Interested in picking up The Ballad of Gay Tony on Xbox Live's Deal of the Week but aren't yet decided? Let CFD!'s Sage Knox sway your opinion with his opinion:
"Grand Theft Auto IV’s storyline comes to a close with Rockstar North’s latest expansion, Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony. The successor to February 2009’s The Lost and Damned, BoGT provides the third and final perspective on the original game’s missions involving stolen diamonds and Gracie’s kidnapping.
My experience leading up to playing The Ballad of Gay Tony wasn’t exactly encouraging. The opinions I heard were negative and I didn’t exactly consider another romp through the same city all that interesting. Much to my surprise, my time with the game was ultimately one of my favorite experiences with a Grand Theft Auto title."

If you held off on picking up Grand Theft Auto IV’s last DLC expansion, The Ballad of Gay Tony, when it originally came out late last year we can pretty much forgive you. Despite belonging to one of the industry’s biggest franchises, it was pretty easy to overlook a DLC release as the Fall titles came tumbling in.
And now it seems like your inadvertent procrastination has paid off as The Ballad of Gay Tony is the new Xbox Live “Deal of the Week.”

You’ll be able to do more than base jump off skyscrapers and hit the clubs of Liberty City when The Ballad of Gay Tony drops on Xbox 360 this week (both on its own as DLC, as well as being a part of the Episodes From Liberty City retail package); you’ll be able to sit on your fat duff in-game and enjoy the new programming that’s been added to the television. One of those featured shows will be… wait for it… Princess Robot Bubblegum! ZOMG KAWAII DESU NE!?
*Ahem* Sorry about that. We had a bit of a lapse of sanity there for a moment. But seriously, doesn’t Rockstar realize that if you compare this to a lot of the anime that was released in the States on video in the mid-’90s, this isn’t really that much of a parody? Come now, boys – for parody to work, it needs to exaggerate things in a comical fashion; this is probably damn close to being a straight lift of a series that actually exists.
Also, I’m sure I could make a joke somewhere about the levels of irony surrounding video game geeks watching fake anime inside of a video game or some such, but I haven’t had my morning caffeine yet. You guys can insert something appropriately witty yourself, I’m sure. Ahh, escapism. You’ll be able to do more than base jump off skyscrapers and hit the clubs of... more

Have you ever thought your nightlong gaming sessions were hardcore? As the sun rose in the morning, after a full night of gaming, did you consider yourself one of gaming’s elite? The Grand Theft Auto series is well know for its satirical take on pop culture and for the most part, it has done a good job of closely treading the very fine line between believable, if exaggerated, realism and blatant comedic stereotyping.
I suppose that’s why I’m a little less keen on the newest trailer for The Ballad of Gay Tony than I have been for previous promotional materials – the TMZ-ish parody of Fizz just seems to abandon any pretense of realism for total over-the-top ridiculousness.
Although, now that I think about it, is that really so different from the actual, near-comedic state of affairs in Hollywood these days? Hrmm. Touché, Rockstar. Touché.The Grand Theft Auto series is well know for its satirical take on pop culture and for... more

The newest promotional video for GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (and, by extension, the Episodes From Liberty City retail disc) doesn’t take the cinematic, storytelling approach of the previous two. Instead, we get a dose of “reality” from Liberty City’s own right-wing news outlet, Weazel News.
Terrorism, weapons trafficking, rampant paranoia – something to get up in arms about? Or just another day in Liberty City? You make the call. Either way, stay tuned to the Weazel! The newest promotional video for GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (and, by extension,... more

Good interview with GTAgaming from rockstarbase.com.... and they actually touch on the "controversy" of the title: " I couldn’t really imagine it would significantly impact homosexuals. Damn, Rockstar is full of surprises. Who could have guessed that the developer’s franchise - built on gritty crime, bloody violence, hardened characters and grossly exaggerated stereotypes - would debut an entry with words like “ballad” and “gay” right in the title? When the first downloadable content starred leather-clad biker gangs listening to classic rock, who could foresee a second expansion’s logo with rainbow lettering and disco ball sparkles?
Actually… everyone. If you were paying close enough attention during the events of GTA IV and The Lost and Damned, as a matter of fact, you could predict a huge portion of The Ballad of Gay Tony, including everything from heroes and villains to locations and specific missions.
Skeptical? Here are 13 things we already know.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those great people behind the GTA franchise, Take-Two Interactive have 'rubbished' the rumours that there will be the fifth installment in the Grand Theft Auto chain available by Christmas '09.
US magazine Game Informer claimed that Rockstar had been working on a new title that was believed to be set in Tokyo, but that seems like it was a bit of a porky pie.
But, it's not the end of the world GTA lovers, Rockstar has admitted that they expect both of the planned GTA IV expansion packs to be released by the end of October, with the first, entitled, The Lost & The Damned, arriving as early as February 17.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but those great people behind the GTA franchise,... more

Grand Theft Auto is a franchise that has been blamed for quite a lot of bad things. From teaching children that violence is fun or that shooting people on the street is rewarded to engaging in police chases just for the thrills, no aspect of the game has been left untouched by various anti-video game representatives, like Jack Thompson.
Now, it seems that another thing can be blamed on the famous sandbox game, one that can be really tough to classify as bad or good. It seems that a 6-year-old boy from Virginia, after missing the bus that usually took him to school, decided to put into practice all of those hours of driving around in the virtual cities of Grand Theft Auto or Monster Truck Jam, and took his family car on the highway in order to get to school.
Needless to say, things in real life aren't like in video games, and the boy crashed the sedan but luckily he only suffered mild injuries and was taken care of at the hospital. It seems that the boy took advantage of the fact that his mother was still asleep, and, in order not to be late for school, swiped the car keys and took off with the vehicle. According to the police, the young boy covered a lot of the 6-mile distance between his house and the school, but hit a utility pole just a mile before he could safely reach the school building.
“He was very intent on getting to school,” said Northumberland County Sheriff Chuck Wilkins. “When he got out of the car, he started walking to school. He did not want to miss breakfast and PE. This really is a story of miracles. The Lord was with him, along with everybody else on the highway.” Also, the police placed the child and his 4-year-old brother into protective custody. The two parents have been charged with child endangerment and are currently held in jail.
Although the child's attempt to get to school is quite righteous, his parents need to take more care of him, and not let him play a Mature-rated game like Grand Theft Auto if he is only 6 years old. Let's just hope that the parents received the right punishment in order to make them think twice about the ratings on the games they buy their children.Grand Theft Auto is a franchise that has been blamed for quite a lot of bad things.... more
