The work of M.C. Escher needs no introduction. We have all learned to appreciate the impossibilities that this master of illusion's artwork presents to the layman's eye. Nevertheless, it may come as a surprise for some, but many of the so-called 'impossible' drawings of M. C. Escher can be realized as actual physical objects. These objects will resemble the Escher's drawing, of the same name, from a certain viewing direction. This work below presents some of these three-dimensional models that were designed and built using geometric modeling and computer graphics tools.. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/your-details/43023-mc-escher-for-realThe work of M.C. Music uses the laws of vibration to manifest aurally what exists at the center of everything. Into our reality springs a non-visual harmonic law that is universal. The notes and intervals of music speak directly to the chakra centers and causes them to vibrate in harmony to the vibration of a string or vocal chords, speakers moving through the air, or the sound of someone’s lips making a farting noise through a metal tube. http://www.freeturbine.com/index.php/news/general-music-news/item/the-sacred-geometry-of-musicMusic uses the laws of vibration to manifest aurally what exists at the center of... more

In my New York Journal of Books review of Leeches I write: "David Albahari’s challenging yet engaging, cerebral, magical-realist, experimental, post-modernist novel Leeches provides a portrait of life in Belgrade, capital of an ideologically charged and xenophobic Serbia, in the months preceding the NATO bombing campaign. As elsewhere in history, Belgrade’s Jewish community is the proverbial canary in the Serbian coal mine; considering the Serbian government’s behavior toward other former Yugoslav republics and their ethnic groups, this should not be surprising." My review ends with two lengthy excerpts from the novel and challenges the reader to decide for him/herself whether their intellectual content enhances the narrative or is pretentious erudition for its own sake.In my New York Journal of Books review of Leeches I write: "David... more

Geometry is a branch of mathematics that centers around shapes, sizes, position, and the properties of space. Derived from the Ancient Greek, geometry means “earth measurement.” If you have ever used a slide rule, graphs, charts, or any similar piece of mathematics, chances are you have done geometry.

Whilst you might not think that homophobia and geometry go together, tenth graders in Washington DC have proved otherwise after being set a task by their teacher to show what they’d learnt about deductive reasoning and how to explain mathematical concepts using a proof.
Whilst some used teenage pregnancy as their subject, whilst others created an art installation to protest against human trafficking, Clara Lincoln, 14, and Keonie Smith, 17, decided to base their project on gay rights.
Talking about their project which involved them creating a video created a video in support of gay rights, Clara said:
“We want people on the fence or who oppose this issue to see that youth really do care about gay rights. And for those who support the issue, we want them to know that a multicultural group of students back them up.”
“I have a lot of people close to my heart who are gay and I feel like they have a right to be who they want and to know that my community supports them.”
Keonie also explained why they chose a video format saying:
“We decided to do a video because each individual should have human rights. A lot of my family members and friends are gay and they’re perfectly normal. They just have a different perspective on who they date.”
Alice Cook, the teacher who set the project said she set the project because she feels students should learn how to make the world a better place through mathematics, “I wanted to come to Capital City because we promote project-based learning and helping students learn math as a way to understand the world. Every topic should have a social justice component.”
Well done on a great video Clara and Keonie we hope it got you top marks, you definitely get a big gold gay star from us!Whilst you might not think that homophobia and geometry go together, tenth graders in... more

Remedios Varo Uranga was influenced by a wide range of mystic and hermetic traditions, both Western and non-Western. She turned with equal interest to the ideas of C. G. Jung as to the theories of G. I. Gurdjieff, P. D. Ouspensky, Helena Blavatsky, Meister Eckhart, and the Sufis, and was as fascinated with the legend of the Holy Grail as with sacred geometry, alchemy and the I-Ching. She saw in each of these an avenue to self-knowledge and the transformation of consciousness. .... http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php?option=com_wbgallery&Itemid=2&id=543Remedios Varo Uranga was influenced by a wide range of mystic and hermetic traditions,... more

What is reality made of what part does music play in our experience?
I've linked the video from my blogger page...
As Synchromusicology is described by Steve Wilner himself:
"The rank of Magus is reserved for an elite class of philosophers and metaphysicians who hold the keys to divine knowledge. Mundane, consumer-oriented culture of postmodern Earth has cast down these noble spiritual teachers in the name of hyper-rational materialism. Ancient wisdom is lost amidst the rise of flashy exoteric performance, forcing the magus outward into the exoteric categories of stage (MAG)icians and stage (MUS)icians.
Clues as to the tangible content of a lost musical knowledge are scattered throughout encyclopedias and books on tonal harmony.
Synchromusicologists are a new branch of independent researchers who gather data on the Hidden Origins of Western Music and the power of sympathetic geometry to generate Love and to heal wounds. This video offers you the first tastes of what is to come from this school of thought."What is reality made of what part does music play in our experience?

Alicia Boole Stott was an Irish woman of the end of the 19th century who worked on four dimensional geometry. Although she never studied mathematics, nor went to a University, she learned herself to ``see'' the fourth dimension. She is remembered for finding all three dimensional sections of the four dimensional polytopes (i.e., the analogues of the Platonic solids in three dimensions), and for the discovery of many of the semi-regular polytopes. She built beautiful models of the sections of the polytopes. Due to her close collaboration with Professor P. H. Schoute of Groningen, a collection of some of her models is present at the University of Groningen.
Despite having no formal education in mathematics, she still possessed a great power of geometric visualization in hyperspace. From the age of seventeen until her death, she remained interested in regular and semi-regular four-dimensional polytopes and made several important discoveries in this area. For example, she showed that there were 6 regular polyhedra in 4-dimensional space and made physical models related to her work.Alicia Boole Stott was an Irish woman of the end of the 19th century who worked on... more
