The 20 seat win for the Sweden Democrats shocked many voters says the BBC, since the party is known for far-right political views.
The previously majority ruling party Social Democrats failed to get enough votes, but said it would not form a coalition with any far-right party. Instead Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt stated he's looking for support from the opposition Green party.
The seats won by the Sweden Democrats is claimed to be won by it's campaign based on anti immigration.
"The party appears to have tapped into voter dissatisfaction over immigration, says our correspondent, with the result undermining the image of Sweden as a tolerant and open-minded country.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who hopes to defeat Chancellor Angela Merkel in a September election, has shortened his first name for the campaign to "Frank," a newspaper reported Sunday.

If Norway were part of the European Union, I'd move there in a jiffy - I would have no trouble adapting since I already speak fluent Swedish and can understand Norwegian fairly well. What a contrast between Norway and profligate USA.
