Meghan McCain got taken to task by Paul Begala during her appearance on "Real Time with Bill Maher" Friday, leading her to tell Begala at one point "you clearly know everything and I'm just the blond sitting here."
It all got started during a discussion of George Bush, who McCain acknowledged was a less than perfect president. But McCain also pointed a finger at the Obama administration in Bush's defense, saying she felt that the Obama administration "has to stop completely blaming everything on its predecessor." When Maher asked McCain if she really thought this is what Obama is doing, McCain said "I do to a degree." A clearly annoyed Begala immediately shook his head and said "not to enough of a degree, I'm sorry not nearly enough." He then began to explain how President Reagan blamed Jimmy Carter for years, to which McCain responded blithely "you know I wasn't born yet so I wouldn't know." Going in for the kill, Begala fired back "I wasn't born during the French Revolution but I know about it."
And it only got more embarrassing for McCain from there.Meghan McCain got taken to task by Paul Begala during her appearance on "Real... more

Meghan McCain went on the "Colbert Report" Monday night to discuss whether Republicans will win the youth vote by being open-minded on social issues or by learning to use Twitter. McCain's view: the first one. John McCain's daughter described herself as a "pro-sex Republican" and a "pro-sex woman," but she refused to lick Stephen Colbert's face or talk about Sarah Palin.

Speaking to an affectionate crowd of Log Cabin Republicans on Saturday evening, Meghan McCain ridiculed the party her father headed this past election, declaring that "old school Republicans" were "scared shitless" of the changing landscape.
The Senator's daughter, who has quickly become something of an iconic figure in the gay conservative community since the end of the election, took repeated shots at the GOP for its antiquated mores.
"I feel too many Republicans want to cling to past successes," said McCain. "There are those who think we can win the White House and Congress back by being 'more' conservative. Worse, there are those who think we can win by changing nothing at all about what our party has become. They just want to wait for the other side to be perceived as worse than us. I think we're seeing a war brewing in the Republican Party. But it is not between us and Democrats. It is not between us and liberals. It is between the future and the past."
Later, she called out those officials in the Republican tent who insist that tactical improvements, technology and brass-knuckle politicking are the path back to relevance.
"Simply embracing technology isn't going to fix our problem," she said. "Republicans using Twitter and Facebook isn't going to miraculously make people think we're cool again. Breaking free from obsolete positions and providing real solutions that don't divide our nation further will. That's why some in our party are scared. They sense the world around them is changing and they are unable to take the risk to jump free of what's keeping our party down."Speaking to an affectionate crowd of Log Cabin Republicans on Saturday evening, Meghan... more

Meghan McCain and that black girl, Bridget McCain, yes, daughters of John McCain. Well, "presidential daughters" naturally rubs off some celebrity to them as well aside from their famous parents. Meghan McCain is a 23-year-old, socially liberal John Kerry voter who loves Superbad, Dita von Teese, Bud Light, and campaign blogging.
Meghan confesses that her real love life hasn’t been especially active lately. She’s gone on only one official date since her dad’s campaign began, but she bowed out early with a “headache.” Then there was also the rumor that she’d been seen with—horrors—a Ron Paul supporter.
"I started dating this guy, and he wouldn’t date me anymore because he found out who my dad was. He says, ‘I don’t agree with his politics.’ Isn’t that terrible? That’s why you’re dumping me? We only went on two dates, but still. Not everybody wants to go out with somebody so high-profile. If they do, they’re investment bankers. Seriously. Ugh! If you’re an investment banker, don’t hit on me."
Win or lose, Meghan insists she wants to “properly commemorate the experience” by getting another tattoo at the end of the campaign.
“I’m an Independent. Socially liberal, economically conservative. I believe in a lot of Republican ideals, with the war being the number one thing I completely agree with my dad on.”
“I like bad boys for the most part,” Meghan adds. “In the past, I have liked tattooed guys who wear Converse. But I’d be open to anyone as long as you have a sense of humor."

Meghan McCain, who I went to middle school with in Phoenix, is showing the world how fun life on the campaign trail can really be on her McCain Blogette. She's doing a great job of supporting her dad and writing about everything from the big issues of the campaign to the more light-hearted adventures of life in the tour bus, from New Hampshire to Des Moines to your town. An interesting way to get young people drawn into the McCain party.Meghan McCain, who I went to middle school with in Phoenix, is showing the world how... more
