Dole has uncorked one hell of a charge: The Democrat running against me is godless.
Dole's 30-second ad, which is running on television in North Carolina but has not (understandably) been promoted by the GOP, uses a September fundraiser co-hosted by 40 people, including a representative of the Godless America PAC, to falsely accuse Democrat Kay Hagan of being an atheist herself.
The end of the ad features a picture of Hagan with a female voice yelling "there is no God!" -- the clear implication is that the voice is Hagan's. In fact, the Democratic candidate is a Sunday School teacher and an elder at her Presbyterian church.
The Charlotte Observer reported Wednesday morning that Hagan's campaign is seeking a "cease and desist" order against Dole's new attack.
"A leader of the Godless Americans PAC recently held a secret fundraiser in Kay Hagan's honor," the ad begins, showing some ominously blurred footage, ostensibly of the event in question. The ad then quotes the group's Ellen Johnson making atheist claims on two cable news shows. Summing up, the spot asks: "Godless Americans and Kay Hagan. She hid from cameras, took Godless money. What did Hagan promise in return?"
Two weeks ago, when the National Republican Senatorial Committee launched a similar attack, the Fayettville Observer described it as "the nastiest, most misleading, negative ad of the campaign..."

Palin's "I'm Pro-America! You're Anti-America!" rhetoric is all extreme hypocrisy.
In case you haven't heard yet, Palin and her husband are huge supporters (and former members) of the AIP: Alaska Independence Party. The AIP's main goal is for Alaska to secede from The United States. Their slogan is "Alaska First," and the head of the AIP is stated as saying "I'm an Alaskan, not an American... I've got no use for America or her damned institutions... The fires of hell are glaciers compared to the hate I've got for the American government..."
Now who's "palling around with terrorists?"
The ties between Palin and the AIP are far too numerous to list here, so please click this link to read the whole story.

McCain cannot stand on his policy alone, so he has been reduced to attempting to degrade Obama with lies and slander. (If only he spent as much time campaigning FOR himself, as he does campaigning AGAINST Obama, he might be doing better in the polls...)
This time, McCain and his allies are attacking Barack Obama with negative robocalls and mail.
Reports are coming in from around the country - and you can be part of that.
If you've received an attack mailer, phone call or anything else produced by dirty politics, head over to http://FightTheSmears.com/Report and let Barack Obama's campaign know about it. McCain cannot stand on his policy alone, so he has been reduced to attempting to... more

This site actually spells out the facts, and Obama apparently did leave parts of her plan off that mailer. The picture used was also very much like the "Harry and Louise" ad used by the insurance industry in the 90s to trash her plan then. Neither of their plans are that good, but for someone who claims he is not status quo and wants to 'change' the way of politics, to put out an erroneous mailer is not conducive to walking the walk if you talk the talk. And that goes for Clinton too. And it is also very interesting to see people sticking up for Obama without really knowing what the mailer even stated. It looks like not much has really changed in the way of looking for truth before jumping to conclusions. I am not a fan of Hillary Clinton's either, but if the mailer is erroneous, it is erroneous regardless of who does it. I also discovered that through Obama's plan he would penalize parents who do not cover their children. That sounds a lot like a mandate to me as well. I have absolutely no problem believing this. How many Edwards supporters were told he wasn't getting the 15% so they were forced to move on instead of standing their ground? The entire caucus process is a sham and nothing but a bullying session. And while I am disappointed that John Edwards "reportedly" got only 5%, I am more disappointed with the American people on the whole in these states who are once again falling for media hype, soundbites, and corporate butt kissing over substance. I can also honestly believe there was much coniving and behind the scenes intimidation on the part of the big money candidates so as not to be embarrassed by the candidate with the real message of change. I'm hoping John Edwards does well in South Carolina and stays in for Super Tuesday and beyond. No one should drop out of this race just because the corporate media pushes them out. Very disappointing, but we continue on. I have absolutely no problem believing this. How many Edwards supporters were told he... more
