When you think Bollywood, do you think: choreographed pelvic thrusts, PG-rated love scenes, emotive ballads and uncomfortably cheesy acting? Do you also think...I COULD DO THAT? Well, now it's your chance to prove it.
Sign up at http://www.thegogame.com/bollywood as an individual or team to compete in an Indian-themed multimedia scavenger hunt through the streets of Haight Ashbury and see if you have what it takes to be crowned San Francisco's next Bollywood Star. The game goes from 1 - 3pm and more information will be provided once you sign up at: http://www.thegogame.com/bollywood
$20 suggested donation goes toward purchasing goats for tribal villagers in rural India and also puts you in the running to win our grand prize: A FREE ROUNDTRIP FLIGHT TO INDIA. Jai ho!
At the end of the game, judging will take place at the Poleng Lounge. Stick around and the party at Poleng will turn into a happy hour from 4-6pm, where you will get to see the EXCLUSIVE DEBUT of a VIRAL VIDEO that will take this effort 'round the world. Filmed entirely in Koraput, India, the video stars the villagers, their goats, and their moves in a rap music parody of the Lonely Island's "I'm on a Boat" with a simple message: "I Want a Goat". Learn more at http://www.iwantagoat.com.
So dust off those early 90's dance moves and get ready to compete at the Community Game on Saturday, November 14th. Be sure to dress for success in bangles, turbans, sarees, kurtas, gem-tones, rave-wear or anything with jewels. It's going to get gaudy. When you think Bollywood, do you think: choreographed pelvic thrusts, PG-rated love... more

Hello and welcome to this week’s scavenger hunt. By the title you can probably guess that this weeks selections include new movie releases.
1. Easy: Our very own Brett_Erlich asked you to submit your reviews via webcam.
2. Over-Easy: This submission was featured on our homepage, and claimed that a certain show for which the film is based on represented a “a socialist Utopia where merit determined one’s station in life.”
3. Hard-Boiled*: Long before his famous on set screaming tyrade against the film’s Director of Photography, there was the first image of Christian Bale as John Connor on current.com.
*Again, it seems incredibly difficult to find, but I’ll give you a hint: Sort your search by “newest”. There. Wasn’t that easy?
Good Luck to All.

Hardcore Nine Inch Nails fans got a special treat last week when Trent Reznor and company hid tickets to a private concert all over Los Angeles. More than twenty question marks appeared on a Google Earth map that NIN put out on their tour page. The question marks were labeled with phrases like "Men's room. Behind the mirror. Be discreet," and "Incredibly ugly hat. Last pair of tickets." Quick-thinking fans noted the GPS coordinates of question marks and set off on a treasure hunt, much like geocachers.
At each location there was a hidden white envelope marked with a question mark. Inside, were two tickets to a private invite-only show and directions on how to email and confirm the show's location. The envelopes were hidden in various ways: inside a drain pipe, inside a book on a shelf at Barnes and Noble, and on the base of the triceratops statue at the Natural History Museum, just to name a few. The headstone on the right is where a fan found the tickets labeled "A. Boner". [see link]
Nine Inch Nails has always treated its fans with love, releasing their album, "The Slip", online for free, and hosting other secret shows for members of their fan club. This ticket hunt is not the first stroke of marketing brilliance to come from NIN. Last year, they started an ARG for their album "Year Zero". Way to go to Trent and Nine Inch Nails for keeping the excitement alive for their most loyal fans.

Think recycling is a good idea? Think of it how good Europe, the US and other countries/continents have had it, when within miles of the US border, most people have never been exposed to a recycling system or culture ever in their lives, and it all goes to one place: the landfill. Until now.

One step at a time.
TIJUANA, BC MEX. In Tijuana, a new machine is poised to help clean up some of the city’s social and environmental problems. A Tijuana teenager dreamed up the contraption ten years ago. She’s since dedicated her life to making the project a reality. KPBS Border Reporter Amy Isackson has the story.
As a teenager, growing up in Tijuana, Miroslava Enciso Limon always wanted to be a firefighter. But her dream changed when her high school teacher assigned her to visit Tijuana’s dump.City officials eventually hope to recycle 60-percent of Tijuana’s trash.
City dump trucks back up to Enciso’s recycling machine. It’s up and running at a facility on Tijuana’s east side. The machine is not especially high tech.
Blades rip open the garbage bags and spill the contents onto a conveyor belt. At times, the stench makes your eyes water.
About thirty workers dressed in navy coveralls, face masks and latex gloves sort the trash. All of them used to be scavengers at the dump. New employee, Luisa Marquez says it was much harder when she was a scavenger.
Marquez (translated): Before, I left at 4 a.m, before the sun came up because it’d get too hot….We’d have to open the bags. We’d get dirty. We’d get covered in food. We didn’t have uniforms. We didn’t have protection or a roof.
The machine’s inventor, Enciso, says she could have automated the process more. But the idea is to employ as many scavengers from the dump as possible -- about 200 when the machine is fully operational.

The Hunt: On Saturday March 8th, 50 works of art will be hidden throughout the Mission. Each artist will make one map which leads to one piece of art. Bluespace will have maps for sale starting at high noon. Maps will be reasonably priced. Buy a map, find the art, and you get to keep it forever. The only catch is that you have to bring it back to Bluespace so everyone can see it for two weeks until the end of the show.
The Party: We'll be out front grilling up sausages and veggiedogs from 2-5 after the hunt. Go get your art, come back, hang out, and enjoy the show.
The Preview: If you want to see other works by the participating artists-- come by Bluespace during open hours starting Saturday March 1st. These works will be for sale straight up, no maps. The Hunt: On Saturday March 8th, 50 works of art will be hidden throughout the... more
