September was already a dark month for New Yorkers. It started out with observances for the seventh anniversary of 9/11. Then the stock market went and crashed.

On tuesday, October 7, 2008 Laura Gilbert went to Wall Street to give away her "Zero Dollars". In the next two days she received over 5000 hits on her web site, was interviewed on CNN, and had hundreds of articles written about her on the internet and in the mainstream press. Many people have contacted her requesting the "Zero Dollars" and the free art has been offered for sale by others on ebay and other places. What is the "Zero Dollar" project, why is the art free, and who is Laura Gilbert? Here is the story.

I often wonder if these economic crises are enacted by the powerful men at top for whatever reason it may be; redistribution of wealth, jump-starting economies, etc. Regardless, they're unavoidable events that we live through, sort of like a society revamp or reformat.I often wonder if these economic crises are enacted by the powerful men at top for... more

"The stocks are crushed" is the best way to describe this morning’s disastrous economic landscape. The Dow Jones Industrial Index’s record 777.68 points (7%) drop yesterday was the biggest one-day point drop in its 102-year history. In the halls of politics, yesterday put a bookend on what now seems to be the last and bleak chapter of the Bush administration’s economic record. On Monday, the Dow finished lower than when George W. Bush assumed the presidency: 10,587.59 on January 19, 2001 compared to 10,365.45 at its close on September 29, 2008.
This article includes photographs of activity on the New York Stock Exchange yesterday, as well as two videos that present vintage photographs from the Stock Market Crash of 1929."The stocks are crushed" is the best way to describe this morning’s... more

I was amazed to see how many homes were going into foreclosure around Southern California. What's staggering is the amount of homes just in California alone. Over 40,000 homes went into foreclosure in Cali in April of 2008. This was 90% of the home foreclosures nation wide. Antelope Valley is a very scary example of how the mortgage fallout is affecting everyday people. Another subject that was not touched upon, due to lack of time, was the impact that it is having on local economy, retail and families. Perhaps a follow up story is in the works... alright, alright I'm already working on it.I was amazed to see how many homes were going into foreclosure around Southern... more

"After several years of taking Fosomax, my aunt (who was otherwise quite healthy, comes from great genetic stock) is dying from myelodysplastic syndrome - when your bone marrow stops doing its job... I know in my heart it was caused by Fosomax. Fosomax targets the bones and there are no long term studies regarding prolonged use of Fosomax and its impact on blood marrow. She's been on it for many years but otherwise healthy. Merck, if you are reading this....you're going down."
This is just one quote from askapatient.com including thousands of people like you who are begging you not to take some of these dangerous drugs.

This is a startling and devastating story about the fact that WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY to FIX OUR FOSSIL FUEL ADDICTION and to stop feeling guilty about one of the most human and healthy things in the world - travel. With these cars, WE COULD REACH ZERO EMISSIONS (by using solar and wind and hydrothermal energy) to fuel them electrically.
Who is the culprit for keeping these cars away from us? - The oil companies and automakers who do not want to live up to standards.
Watch the trailer and please, watch the movie. It's inspiringThis is a startling and devastating story about the fact that WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY... more
