Ben Harper and Heath Ledger had a little-known friendship that revolved around music. Ben was the first person Heath called to write a lullaby for his daughter, Matilda. They connected so much sonically that in 2007, Heath announced plans for him and Ben to start a record label together called “Masses Music Co.” Grace Woodroffe, who is featured in Embedded, was meant to be their first signed artist.

Recently, "The Dark Knight" scribe David Goyer weighed in on the status of "Super Max" and even a fourth "Blade" film. Another superhero—or supervillain, rather—Goyer's been connected to with big-screen plans in the works is the Master of Magnetism himself: Magneto.
Goyer spoke with MTV News about the long rumored "X-Men Origins: Magneto" project, and while the filmmaker acknowledged its prospects, he also mentioned that "Magneto" is just one in a long line of potential X-films.
"They're still thinking about doing it," Goyer revealed to MTV News. "They're definitely looking into doing other X-Men spinoffs."
Some of those projects include "X-Men: First Class," which would focus on a young Cyclops, Jean Grey and Beast; "Deadpool," a spin-off of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" showcasing Ryan Reynolds' titular mercenary (assuming his gig as Green Lantern doesn't effect his Marvel job); and "Wolverine 2," a sequel to the first "X-Men Origins" spin-off that takes Hugh Jackman to Japan.
Of those films, official announcements have been made on both "the former finding a screenwriter and the latter having a lead actor. While "X-Men Origins: Magneto" has yet to progress that far, Goyer felt confident that the movie would pick up speed shortly.
"I've been in touch with them," he said. "I'm sure that project will move forward in the next year or so."
But with a dance card that includes "Super Max," a hopeful third "Batman" film and a producer role on ABC's "Flash Forward," will Goyer have enough time to helm "Magneto" as was once hoped? If his prediction pans out, we should know the answer within the next year.Recently, "The Dark Knight" scribe David Goyer weighed in on the status of "Super Max"... more

One auctioneer on ebay has built his very own version of The Tumbler, inspired by "The Dark Knight" vehicle that was a hit with comic-book fans and car enthusiasts.
Tully712 (his ebay username) spent good time it seems, building the edgy batmobile into a go-kart.
Now instead of selling his creation, he has decided to put up the building plans for auction. So if you're any good at building go-karts and have $35 (£21) to spend on the plans, then you should be alright...if not, then I guess you can just enjoy the video at the link and dream of what you could of had.......One auctioneer on ebay has built his very own version of The Tumbler, inspired by "The... more

Just imagine what Chris Nolan's upcoming sequel to "The Dark Knight" would be like if Miley Cyrus was to play the role of Batgirl. Well, rumour has it that the young actress has been very keen on obtaining the greenlight from the Warner Bros. executives, after Miley alledgedly dressed up as Batgirl and had produced self-written scripts, for the role.
How would a hot-tempered, impatient Christian Bale and an under-age, always happy Disney channel girl produce a serious sequel to a dark/depressing action film, together?Just imagine what Chris Nolan's upcoming sequel to "The Dark Knight" would be like if... more

Coming Soon recently had a chance to meet Disney's head of production Oren Aviv and interviewed him about the previously-announced fourth installment in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise.
"We're going to shoot 'Pirates 4' in April and May of next year. We are going to release it hopefully in 2011," he said, adding that Disney will be making one installment at a time, but the first film will "hopefully be the first of another trilogy." He continued: "It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger. The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters."
Without confirming anything, Aviv said that there is still lots of Captain Jack Sparrow's back story that we haven't seen.
Another news came from "The Dark Knight", during "The Book of Eli" panel at Comic-Con, actor Gary Oldman was asked for a "Batman 3" update. "Batman will start shooting next year," he said. "So it's two years away. But you didn't hear that from me." This somehow confirmed what that several producers and set construction workers have previously revealed that the film is already in pre-production and will begin shooting by the Summer of 2010.Coming Soon recently had a chance to meet Disney's head of production Oren Aviv and... more

We definitely prefer a clever criminal and a clever plan when it comes to bank robber movies. Otherwise it’s just yet another taut thriller or slapstick comedy involving a tunnel dig from the bakery/bathhouse/chicken restaurant/luggage store/etc. next door. So we’ve come up with ten favorite bank jobs that involve originality and a successful getaway (a plan isn’t that clever if it doesn’t work). There have been hundreds of bank robberies throughout film history so if we’ve forgotten something really clever, inform/remind us of the movie in the comments. We’ve purposefully excluded armed vehicle, stagecoach and train robberies, though, so stick specifically to internal bank jobs.

Director McG stripped most of the color from Salvation in order to evoke an "other-worldly, desolate feeling." The filmmaker solicited feedback from experts who monitored the nuclear meltdown at Chernobyl, then underscored the post-apocalyptic sense of gloom by using obsolete Kodak stock that was baked in the sun to deliberately damage the film.
"Most importantly," McG said, "we added three times as much silver in the processing than one traditionally would to a color stock."
McG, eager to win Cameron's seal of approval, remembers the pitch: "I told Cameron, 'This is the first Terminator picture that takes place post-Judgment Day. We'll be able explore this world that you alluded to ever so briefly and re-invigorate Terminator in the spirit of what Chris Nolan did with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight or the James Bond franchise has done in the Daniel Craig space.' So Cameron said, 'OK, that sounds interesting.'"Director McG stripped most of the color from Salvation in order to evoke an... more

Heath Ledger's parents say his posthumous Golden Globe for The Dark Knight should go to his 3-year-old daughter Matilda.
Speaking from the late actor's family home in Perth, Australia, Ledger's father Kim said he watched the awards ceremony with "bittersweet pride".
The actor died of an accidental drug overdose prior to the film's release.
His role as the Joker has also won a Critics Choice award and is expected to get an Academy Award nomination.
Ledger received a standing ovation from the audience when he was named best supporting actor. The award was accepted on his behalf by director Christopher Nolan.
"A standing ovation breaks you up," said Kim Ledger.
He added: "That really goes to the heart, you know."
In an interview with People magazine, Ledger's mother, Sally Bell, said: "I should imagine that eventually it will be going to Matilda.
"It will belong to her because she is part of him."
She has described the recognition the 29-year-old actor had been getting for his work as an "emotional rollercoaster".
"There is a lot of emotion tied up in this and we have to deal with that emotion first before we can relax and enjoy the moment," she said.Heath Ledger's parents say his posthumous Golden Globe for The Dark Knight should go... more

Will The Dark Knight get any respect from the Academy Awards and other seasonal cinematic salutes?
A strong argument can be made that Dark Knight was the best, most effective and most powerful film of the year. The flick ran away with the year's box office title and will take shot at Titanic's all-time record when it re-enters theaters in January.
Reviewed almost universally well by critics around the world, Christopher Nolan's epic not only proved to be one of the best sequels of all the time -- easily surpassing Batman Begins in popularity and box office gross -- it transcended the comic book/superhero movie genre en route to becoming a gritty crime drama. Including an immortalizing performance by Heath Ledger as The Joker that should bring accolades from somewhere, Dark Knight achieved that rarest mix of artistic and financial success.
There are other contenders to Batman's claim on quality control's top shelf -- especially Milk, Slumdog Millionaire and Gran Torino. In fact, the American Film Institute Top Films of 2008 serves as a program to aid movie fans in identifying the award season players.
But it's more than just stiff celluloid competition that could keep Dark Knight grounded at award time. Other, less cinematic, elements play into the movie's award chances.
Genre-based box office smashes don't fare well come award time. Most of the time, audience-friendly blockbusters can't carry the aesthetic water needed to earn them. There are exceptions, including The Silence of the Lambs, Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, that burn through ticket receipts and steal away with statuettes. But the likes of Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Jaws will be remembered as masterpieces that Oscar ignored.
Dark Knight seems to have the critical buzz needed for an award-worthy pedigree. That leaves Hollywood's politics as the film's archenemy come nomination time. Somehow -- while it's very unlikely Nolan or co-writer David Goyer intended such an effect -- Dark Knight garnered a reputation as a conservative movie.
Finally, Batman himself has been compared to President George W. Bush -- the unpopular enforcer protecting an angry public from a monstrous foe.
All of this was heaped on Dark Knight long after it was conceived, written, directed, edited and released. It was never intended as a political film but as a crime-based, psychological morality play. With high-quality, yet more Hollywood-friendly political films like Milk out there, Dark Knight may have to settle for being the biggest smash hit of all time. Will The Dark Knight get any respect from the Academy Awards and other seasonal... more
