ATTN: ALL GUN LOVERS:
Have I got a deal for all gun lovers.
All you have to do is enlist in the United States Army and Uncle Sam will provide you with a gun, ammo and it is all free.
But that isn't all.
If you are lucky enough, Uncle Sam will provide you with someone to kill and the best part is you won't be charged with murder.
Other benefits include three hots and a cot and free health insurance in case you are shot before you shoot the "bad guy."
There is also free food prepared by the United States Army cooks, or you will be given MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) which are mouth-watering.
During your basic training, the Army cooks will prepare SOS (S..t on a Shingle) a delicious combination of creamed chipped beef served on toast which you can smell at least a mile away.
But the best part by far is there are no concealed weapons laws and you get to carry your gun (rifle) everywhere you go.
For the life of me, I can't understand why gun lovers don't take advantage of this opportunity courtesy of Uncle Sam.
And one last thing.
If you go on a killing spree, you won't be called a serial killer, but instead you might be lucky enough to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I had all these wonderful benefits and I'm not even a gun lover.

Republican Senator John McCain joined his buddy Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham and other Republican Senators in blocking the confirmation of former Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense all because Hagel spoke out seven years ago against the Iraq war and was opposed to "the surge."
The filibuster by Republicans puts on hold Hagel's appointment as Secretary of Defense for at least ten days.
Hagel was right seven years ago when he said the cost in blood and treasure was not worth going to war with Iraq that didn't have any weapons of mass destruction and the capability of making a nuclear bomb.
Hagel also was opposed to highly touted "surge" and again he was right because it was the tribal members of the Sunni element in Iraq who drove Al Qaeda out of several provinces in Iraq while U.S. troops were used as backup.
The Iraq war, which was sold to America and Congress by Vice President Dick Cheney, eventually cost the lives of over 4,700 young Americans as well as over 70,000 American troops seriously wounded, including some with wounds that will leave them disabled for the rest of their lives.
It is also estimated that upwards of one million Iraqi citizens were killed during the course of the Iraq war.
And to add insult to injury, the Bush administration never added the cost of the Iraq war, estimated to be nine billion dollars a month, to the deficit and was only discovered when the Obama administration moved into the White House.
There are still 66,000 troops in Afghanistan and "the grudge" by McCain, Graham and other Republicans leaves them high and dry without Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense over what amounts to a petty and childish grievance.
The Huffington Post reported the following on Saturday:
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Thursday that Republican opposition to defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel can be traced back to the former Republican senator's attacks on George W. Bush over the Iraq War.
McCain, who voted to delay a final vote on Hagel's confirmation, told Fox News' Neil Cavuto that Hagel's old colleagues haven't forgotten his criticism of former President Bush.
"To be honest with you, Neil, it goes back to-- there's a lot of ill will towards Senator Hagel because when he was a Republican, he attacked President Bush mercilessly, at one point said he was the worst president since Herbert Hoover, said the surge was the worst blunder since the Vietnam War, which is nonsense, and was anti his own party and people," McCain said.
"People don't forget that," McCain continued. "You can disagree, but if you're disagreeable, people don't forget that."
McCain also cited concerns with Hagel's experience as well as his "troubling" answers on Iran.
The Arizona senator is one of 40 Republicans who voted against invoking cloture and ending the GOP filibuster on Hagel's nomination. Despite the hold up, Hagel appears likely to be confirmed once Congress returns from a 10-day recess.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that the Republicans' filibuster was "really unfortunate."
"This isn't high school getting ready for a football game," Reid said. "We're trying to confirm somebody to run the defense of our country."

I grabbed this from Biz Pac review. I know the President has been on MTP before but you would think the felony investigation would have put a halt on the interview. Makes me a little sad to think of the last minute ratings boost Gregory is going to get from this interview. Here is the whole article:
David Gregory, under ‘felony investigation,’ scores interview with Obama
You would think President Obama’s advisors, certainly Secret Service, would have him steer clear of David Gregory considering he is under felony criminal investigation for possessing a banned high capacity ammunition magazine, but no. Obama will sit with Gregory in an exclusive interview on the fiscal cliff on this Sunday’s “Meet the Press.”
Gregory was scheduled to be on vacation Sunday, but those plans are off as NBC welcomes Obama for only the second time since he’s been President. The president appeared back in Sept. 2009 to discuss health care reform, according to Mediabistro.
The “Meet the Press” website has the following splashy announcement:
This Sunday, at a critical time for the fiscal cliff negotiations, David Gregory sits down exclusively with President Barack Obama in the final hours before the deadline. We’ll hear directly from the president about where things stand and whether a compromise is possible. Plus, David will talk with him about other key issues facing the country as he prepares to begin his second term in office.
Neither NBC nor Gregory has issued a single statement on the police investigation over the illegal rifle magazine or the White House petition calling for charges to be brought against Gregory. According to the WhiteHouse.gov website, a petition with 25,000 signatures in 30 days requires a response from the President. As of this writing there are just over 13,000 signatures. A few thousand more and maybe Gregory can start the interview by asking the President for his statement.
Actually, he may want to ask Obama for a pardon if he should get a felony conviction. Well, considering this is Obama’s first appearance in three years on “Meet the Press,” it seems a classic “wink, wink ‘atta boy” for NBC.
Maybe the Secret Service can assist D.C. Metro Police in taking Gregory into custody. I’d certainly tune in to see it.

There are many things covered in the interview, including Romney’s reaction to Bill Clinton’s speech at the Democratic National Convention, Ann Romney’s defense of her husband’s business practices and their wealth, and, perhaps most interestingly, his discussion of how his Mormon faith influenced his choice to run for office and leave his business career behind.

After Backing Anti-Birth Control Blunt Amendment, McCain Now Says GOP Needs To ‘Get Off’ War On Women
GREGORY: Are you concerned at all to see the focus, with certain elements of the Republican Party, on social issues? In your own state of Arizona, there’s this contraception bill that even the governor has said would put women in the uncomfortable position where they had to say to their employers why they wanted contraception, and why it should be covered — is that a bad road?
McCAIN: I am confident that that legislation will not reach the governor’s desk and if it did it would be vetoed. . . . It certainly does not reflect, in my view, the majority view of the people of Arizona.
GREGORY: Do you think that there is something of a war on women among Republicans?
McCAIN: I think we have to fix that. I think that there is a perception out there because of how this whole contraception issue played out — ah, we need to get off of that issue, in my view. I think we ought to respect the right of women to make choices in their lives and make that clear, and get back onto what the American people really care about.

Former presidential candidate and Mitt Romney supporter John McCain (R-AZ) expressed Sunday morning his fatigue over the number of debates in this Republican nomination cycle.
“We’ve got to stop the debates,” McCain told Meet The Press‘ David Gregory. “Enough with the debates, because they are driving up our candidates’, all of them, unfavorability. We have enough of that. They’ve turned into mud wrestling instead of an exposition of all our candidates views. And it’s time to recognize who the real adversary is, and it’s not each other.”
There have been a total of 19 GOP presidential debates this campaign season so far.

Jon Stewart discusses Mitt Romney's "devastating" attack on Newt Gingrich's Moon bases during the ABC debate and, like everyone else, Jon Stewart spent plenty of time discussing the $10,000 Mitt Romney bet with Rick Perry, but the host also returned to a familiar narrative: Ron Paul may have "killed it" at the debate, but what kind of press did he get from it? Paul supporters know how this one ends. As Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich duked it out in the first few minutes of the segment, Stewart shifted gears to Paul, making it seem like there was a different ending for the candidate this time. "How well did Ron Paul do?" he asked.
Stewart then rolls the clip with Paul speaking with David Gregory, who--in his Daily Show edit, at least--can't seem to ask him about anything other than Newt-Romney and if he'll endorse someone. Not usually what a candidate would expect to hear on a talk show after a decent debate....

She claims that Americans don't care if their gay brother or sister can't have families or serve in the military. She says America isn't concerned. I think she is wrong. Americans do care. She is asked specific questions and doesn't have answers. She clearly doesn't know why she believes what she believes.
Bachmann stutters through this interview. What about gay employees, cousins, sisters, brothers, soldiers, court personnel, and others who are gay? Her views are clear because she surrounds herself with people who agree with her. That is not a good idea especially if you are wrong and your peers are afraid to have a different opinion than yours. She claims that Americans don't care if their gay brother or sister can't... more

Here's an excellent observation from Mediaite's Rachel Sklar, who reminds us that while the "big news to come out of Meet The Press this week has been author Jon Krakauer's assertion that General Stanley McChrystal, commander of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, was implicated in the cover-up about the death of Pat Tillman," that big news had already been more or less broken by Jon Stewart and The Daily Show:
Krakauer was on [The Daily Show] over a month ago. It's surprising that this one flew under the radar, given how many sharp-eyed journalists, bloggers and media-watchers tune into the Daily Show, and regularly report on the news it makes. But it can and does happen, and happened here. What this says about Krakauer, McChrystal and his book is no different than what was picked up from Meet The Press. But what this says about so-called 'fake' news is, keep your eye on it. People with important things to say make a point of trying to say them on the Daily Show. So don't fall asleep before the interview.
All of that is absolutely right, and it's worth pointing out that Stewart conducted his interview with a greater awareness of where the "news" is in an interview with Jon Krakauer. That meant that Daily Show viewers got an interview that began with the Pat Tillman story and went on for six probing minutes. Meanwhile, at Meet The Press, Krakauer sat on the set like window dressing, and the subject of Pat Tillman wasn't broached until the show's final sequence of questions. Why have him on then?

David Gregory inherits the longest-running program on television as well as a position of power at "Meet the Press."
It's something the late Tim Russert, who was moderator from 1991 until his death in June, knew well: "Meet the Press" is the place for politicians to make their name, try to rebuild their reputations or undergo a trial by fire. It's where a dedicated audience hears from newsmakers every week. It was also, and still remains, the highest-rated Sunday public affairs program. It's what Russert built to be the top Sunday morning show for the past decade.
It's a legacy that Gregory respects and wants to continue.
"The mission is very much the same, holding our leaders accountable and being a treasured platform to do that," he said Sunday afternoon, hours after NBC News had signed him to a multiyear contract to moderate "Meet the Press." "I'm humbled to be in the role that I'm going to."
And it comes at an important time for the country, Gregory said. He said viewers shouldn't expect a lot of changes right away, but he said he wants "Meet the Press" to continue to be a platform to help people understand the news from Washington, D.C. He'll have help with the experience of longtime executive producer Betsy Fischer, who NBC News also re-upped to remain with the program.
