You needed to be shocked today, right? Let's visit Republic Middle School just outside the buckle of the bible belt in Springfield, Missouri.
Back in 2009, a special needs girl was raped by a fellow student. The school principal Patricia Mithelavage, school counselor Joni Ragain and school resource officer Robert Duncan didn't believe her. The school used 'intimidating interrogations' and the girl recanted.
The counselor's profile of the girl notes that she "would forego her own needs and wishes to satisfy the request of others around so that she can be accepted." So naturally, the school forced her to write a note of apology and hand it to her accused rapist.
Then they expelled her for the rest of the year.
She returned to school in 2010.
And she was raped again. By the same boy.
The police were brought in after the second rape and lack of response from the school. Her attacker pleaded guilty in juvenile court "to unspecified charges."
And the girl was suspended again for a "Public Display Of Affection."
The family just filed suit against the principal, the counselor, among others noting this all occurred as a "result of the negligence, carelessness, and conduct of third parties."
As if anyone needed more information to trigger a coronary--or a lynching--GUESS HOW THE SCHOOL RESPONDED. They said that 7th grade special ed student "neglected to use reasonable means to protect herself."
Remember these names: school principal Patricia Mithelavage, school counselor Joni Ragain and school resource officer Robert Duncan. They're about to become famous.

great blog by the meanest special ed teacher ever...
A couple days later, her boyfriend is getting all geared up to go hunting, as it is opening day for hunting season. BING! The light in her fried brain goes off, and she decides she is going to let a hunter shoot her. So she constructs herself a deer suit. Literally gets fur, and builds herself a fucking deer costume. She was describing this to me, and all I could think was Silence of the Fucking Lambs.
She completes her costume and goes out into the woods wearing it. She is out in the woods drinking, doing drugs, when she hears some rustling. She thinks that this is her chance, so she starts making some noise in the bushes, crunching leaves and shit, when she hears "Lady, WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?"
It was the fucking park ranger! He immediately radios for assistance, and she is literally drug out of there in her "I love myself" jacket.
All of this while she was pregnant with her daughter, who is in my class.
And people wonder why I drink so much.great blog by the meanest special ed teacher ever...

I published this after my daughters brought me some videos of what was happening at their school, with the Special Ed students. I thing that unless disability hits home for you, it's hard to understand that they deserve to be treated with dignity as does everyone else. Society as whole doesn't value people that they view as broken is some way.
I notified Regional Center, but I don't know if they will tell these parents what has happened. My son's case worker has notified a parent who's student attends this school, but the other workers just said, "Oh, we haven't heard anything about that". To which I replied, "I know, I just told you it's happening".
This is the update to the original article:
I have been digging more and what is happening is that the special ed kids are picking up recyclables. When they collect a certain amount by Friday, they get Ice cream. So after they eat lunch they walk around for the rest of their lunch, with plastic bags picking up cans and bottles from the floor and the trash. Recyclables or not, it's still trash. They are still in the middle of the cafeteria being exposed to the other kids' mean comments.
They dig in the trash and then they touch their face, gross! If I were given an option for or against my Mickie doing that I would oped out.
The regular kids are encouraged to do this too, but none of them do it, because they find it gross and embarrassing. Special kids on the other hand don't understand social subtleties, and all they know is that they might get ice cream on Friday. They should be getting ice cream anyway!!
I still think it's disgusting, humiliating and wrong in so many levels!!
The original article is here, with two more videos and there is message from someone called thedevilisaliar, who admits to knowing the kids and is justifying this kind of treatment:

This is unbelievable. How could schools still be allowed to to this. Everybody knows, you don't leave kids unsupervised, mush less one with ADHD-which is my opinion is a label, that makes kids who wear it feel really bad as it is.
If this doesn't scare the daylights out of you, I don't know what does. If this boy was able to communicate with his parents and this still happened, imagine the ones like my Mickie, that can't speak a word. I can only imagine what those poor parents must be going through.
This part of the article from the CNN site:
• Mentally disabled, autistic kids injured, traumatized in school seclusion rooms.
• 13-year-old Georgia boy hanged himself in room with cord teacher gave him.
• Autistic Iowa girl confined in school storage closet where she pulled out her hair.
Murrayville, Georgia - A few weeks before 13-year-old Jonathan King killed himself, he told his parents that his teachers had put him in "time-out.” The room where Jonathan King hanged himself is shown after his death. It is no longer used, a school official said..............

Black Agenda Report writes a good article that makes you think about what you didn't know about Barack Obama through the hype of his change speeches. I am one who particularly does not subscibe to hype over substance, and after the last eight years I don't think the American people should fall into the same trap they did with Bush. Many of us who know the Clintons already know what they are about. However, how many have even thought to really look into Obama's past? This article does a good job of it.Black Agenda Report writes a good article that makes you think about what you... more
