As many of you may know, Hofstra University is the home to the final 2008 Election Debate. After voting this Tuesday, Hofstra University Students came out to Studio A in Dempster Hall where the School of Communication and the Political Science Department joined forces to celebrate the Super Tuesday event. In the summer of 2007, Hofstra University archaeology students, led by Professors Christopher Matthews and Jenna Coplin, dig a site at historic Lloyd Manor on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. Lloyd Manor, built pre-revolution, was the residence of Jupiter Hammon, the first published African American. Jupiter Hammon was one of ten slaves the Lloyd Family owned. The archaeologists are digging what they believe to be the slave quarters to the side of the house.
