Dr. Ron Paul On Raw Milk Freedom
Consumption of unpasteurized milk has been a largely discussed in health circles.
It has been reintroduced as a healthier and more nutritious alternative to the pasteurized version.
Unfortunately, it is illegal in 20 states and allowed in some form in the rest.
Pasteurization involves heating milk to 161 degrees for 15 seconds to kill harmful bacteria. Raw milk promoters believe it damages enzymes and proteins in the milk that can boost the immune system, cure asthma, and reverse gastrointestinal disorders and multiple other illnesses.

(NaturalNews) In a recent town hall meeting in New Hampshire, Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul spoke on Health Freedom and the Constitutional rights of Americans to buy and sell natural food, like raw milk, which hasn’t been tainted with chemicals, hormones, or cooked until completely void of nutrients.
Ron Paul represents the polar opposite of nearly every politician in control of legislation today. Most politicians accept legal bribes (called lobbying) from the big pharmaceutical companies that lead the proliferation of prescription drugs in America, the third leading cause of death. Not only has Ron Paul introduced legislation to repeal the FDA’s prohibition of interstate sales of raw milk, he consistently reminds everyone that Government should not have control over our food choices.
The loudest applause came when Ron Paul spoke about the regulations on raw milk sales. He explained how the FDA does not “take care of us” but rather interferes with our choices by collaborating with special interests. It’s the drug and insurance companies that keep a stranglehold on the American chronic care management system, which doesn’t cure anything, but rather treats symptoms with dangerous pharmaceuticals.

Wisconsin judge goes further and rules that none of us—farmers or consumers—have the right to decide what we have for our own dinner. A state Action Alert!
Last week, Wisconsin judge Patrick J. Fiedler ruled against the property rights of cow owners and their right to consume raw milk from their own cows. Plaintiffs included Galyle Loiselle and Robert Karp, who boarded their cows at Mark and Petra Zinniker’s farm so that they could consume raw milk from them, and the Zinnikers. Here is what the judge said in his own words:
Plaintiffs [Loiselle, Karp, and the Zinnikers] do not have a fundamental right to own and use a dairy cow or a dairy herd;
Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to consume the milk from their own cow;
Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to board their cow at the farm of a farmer; [and]
Plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to produce and consume the foods of their choice.
It would certainly seem that the judge’s ruling violates constitutional rights to property, private contract, and bodily autonomy. After all, is there a more fundamental right than deciding what to eat? (Before this, we thought the FDA’s contempt for freedom of food choice was bad enough!)
Accordingly, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Patrick J. Fiedler’s decision is hereby nominated for our new Tyranny of the Year Award. Every once in a while we’ll nominate a decision or action for the award, and at the end of the year we’ll ask our readers to vote for the one they think is the year’s biggest tyrannical act. (We thank our friend, Dr. Jonathan V. Wright of the renowned Tahoma Clinic in Washington, for suggesting the award. If you have a decision or action you’d like to nominate, please send us your suggestions!)
Raw milk is natural and healthful; people are 35,000 times more likely to get sick from other FDA-protected foods than from raw milk. One of our ANH staff members recalls milking his cow as a child and drinking the fresh milk. Let’s not allow that to become illegal.
If you are a Wisconsin resident, please write to your state legislators today and ask them to support Wisconsin bill SB 108, which allows for sale of unpasteurized milk and milk products.

Demonstrating his ignorance of core values enshrined in common law and what Judge Cooley defined as the “right to be left alone” from overly pernicious government interference, a Circuit Court judge in Wisconsin has ruled that people who consume raw milk have no right to do so.
In response to a request from the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund for clarification in a court case on the issue, Judge Patrick J. Fielder wrote that the “court is unwilling to declare that there is a fundamental right to consume the food of one’s choice without first being presented with significantly more developed arguments on both sides of the issue.”
According to Fielder, citizens must get permission from the state before deciding what they can or cannot eat or drink....more

The time for citizen arrests is now.
A combined force of feds and Los Angeles cops raided a private market in Venice California for the crime of selling raw milk and products made from raw organic milk. The owner of Rawsome Foods, James Stewart, was arrested and is being held on $123,000 bail. He will be charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
Additional people arrested include Sharon Palmer of Healthy Family Farms who is currently in jail with bond set at $120,000. Palmer was featured in the documentary Farmageddon. Victoria Bloch, an L.A. county liaison for the Weston A. Price Foundation has also been arrested.
According to the government, selling healthy food is now the equivalent of selling marijuana and other drugs. In addition to raiding producers and retailers of raw milk, the federal government has indicated it will move against the sale of medical marijuana in California and a handful of other states.

“On April 20th, after a year-long undercover sting operation, armed federal agents acting on behalf of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided the business of Pennsylvanian Amish farmer Dan Allgyer to prevent him from selling his unpasteurized milk to willing, fully-informed customers in Maryland. Federal agents wasted a whole year and who knows how many of our tax dollars posing as customers in order to catch Allgyer committing the "crime" of selling his milk. He was not tricking people into buying it, he was not forcing people to purchase it, and there had been no complaints about his product. These were completely voluntary transactions, but ones that our nanny-state federal government did not approve of, and so they shut down his business. The arrogance of the FDA and so many other federal agencies is simply appalling. These types of police state raids on peaceful businessmen, so reminiscent of our tyrannical federal drug war, have no place in a free society…”

Then there’s New York organic dairyman Jerry Snyder, who has chosen the path of most resistance. His quest is to carve out a super-high-quality niche that few producers will be able to achieve—but that consumers will flock to support, and detractors of raw milk will have to recognize as producing a dairy product of superlative quality.
Strong, sometimes militant, consumer interest in high-quality raw milk is a beacon of hope for the future of well-run family-scale, grass-based organic farms in his region of New York.
The proposals continue the current raw-milk testing protocol, which exceed the bulk milk testing standards. The raw milk bacterial limit is less than one third of Grade A pasteurized milk while honoring the same 10 colony per ml. coliform count. Raw milk is tested for specific pathogens on a monthly basis, while Grade A milk is not, on the assumption that the pasteurization process neutralizes disease-causing microorganisms.
Snyder and other adherents believe that it is an important part of a healthy lifestyle that maximizes vitality while it minimizes antibiotics and immuno-suppressant treatments. “Pure milk” has natural components (lactoferrins, for instance, Snyder says) that serve to fight infection, and that are compromised somewhat by standard pasteurization and crippled by UHT treatment used to greatly extend shelf-life.

November 21, 2006. Twenty armed Ministry of Natural Resources officers in Ontario raid Glencolton Farms for distributing raw milk which it is illegal to consume and to sell in Canada. This could be a taste of what is to come in the rest of the world. Does government have a right to tell us what we can or cannot put into our bodies?
