The hat that dazzled millions of people during the inauguration of President Barack Obama, is now being offered as a Christmas ornament. Aretha Franklin's stylish big-bowed hat was the inspiration for the glittery-glass ornament. The ornament's designer hopes it too will be a big fashion hit.
They will cost $43 a piece and will be sold at Bronner's in Frankenmuth, the Ritz-Carlton in Dearborn, some area gift shops and by email at klassicsbykurtis@comcast.net

LOS ANGELES - The Smithsonian Museum wants Aretha Franklin’s Inauguration Day hat.
The Queen of Soul’s big-bowed headgear has become a hot property since the legendary singer wore it to belt out “America the Beautiful” at President Barack Obama’s Jan. 20 inauguration.
But while the Smithsonian wants the original, Aretha’s not sure if she wants to give it up.
“I am considering it. It would be hard to part with my chapeau since it was such a crowning moment in history. I would like to smile every time I look back at it and remember what a great moment it was in American and African-American history. Ten cheers for President Obama,” she said in a statement, according to New York Magazine.
One piece of couture that will definitely be heading for the museum is First Lady Michelle Obama’s ball gown from the historic evening.
According to the Washington Post, the Jason Wu-designed dress will be on display this summer, and they’re interested in her Isabel Toledo ensemble from the ceremony, as well.LOS ANGELES - The Smithsonian Museum wants Aretha Franklin’s Inauguration Day... more

Aretha Franklin showed up to the Presidential Inaugural ceremonies and delivered. Emotion was what it was all about, kids, and to that she sang beautifully. She doesn't have to do a damn thing more in her life.
"This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning "My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring."
