Many years back while I was a fine arts student at the University of Houston, I had been considering God’s love for the Jewish nation, especially the passage in Romans 10:19 where Paul is teaching about God’s everlasting love for the Jews. In this context Paul quotes Moses, “I will provoke you to jealousy by those who are not a nation I will move you to anger by a foolish nation.”
A “poster” style concept formed in my heart and mind that I felt might strike the Romans 10:19 chord with the Jewish students on campus. The intent of the poster was specifically designed to “provoke” Jews to the type of jealously Moses saw and Paul articulates. As a believer and a creative person, one has to be very careful about saying, “God told me to do this or that,” when sometimes it may be only our own creative ideas. One could place that in the category of “self works”. However, for me a worse pitfall is to disobey when you really believe He is directing.
I felt as if this was to be posted on campus during the Jewish Passover season. The poster was printed on a stark white paper. On it I designed a huge, red, bloodstain that was vivid, bold and clearly visible from a great distance. The red stain was placed over the top of a graphical lamb I drew. But the lamb was printed without ink. It was created in a technique known as “blind embossing”. From a distance the lamb could not be seen. As one drew near the bloodstain, the white lamb became clearly visible behind it.
There was a brief paragraph of copy about Christ being the Passover lamb under the art. This is because two verses before the Romans 10:19 passage Paul says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. “ (Rom. 10:17). The Word had to be on the poster to provide a resting place for their faith.
This poster design was used for various street evangelism events in later years. But for me, the first use was why I spent so much time creating it. One day I expect to hear who it was God was after during that Passover season.
May God bless you and the work He designed you for.

UKTV channel was re branded Dave because 'everyone knows a Dave' however companies are like people, since there is more than one Dave.
Four years before the channel Dave the Branding Consultancy (irony?) was born only to see its name become a popular television channel in 2008.
The EU's Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market took a two year investigation into Dave and found the channel Dave cannot trademark its name becuase of the branding consultancy.
"Though Dave's application in relevant categories, including advertising, broadcasting and the production and distribution of TV, was rejected, the TV channel does have permission to use the name on decorative magnets and stationery."-Marketing

TV channel Dave awarded the funniest joke at the Edinburgh Fringe to Tim Vine this year, while also selecting a list of the worst jokes from the Fringe.
The selection was made by sending judges to around 60 comedy performances, who then sent their picks to a public vote. However, the article points out the festival held 883 comedy shows during the month long festival.
"The top 10 festival funnies were judged to be:
1) Tim Vine "I've just been on a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I'll tell you what, never again."
2) David Gibson "I'm currently dating a couple of anorexics. Two birds, one stone."
3) Emo Philips "I picked up a hitch hiker. You've got to when you hit them."
4) Jack Whitehall "I bought one of those anti-bullying wristbands when they first came out. I say 'bought', I actually stole it off a short, fat ginger kid."
5) Gary Delaney "As a kid I was made to walk the plank. We couldn't afford a dog."
6) John Bishop "Being an England supporter is like being the over-optimistic parents of the fat kid on sports day."
7) Bo Burnham "What do you call a kid with no arms and an eyepatch? Names."
8) Gary Delaney "Dave drowned. So at the funeral we got him a wreath in the shape of a lifebelt. Well, it's what he would have wanted."
9) Robert White "For Vanessa Feltz, life is like a box of chocolates: Empty."
10) Gareth Richards "Wooden spoons are great. You can either use them to prepare food. Or, if you can't be bothered with that, just write a number on one and walk into a pub…"-BBCTV channel Dave awarded the funniest joke at the Edinburgh Fringe to Tim Vine this... more

It's official! The hit 90's sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf is set to blast back onto UK screens, with all the original cast and a rather uncreative title.
Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten are set to be reunited on screen for the first time since the end of the last series in a final two-parter, which, you guessed it, will see the crew return back to Planet Earth. The cast are set to film four episodes in total, all of which will be shown, probably in between reruns of Top Gear, on digital channel Dave over the Easter weekend.
Alongside the two-parter, the crew will also be filming two other, unbelievably creatively titled shows. Firstly, an improv. show which will see the cast try and cope with 'no sets, effects or autocue' called... Red Dwarf: Unplugged. Secondly, a behind the scenes look at all the new fancy technical production stuff they used in making 'Red Dwarf: Back to Earth' called, now wait for it.... 'Red Dwarf: the Making of Back to Earth'
I'm really looking forward to this, but surely they could've done a bit better with the naming of the shows....It's official! The hit 90's sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf is set to blast back... more
