It took the world far too long to realise that George Dubya was somewhat of an idiot by which time it was too late. So lets take a look at the republican front runners now, while there is still time to assess any potential idiocy. It seems that over the last few weeks, one or two "gaffs" have reared their head, gaffs which are terrifyingly similar to George Dubya's. McCain, at a recent debate, stated that he was for gay marriage as long as there was some sort of ceremony. Just a few minutes later he completely changes his mind an says he isn't for gay marriage and then shrugs his shoulders.
As the republican front runner, McCain should have his policies locked down, how can he afford to flip flop back and forth? Of course this is not his most infamous "gaff" to date, since he recently came under the spotlight from Ron Paul who posed a question to McCain about economics at a republican debate. His response was fairly excruciating and has been compared with Miss Carolina's infamous "map" response - this from a man who claims he has a good handle on economics. Amazingly, his Beach Boys "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran" sing along at a republican convention seems to have gone un-noticed.
With Guiliani recently dropping out of the race and closely associating himself with John McCain it looks to me like a very familiar relationship is developing. With McCain, the decorated war hero who strikes a nationalistic chord in Republican voters, there is now a quieter, more politically motivated, and arguably a much more intelligent man who might start calling the shots. Is this relationship going to morph into Dick Cheney and George Bush round two?
