Both officials from the University of Tennessee and a statement from Lexus of Knoxville have confirmed that Lane Kiffin was involved in a single car crash back in August of 2009.

There must be some sort of gamesmanship going on behind the scenes in Oakland. By now, Raider Nation has probably already heard about all of the negatives that they can bear. Just when you thought the Raiders couldn't have any more drama until the end of the season, James Cregg called head coach Tom Cable and told him where he could stick the offensive line coach position for the Raiders. Volquest.com is reporting that former Oakland Raiders head coach, Lane Kiffin, has been tapped as the new head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers. The official announcement isn't expected until Monday. While this comes as no surprise to many close to Kiffin or to fans of the silver and black, Tennessee is probably not the destination that many had pegged for the former Raiders and USC Trojans coach. Even before his public plank-walking forced by Al Davis, Kiffin had been rumored to be the leader for the opening at Syracuse, to replace the firing of former Chiefs and Broncos defensive coordinator, Greg Robinson. Ironically, the Orange hail from Davis' alma mater, which is the reason we told you in this space that it would never happen....Volquest.com is reporting that former Oakland Raiders head coach, Lane Kiffin, has... more
As a fan of the Raiders, without considering the cap ramifications or the impending doom that it would cause, you'd have to be just fine with the Raiders releasing overpriced players who have failed to produce or lead this year. I admit, I first heard of this possibility from one of our avid readers here at TFDS, and my response was the following:...As a fan of the Raiders, without considering the cap ramifications or the impending... more
Lane Kiffin filed the long anticipated grievance with the NFL on Wednesday to claim money owed to him on his contract. The claim is for somewhere in the neighborhood of $2.6 million dollars for the remaining portion of his three year contract signed in January of 2007....Lane Kiffin filed the long anticipated grievance with the NFL on Wednesday to claim... more
I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble remembering just how long ago it was that Al Davis pulled the DeLorean out of the garage, called up Christopher Lloyd and told him to grab his lab jacket, and then drove around looking for 1.21 gigawatts so that he could turn back the dial on the Oakland Raiders. After watching the Raiders BE the Big Easy in Louisiana on Sunday, I think that Al’s arthritic fingers didn’t turn the dial back enough...I must really be getting up in years, because I’m already having trouble... more
After a tumultuous off-season, preseason, and first quarter of the regular season, the Raiders will begin to show how well they’ve weathered the storm this Sunday. You are no longer ‘in.’ Do you understand? No longer should you end a comment or a conversation with another citizen of Raider Nation using the phrase, “I’m in.” The famous phrase that Lane Kiffin brought with him is now…out. Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his lack of knowledge, creativity, and clues especially, there was an interesting show on display between the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints. As you know, the Saints are next up on the Raiders hit-list and every media outlet is sure to tell you that they have absolutely no chance in New Orleans. From what was on display Monday Night, you could make a great case for exactly that. I’m not sold....Despite having to sit through another telecast with Tony Kornheiser displaying his... more
Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220 Harbor Bay Parkway, what is it that the Oakland Raiders need to shore up before that winning can begin? The Raiders went into the bye-week ranked 19th in total offense, 25th in points per game, 17th in total defense, and 22nd in points allowed per game. Nobody can deny that the Raiders are better than at least eight teams in the NFL, but if they plan to be one of the top eight in the AFC they’ll have to figure out ways to get better on both sides of the ball....Now that the business of winning football games is the only thing on minds at 1220... more
Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already formed their opinions on one of this week’s biggest stories of the week - along with the bailout, the V.P. debate and now O.J. getting convicted and going to prison possibly for life. The story of Al and Lane is over, but left behind is the same question that the Raiders have been facing since Bill Callahan was fired over five years ago: Will the Raiders ever win again?...Now that the hysteria has died down, the reality has sunk in, and everyone has already... more
The drama has finally ceased with Lane Kiffin’s long anticipated departure coming to pass. It seems as if the Raiders can now move on like a nice normal football team, but this is the Oakland Raiders. Our special correspondent L Dizzle takes a look at whether the drama is finally in the past and the Raiders can ultimately move on, or whether this is just the eye of the storm.

We’ve heard it all before. We’re hearing it again, and the song keeps playing like a broken record. “We’re close. We’ve just got to keep working and we’ll figure it out.“ At this point, Raider Nation could collaboratively write a country music smash hit. At least that record hasn’t been heard yet. If Kiffin is fired, Raider Nation could be hearing that record played again, and again, and again over the next several years...We’ve heard it all before. After the first game of the season, where the Raiders bombed out on Monday Night Football against the Broncos, it was pretty certain in many people’s minds that the Raiders weren’t going to worry about winning this season for a coach on the chopping block. We said as much here and many of the media pundits and former players said so as well. Since that time, we’ve seen inspired performances by a team that many consider an afterthought in the race for the playoffs, and since this team should be sitting near the top of the AFC West with a 2-1 record, the questions have come again and Kiffin had the answers....After the first game of the season, where the Raiders bombed out on Monday Night... more
