It is the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion Week and the only icon we can think of that is as British as the Queen is Vivienne Westwood and her English fashion sense. While her edge has softened a bit over the years, her Red Label, which she presented yesterday on the catwalk, still cuts a dashing figure. We loved Westwood's take on business dressing (above). Her spin on the traditional navy suit is smart, edgy, and we think very wearable. The same can be said for the dress below. The piece maintains its softness yet has a tiny hint of severity- perfect. The only sour note for us is the diaper like shorts she introduced. We don't expect to see this silhouette knocked-off ever. And we have to mention, the model above has wickedly long toes.It is the 25th Anniversary of London Fashion Week and the only icon we can think of... more

Ewwwww, a recent study found that on average women wash their bras just once every two months. They wear a bra around seven times in two months before washing it, ignoring common stains such as perfume, body lotion, fake tan and sweat.
The findings, in a survey of 2,000 women aged 20 to 65 by cleaning firm Dr Beckmann, follow revelations by Dame Vivienne Westwood last month that she never washes her bras. The 68-year-old said instead she simply dabs them with talcum powder to get rid of grease spots.
Unsurprisingly, Dr Beckmann suggests this lack of washing means bras look tatty, grey and dirty (not to mention smelly).

Actress Pamela Anderson wiggled down the catwalk to a whooping audience on Friday and Vivienne Westwood told fashionistas to fight economic crisis by wearing a back-to-front shirt.
Huge safety blankets folded into coats and out-of-control pink tulle added Westwood's trademark rebellious touch to the show, culminating in Anderson twirling down the catwalk first in a tutu and then in a skin-tight T-shirt.Actress Pamela Anderson wiggled down the catwalk to a whooping audience on Friday and... more

Say what?! Apparently, after Vivienee Westwood's show during London's Fashion Week, Kanye West (aka Mr. Fashionista, all up and through London's Fashion Week) went over to tell her that he is a big fan. However, Westwood had to ask a friend who Kanye was, and the friend said, "I think he's famous in America."
Oh snaps!

British designer Vivienne Westwood has vowed to go fur free following a meeting with PETA. "We have not used fur of any kind in next season's collection, and have no plans to use it in the future," said a spokesperson for Westwood, who first found fame in the late 70's and early 80's designing punk and post-punk pirate looks for U.K. bands The Sex Pistols and Bow Wow Wow.
It's not the first time Westwood has used her clothes to express what she believes in. In 2005 she joined up with British civil rights group Liberty, designing T shirts bearing the slogan "I AM NOT A TERRORIST, please don't arrest me" to protest against governmental attacks on the principle of habeas corpus after 9/11. Habeas corpus stands as a cornerstone of any free society, and is a common principle in law on both sides of the Atlantic which dates back to the Magna Carta which was signed in 1215.
"When I was a schoolgirl my history teacher, Mr. Scott, began to take classes in civic affairs. The first thing he explained to us was the fundamental rule of law embodied in habeas corpus," says Westwood. "He spoke with pride of civilization and democracy. The hatred of arbitrary arrest by the lettres de cachet of the French monarchy caused the storming of the Bastille. We can only take democracy for granted if we insist on our liberty."
Fans of Westwood include Gwen Stefani, Jerry Hall, Marilyn Manson and Naomi Campbell. The Daily Mantra applauds the designer for standing up for the right of both animals and humans to live freely.

The aim of Westwood's Manifesto is to encourage all intellectuals in the fight against propaganda.
