One of the biggest misconceptions about Islam concerns the name “Allah.” Some people believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians, Jews and others, and some missionary organizations distribute literature in English in which they say such things as: “Allah is the God of the Muslims” and ” Muhammad told people to believe in the God, Allah.” They thus imply and reinforce the idea that “Allah” is some sort of false deity ... more

May I suggest to the seeker of truth do the following NINE STEPS for purification of the mind:
Clean their mind, their heart and their soul real good.
Clear away all the prejudices and biases.
Read a good translation of the meaning of the Holy Quran in a language that they can understand best.
Take some time.
Read and reflect.
Think and pray.
And keep on asking the One who created you in the first place, to guide you to the truth.
Keep this up for a few months. And be regular in it.
Above all, do not let others who are poisoned in their thinking influence you while your are in this state of "rebirth of the soul."
The rest is between you and the Almighty Lord of the Universe. If you truly love Him, then He already knows it and He will deal with each of us according to our hearts.
Peace to you and Guidance from Allah the One Almighty God, Creator and Sustainer of all that exists.

Islam: "Way of life in submission to God in Peace"
Allah said in the Holy Quran: "It is not fitting for a believer that when Allah and His Messenger decide a matter to have any other opinion. They say nothing more than, 'We hear and we obey.'" [Holy Quran 33:36]
All answers are provided by direction of Yusuf Estes, national chaplain and spokesman for ISLAM TODAY PROJECT, unless otherwise stipulated.
The following is a reproduction of an actual dialog through email with a "born-again" Christian and the National Muslim chaplain, Yusuf Estes, who was a former Christian businessman and minister before entering into Islam in July of 1991.
The simple beauty of understanding where people are coming from in their thinking and having proper knowledge of Islam and the methodology of explaining Islam (menhaj ad dawah), is demonstrated here to show how close some of the statements against Islam are to actually in fact verifying the proof that Islam is the only correct religion with Allah. These questions are from a man that Allah has been testing with belief in Christianity & Islam. The answers are provided from Today Islam's Sheik Yusuf Estes.
As we will see, many times the very objections and complaints that others have about Islam, can actually be used to support the correct teachings of Islam. The problem comes from the fact that all too often we do not know enough about what the people are meaning and not enough about our own religion. Notice the art of agreeing at the correct points and then bringing about a clear understanding in the other points without alienating the other person.
Thank you for writing to us with your ideas, comments and questions.

I have a muslim student in my class at university and he never comes and sits with us nor does he come out to the night club/leisure with us. My question is why does islam teach people not to enjoy them selves and be miserable all the time. cheers.

Everyone knows that women are denied rights in Saudi Arabia. And you may think that our fate is the same one that women in some other developing countries face, only a little worse. In truth, we endure a status that most Americans can scarcely imagine.
The guardianship rules are only part of a bigger system of subjugating women. Even with the permission of a guardian, a woman may not drive a car (except in some isolated rural areas and within the compounds that are home to many workers from Western countries). Obviously, there is nothing in the Koran that forbids driving. No, the reason we are not allowed to drive is that the power to transport ourselves would give men much less control over us.
Women in Saudi Arabia may not go out without an abaya, an ugly black cloak that we have to wear on top of our regular clothes. You can imagine how great that feels in 100-degree heat. Saudi men, on the other hand, always wear white. In 2006, I dressed in pink when I staged a one-person protest march. It was the anniversary of the ascent of King Abdullah to the throne. By Saudi standards, Abdullah is a liberal, but he has not done nearly enough to change our situation. So I made a simple sign: "Give women their rights."
Women are not allowed to participate in sports. How could you in an abaya? When I was very young, I was a tomboy. I loved to ride a bike, which my mother allowed, although most girls are forbidden because this activity might cost them their "virginity" by rupturing the hymen. When I was 7, my teacher tied my legs and beat me with a stick when she learned that I had been playing soccer with boys. Then she made me sit at my desk all day, without going to the bathroom or getting a drink of water.Everyone knows that women are denied rights in Saudi Arabia. And you may think that... more

In 1999, I began to make a research about combination of ocean wave energy and gravity energy to run a power plant. But, I found some anomaly in gravity. Then, I began to investigate gravity.
Investigation of gravity brings me to the quantum science, and some achievement had been made. Such as a non-linear formula that look like Einstein formula (G = 8nT) to analyze weather two masses (like earth and moon) can be coupled to an orbital system or not. This equation is a kind of measurement of curvature gravity. Some orbital system had been confirmed by this equation, such as orbital system of Sun and eight planets, orbital system of moon and earth, orbital system of Jupiter and it's satellites (Adrastea, Amalthea, Thebe, Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto, Leda, Himalia, Lysithea, Elara, Ananke, Carme, Pasiphae,Sinope)
I don't know how to get a scientific review from real scientist. The problem is my final GPA 2.4 only :D . That make me difficult to continue my research to university!
Thank God for the development of computer, I can publish my research and get many review, not only from scientist but also from amateur.
This video tells about the consistency of holly books with modern science. I don't want to proof the existence of God. I Just hope this video can increase our faith, no matter you are Christian or Moslem. In 1999, I began to make a research about combination of ocean wave energy and gravity... more

Fourteen hundred years ago, a humble merchant who could not read or write changed the face of Arabia. Today, his influence has spread to every corner of the world including the United States. This is the story Muslims have passed down from generation to generation for 1400 years. It is a story about the merchant, husband, father, statesman and warrior whom they consider the final prophet.... the man whose legacy continues to shape their lives today.
I posted this video so as to give an accurate background and history of Islam and the Prophet Muhhamad and to dissipate the widespread ignorance of this history, so as to counter the hateful and evil lies and propaganda posted by a handful of soulless, heartless, and wicked individuals bereft of conscience and empathy and whose efforts are directed exclusively at spreading hatred, violence, irrational fears, and evil. No doubt they will soon be posting insulting, poisonous and mendacious comments below, as well as voting this down and getting their sick and demented cronies to do the same - that comes with the ugly territory. A study of ponerology and psychopathy brings one a very accurate description of that despicable kind of sorry individuals.Fourteen hundred years ago, a humble merchant who could not read or write changed the... more

They were walking to school in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, a group of teenage girls discussing a test they had coming up, when two men on a motorcycle sprayed them with a strange liquid. Within seconds a painful tingling began, and there was an unusual smell as the skin of 16-year-old Atifa Biba began to burn.
Her friend rushed over to help her, struggling to wipe the liquid away, when she too was showered with acid. She covered her face, crying out for help as they sprayed her again, trying to aim the acid into her face. The weapon was a water bottle containing battery acid; the result was at least one girl blinded and two others permanently disfigured. Their only crime was attending school. They were walking to school in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, a group of... more

Is Osama Bin Laden recruiting Jihadis with talking baby dolls?
Osama Bin Laden has hijacked Mattel's Cuddle 'n Coo doll and is using it to indoctrinate American children!
That seems to be the gist of the conspiracy theory offered by Jan Markell of Olive Tree Ministries in Maple Grove last week.
"It does seem to be saying, 'Islam is the light.' I don't think too many people would argue with that," Markell told OneNewsNow. "And this is not a healthy thing to be putting out in the marketplace when we're in a war on terror, and little children are so susceptible to the messages they hear."
Mattel spokeswoman Lisa Marie Bongiovanni maintains that the only word the doll is programmed to say is "Mama." Other than that it just coos, giggles, and babbles incoherently, just like a real American baby.
"There may be something in there that resembles the word night, or light, or right, but that is all it is," Bongiovanni says, adding that the sound could be distorted because of the toy's small speaker. Mattel is reconfiguring the recording to prevent any future misunderstandings.
Meanwhile, Markell is a little uneasy about leading the charge against "Cuddle 'n Coo." Despite calling us back and talking for 10 minutes, she later said she didn't want to be quoted.
"The Islamic community could turn on me," she feared.
They might even deploy their army of evil toys! —Beth Walton

Violence may still be rife in the world of videogames, but when it comes to religion, caution remains the watchword in the big bucks business.
Sony's decision this month to delay one of the most anticipated games in the history of PlayStation, LittleBigPlanet, to avoid offending Muslims, is the latest sign that videogame-makers are playing prudence when it comes to religion.
LittleBigPlanet, which has received rave reviews, is finally being released next week after a fortnight-long delay because of concerns that a track in the background music might be found offensive.
As copies began to be shipped off to distributors, game developpers woke up to the potential for trouble following a post on a Sony public Internet forum stating that a song by Mali artist Toumani Diabate included two expressions from the Koran that could cause offence
The forum user, who identified himself as "yasser", said "Muslims consider the mixing of music and words from our Holy Quran deeply offending (sic)."
Responding on the game's website, Sony said: "We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence this may have caused."
A Sony spokeswoman in Paris told AFP the song had been replaced by an instrumental track by Diabate. "The game has not been changed," said Emmanuelle Renon. "We did not want polemics."
But the incident was not the first.

Bida, Nigeria - He's not what most women might describe as a "good catch."
Mohammed Bello Masaba, from a small town in Nigeria, is a short, slightly built 84-year-old with no apparent income. But that hasn't stopped him taking 86 wives at the same time – and with a little help from God, he says, he may just marry a few more.
For decades, his unusual domestic arrangements drew little attention. But when Mr. Bello Masaba, a Muslim, gave interviews to local journalists and television crews claiming he had special God-given powers and challenged accepted interpretation of the Islamic holy book, the Koran, his world came tumbling down.
Bello Masaba has run afoul of northern Nigeria's Islamic sharia laws, Muslim clerics, Nigerian federal law, and even his town's traditional ruler, the Emir of Bida. Local authorities have stationed a dozen armed policemen outside the home he normally shares with his wives and over 150 children to protect them from angry neighbors, while Bello Masaba languishes in prison. Yet he remains unrepentant.
"If God permits me, I will marry more than 86 wives. A normal human being could not marry 86 – but I can only by the grace of God," a defiant Bello Masaba told The Christian Science Monitor during a recent prison interview. "I married 86 women and there is peace in the house – if there is peace, how can this be wrong?"
Such statements are heresy here. Under accepted Muslim doctrine, no mortal can speak directly with God and men are allowed a maximum of four wives at any one time.Bida, Nigeria - He's not what most women might describe as a "good... more

The British government has announced that it will fund a board of Muslim theologians in an attempt to "sideline violent extremists".
As part of the initiative, Oxford and Cambridge will host a group of scholars who will "lead debate" on issues such as the role of women, and "loyalty to the UK".
However, this move has angered some Muslim "hardline activists", who are accusing ministers of trying to create "state-sponsored Islam."

A soldier used the Quran for target practice, forcing the chief U.S. commander in Baghdad to issue a formal apology on Saturday.
Maj. Gen. Jeffery Hammond, commander of U.S. forces in Baghdad, apologized to leaders in Radhwaniya, in the western outskirts of Baghdad, for the staff sergeant who was a sniper section leader assigned to the headquarters of the 64th Armored Regiment. He also read a letter of apology by the shooter.
It was the first time the incident -- which tested the relationship between U.S.-backed Sunni militiamen and the military -- was made public since it was discovered May 11.
A military investigation found the shooter guilty and relieved him of duty; he will be redeployed to the United States for reassignment away from the 1st Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division.A soldier used the Quran for target practice, forcing the chief U.S. commander in... more

With misconceptions about Islam in the world very common, a Muslim group in the U.S. has decided to hand out free translations of the Holy Quran so people can get rid of misconceptions about the faith often held from TV.
"I'd read it just to see what it says, but I believe in Jesus, not Allah," said Macy, a longtime Christian. "They have a right to do it . . . but I feel pretty strong in my faith."
The book also contains a number in which people can ask questions regarding the Quran such as "What does Islam say about the Virgin Mary?".
"We're just trying to be honest brokers of information," said Wajahat Sayeed, founder and director of Book of Signs, which also is known as the Al-Furqaan Foundation. "You make your own judgment."
"The general sense will be clear," Sayeed said. "Islam teaches peace."

On Iran's state-owned tv, Channel One milions of Iranians are tunning into the hit weekly drama, "Zero Degree Turn," that centers on a love story between an French Jewish woman and a Iranian-Palestinian Muslim man.
But this aint no ordinary love story because it shows a heart-wrenching tale of European Jews during World War II. Over the course of the 22 episodes, the hero saves his love from Nazi detention camps, and Iranian diplomats in France forge passports for the woman and her family to sneak on to airplanes carrying Iranian Jews to their homeland.
"Iranians have always differentiated between ordinary Jews and a minority of Zionists," says Hassan Fatthi, the show's writer and director. "The murder of innocent Jews during World War II is just as despicable, sad and shocking as the killing of innocent Palestinian women and children by racist Zionist soldiers," he says.
According to the wsj: Iran's Jews -- along with Christians and Zorastrians -- are guaranteed equal rights in the country's constitution. Iran's Jews are guaranteed one member of parliament and are free to study Hebrew in school, pray in synagogues and shop at kosher supermarkets. Despite Mr. Ahmadinejad's statements, it isn't government policy to question the Holocaust, and the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, hasn't endorsed those views. On Iran's state-owned tv, Channel One milions of Iranians are tunning into the... more
