Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih, the first Arab-American captured the Miss USA 2010 on Sunday night. Congratulations to Rima!
There are news reports on Monday however, that Rima is also a champion pole dancer. Photos of Rima competing in the “Stripper 101″ contest in 2007 have surfaced and there are reports that organizers are looking into the matter.
Really?
The Miss USA Pageant caused its own controversy when contestants posed in sexy photos before the start of the competition.
Photos of the contestants were taken in fishnets, lacy lingerie, showed a lot of cleavage and bare skin, with most posing on a bed or couch for their photo ops.

Researchers have developed a computer software that can identify why a dog is barking, according to a study published in the journal Animal Cognition.
A research team from Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary, recorded more than 6,000 barks from 14 different Hungarian sheepdogs in six different situations: alone, ball, fight, play, stranger and walk. Those barks were then fed into a software developed by researchers from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.
On average, the software correctly identified the dog's situation from its bark 43 percent of the time, better than the average human performance of 40 percent. It was able to identify which dog was barking 52 percent of the time, also a higher success rate than the human one.
The software's accuracy varied widely, however, depending on the situation the dog was in. The software did best at identifying the "stranger" bark, with a success rate of 63 percent. It was only able to correctly identify the "play" bark 6 percent of the time. The software's ability to identify individuals also depended on the type of bark, ranging from a high of 60 percent for a "play" bark to a low of 30 percent for a "stranger" bark.
According to lead researcher Csaba Molnár, the findings suggest that there is less variation between the way dogs bark at strangers than the way they bark while playing. He suggested that this could be due to the fact that historically, dogs were bred for their guard ability, which necessitated a guard bark that is easy to identify by humans. There was no need to breed dogs for consistent play behavior, however.
Juliane Kaminski of the Max Planck Institute suggested an alternate interpretation - the play barks might have evolved over time in response to the different reactions that they elicit from humans.
"In fight situations, the dog barks aggressively and the human runs away, end of story," she said, which would explain the lack of variation in those barks. Researchers have developed a computer software that can identify why a dog is barking,... more

YouTube is investigating a sudden surge in traffic that boosted a clip of a Brazilian pop band to the top of its most viewed video chart.
The clip called Music is My Hot Hot Sex is by the Brazilian electro band Cansei De Ser Sexy and it has been viewed by nearly 90 million people.
However, in just three weeks, it got 40 million views pushing it from tenth place to YouTube's top position and the surge has left YouTube fans wondering if the 'books have been cooked'.
Update:
The video's Italian creator, who uses the pseudonym Clarus Bartel, had described the video as "ugly" and "made on a whim"
In an unexpected twist, the Italian factory worker, blogger, and amateur photographer who uploaded the video last year, has deleted the clip which was listed as having been viewed a world record 114.3 million times. Evolution Of Dance ranked second with 78.6 million views.

SAN FRANCISCO - California's highest court on Tuesday upheld the state's gay-marriage ban but allowed existing same-sex marriages to stand.
The California Supreme Court handed down its decision in a series of lawsuits seeking to overturn November's Proposition 8. Gay-rights advocates maintain the ballot measure so dramatically revised the state constitution's equal protection clause that it needed the Legislature's approval before it could be put to voters.
The seven-member court upheld the initiative as a constitutional expression of the electorate's will, but also decided to sustain the marriages of an estimated 18,000 gay couples who wed before the measure passed with 52 percent of the vote.

Interactive artist daniel rozin works in a very particular artistic milieu, making mirrors from unreflective surfaces. one of his creations, 'the wooden mirror' is a testament to his skill in this area. the mirror uses 830 square pieces of wood which are hooked up to an equal number of small motors which move the wooden blocks according to a built in camera.
the camera picks up movement in light and somehow transfers the signal to the wood. the result is an eerie representation of reality depicted in tiny wooden pixels. since building 'the wooden mirror' rozin has experimented with a number of other materials.Interactive artist daniel rozin works in a very particular artistic milieu, making... more

"The Oort Cloud is a spherical cloud of comets believed to lie roughly 50,000 AU, or nearly a light-year from the Sun, which places the cloud at nearly a quarter of the distance to Proxima Centauri, the nearest star to the Sun. The Kuiper belt and scattered disc, the other two known reservoirs of trans-Neptunian objects, are less than one thousandth the Oort cloud's distance. The outer extent of the Oort cloud defines the boundary of our Solar System..."
