Valerie Gotay is a mother of two young children, Isa and Breanna. Valerie has made it on the US Judo Olympic team in the past, but through personal tragedy never fought in a match. Chad Chenier documents how the New Zealand based company Prohunt NZ Ltd, co-owned by Norm MacDonald, was hired to eradicated feral pigs from Santa Cruz Island by The Nature Conservancy and the Park Service. The Park Service and The Nature Conservancy each own separate sections of Santa Cruz Island that is part of an eight island chain called the Channel Islands located off the coast of Southern California. Lotus Vermeer, Santa Cruz Island Restoration Project Director, discusses the reasons for the decision to remove the feral pigs from the island. Vermeer claims that if the feral pigs are not removed then the endangered Santa Cruz Island Fox will certainly have little chance to survive. Rob Puddicombe and Scarlet Newton, members of the Channel Islands Animal Protection Association, make counter-arguments against the action being taken by the Park Service and The Nature Conservancy. Finally, Adrian Wenner, U.C.S.B. professor of Wildlife Biology, gives an independent assessment of the conditions on the island during the many years that he has been involved with feral honey bee colonies on Santa Cruz Island.
