Peace books for children by Honeymoon Press. The author, Tiana Krahn, was born in the UK and currently lives in California with her illuminous daughter and their "crooked cat Fred". When she couldn't find the right book that was sustainable and stylish, and that her daughter could put in her mouth, she decided to create her own.
There are two books: peace and love. They are both bright, with adorable images, and wording throughout the book. They are also meant to open up a dialog about what peace and love means in different cultures and languages. You can sing to your kids (or with them), what a great message to send them at this point in time. It leaves the reader - and listener - happy and empowered.
These books that teach peace and love by Honeymoon Press are printed on 100% recycled paper which is also 100% chlorine free paper. The ink is vegetable based. Imagine how many things kids and babies put in their mouth, books included, so we better to be safe than sorry! She also said that the the whole point of the company was to make a book that was 100% green. This educational book will sure be popular amongst parents and kids ;-)
Below is the a little more detail about what each book teaches:
Peace: is a book about peaceful people doing peaceful things. It teaches how to say the word 'peace' in several languages, but also focuses on the ways people find peace in their simple day to day activities.
Love: explores the concept of love, and depicts the myriad of ways we experience it. This book shows that love of nature, and of ourselves, and others is all interconnected, as it celebrates loves importance in our lives.Available here: http://www.ecobold.com/products/54-green-kids-books-peace Peace... more

I actually just found a video that shows how they do it, just go to their site and click on process. In the end you see that this is almost like a piece of art! Here are some ideas on what to use this storage box as: surprise packaging, coffee table organizer, remote control garage, cell phone caddy, desk organizer, camera storage and any other secret you might have!
Blue Tea: the blue tea company was founded by John Reyers who inherited an ancient recipe from an elder of his tribe. The ingredients were said to pacify hostile warriors after the battles. This tea has a special ingredient called Palo Azul that's proven to enhance health. They say on their site that bioflavinoids and antioxidants found in Blue Tea have been said to have significant health benefits according to Modern Medical Research. They also say that by drinking Blue Tea one could reduce the risk of cancer. This tea contains tannings which are said to help prevent urinary tract infections. It's also caffeine free.
Terracycle Speakers: these M&M speakers done by Terracycle are made with recycled M&M boxes, in fact everything Terracycle makes were previously trash, which in the green world, we call this process upcycling. They also donate a small percentage of each trash a school or an individual sends them and so far have donated over $1.5M. You can also find other cool gift ideas such as a circuit board desk clock, a bike chain frame or an oreo wrapper kite.
Reusable water bottle by U-Turn 2 Tap: their reusable water bottle is fabulous, it is made with food grade stainless steel, it's BPA-free, phthalate free, the paints are non-toxic and even the cap is BPA-free There are several colors and sizes available, they've several designs to choose from and they're all made by eco-friendly artists. And last but not least, they donate 1% of their revenue to the planet. The perfect green gift for that friend who hasn't made the switch yet or your gym buddies who don't have a reusable water bottle.
iPad Sleeve by Brenthaven: this company makes iPad sleeves with 100% recycled billboard. The corners are excellent protection and inside there's a faux suede liner to help keep the iPad scratch free. There's even a video on their site of them dropping this sleeve with an iPad inside from about 3 feet high, nothing happened to it. This sleeve has a lifetime warranty and is very affordable, something that their competitors can't match. Another cool thing about Brenthaven is that every marketing material is made with recycled paper and printed on soy based ink, way to go above and beyond!

Jeremy Mayer spent more than 1,400 hours at the typewriter in the past year, but he wasn’t banging out a sci-fi novel. Instead, he was building Nude IV, aka Delilah — a 6-foot-tall sculpture made entirely of typewriter parts. Mayer uses vintage typewriters in his intriguing artwork, carefully taking them apart and then recombining the mechanical pieces into anthropomorphic sculptures. http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/section-blog/8117-recycled-robotsJeremy Mayer spent more than 1,400 hours at the typewriter in the past year, but he... more

These tie products by Rumpel Silk Skin are incredible. The owner, Spring Garrett, makes all kinds of things out of recycled ties. We have reviewed three tie products: her tie wallet, neck pocket and the back purse. But she also makes quite a few other things such as wine holder, tie skirt, a little snake toy, pouches and bags, cell phone pockets, and even a tie pillow!
Here's a little bit of history on the ties she uses: silk ties are beautiful examples of textiles at their finest. In their original purpose ties are worn by men as a signal to the world. These ties say something about the wearer…what they do, what they like, how they feel. Now these ties communicate something else that the wearer of Rumpelsilkskin creations desires and delights in making the most of what we have.
Rumpelsilkskin’s garments and accessories are a fun and easy way to add zest to a simple outfit. Wear them over a plain colored knit top with jeans or dress pants and you have an outfit that won’t soon be forgotten. You’ll get many compliments as people recognize the form of the ties but have never seen them worn that way before.
The shape of the ties and their fabrics inspire the creation of a wide variety of items from garments and pillows to pouches and wallets.
I invite you to explore these fun and unique creations and see how beautiful going "green" can be.

This cool elephant dung paper will make your day. I found this company, Mr Ellie Pooh, a while ago while browsing the Green Festival and found out that they have all kinds of recycled elephant dung paper products, from greeting cards to note pads to stationary products, note boxes, notebooks, scrapbooks, photo albums, photo frames and even elephant poo pins and poo magnets. They have all kinds of paper products that's not only helping elephant conservation in Sri Lanka, but that's also green and eco-friendly because their dung is completely natural, biodegradable, compostable and recyclable. On top of that the end result is an acid-free paper. Another really neat thing they make is recycled business cards, made on an eco-friendly printing environment and, yes, also made out of elephant dung. And for those of you wondering: does elephant dung paper smell? I've the answer for you: absolutely not!

- Helps elephant conservation in Sri Lanka
Here's some more in depth info from their site:
Sri Lanka is home to about a tenth of the estimated global total of 40,000 Asian elephants in the wild. Elephants are not being killed in Sri Lanka for their tusks, as tuskers are rare; they are not being killed for meat, since no one eats elephant meat; they are not being killed for their hides, since there is no market for elephant hides in the leather industry. Instead, elephants are being killed simply because they interfere with agriculture. Since 1950, it is likely that more than 4,000 elephants have been destroyed as a direct consequence of the conflict between man and elephant.
The elephant is running out of space in Sri Lanka. Most of the protected areas inhabited by elephants are small, less than 1000 sq. Km in size (900 sq. Miles). Nevertheless, elephants, especially the bulls, may range over hundreds of square kilometers in the course of a season. Their sheer size and gargantuan appetite mean that elephants and people cannot live together where agriculture is the dominant form of land use, unless the damage they cause to farmers can be compensated. There are no easy solutions for resolving the human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka. Much will depend on how rural people perceive the worth of the elephant. to stop the wanton killing of elephants requires changing the perceptions of the farmers who suffer constant depredations from the animals. Many are now convinced that the only way elephants and human beings can exist successfully in the same environment is through finding ways to use the elephant as a sustainable economic resource.
Elephant dung may be that resource. It is a commodity that is freely available. On average, an adult elephant produces about 180-200 kg (500 lbs) of it per day. Moreover, it provides a way of converting a liability into an asset in conflict areas.
Until now, no one had any use for it. However, project Maximus, designed to manufacture paper from it, may help change the perception of the farmers of the economic value of the elephant in conflict areas.
Since an elephant’s diet is all vegetarian, the waste produced is basically raw cellulose. Thoroughly cleaned and processed, the cellulose is converted into a uniquely beautiful textured product, marketed as “Ellie Pooh Paper”. This acid free, linen-like papyrus-type paper can be formed into art and construction projects, notebooks, cards and assorted gift items where the only limitation is ones imagination. These products have proved extremely popular among many in the local population and among foreign tourists.
Although this paper may not completely resolve the ongoing human-elephant conflict in Sri Lanka, its use for the benefit of the farmers who suffer from elephant depredations will certainly go some way in raising the tolerance of the farmers towards the elephant. If the elephant is used as an economic asset that contributes meaningfully to the welfare of the people, then the people themselves will not want to see it disappear from their area. In the final analysis, all of our conservation efforts will be futile if we do not have the support of the local communities. "Pachyderm Paper" can plan an important role in the conservation of its provider.Their site: http://store.mrelliepooh.com/grca.html Use 25% off coupon code: ecobold... more

UK artist Ryan McElhinney paints and lacquers piles of action figures and toys around lamps to form a truly bizarre sculpture that captures the joy of childhood in a practical way. Looking at these lamps and finding figures or characters that you played with as a kid is bound to bring back a flood of fond memories. McElhinney up-cycles these old toys and affixes them together with adhesive and a coat of high gloss polyurethane.
