The "rebels" in Misrata in Libya have driven out the entire Black population of the city, according to a chilling story in The Wall Street Journal today under the headline Libya City Torn by Tribal Feud."
The "rebels" now eye the city of Tawergha, 25 miles away, and vow to cleanse it of all Black people once they seize the city. Isn't this the perfect definition of the term "genocide"?
According to The Journal's article, the "rebels" refer to themselves as "the brigade for purging slaves, black skin." The Journal quotes a rebel commander Ibrahim al-Halbous saying, of Black Libyans, "They should pack up," and that "Tawergha no longer exists, only Mistrata."
You won't read this kind of article in The New York Times, which has become as journalistically corrupt and as compromised as the old PRAVDA, during the Soviet era. This editorial page has been insisting since the beginning of the Libya conflict that the "rebels" embraced racism and used the allegation that Muammar al-Quathafi had employed mercenaries from other African countries as a pretext to massacre Black Libyans.
The evidence of public lynching of Black people are readily available online through simple Google or YouTube searches, even though The New York Times has completely ignored this major story. Does anyone believe that if people of African descent controlled the editorials in The New York Times or even the news pages that such a huge and damning story would be ignored?
If the case were reversed and Black Libyans were committing ethnic cleansing against non-Black Libyans, does anyone believe that the people who now control the editorials or the news pages at The New York Times would ignore such a story? Evidently, it doesn't much bother the sages at The Times that Black Libyans and specifically being targeted for liquidation because of their skin color.
Instead The New York Times is busy, as in a recent editorial boasting of its support for NATO's bombing campaign, which this week alone is reported to have killed 20 civilians. The Times has also ignored Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s call that the International Criminal Court (ICC) investigate NATO commanders on possible war crimes in connection to Libyan civilians killed.
The Times can't write about the ethnic cleansing of Black Libyans and migrants from other African countries because it would diminish the reputation of the "rebels" who the Times have fully embraced, even after the ICC also reported that they too have committed war crimes. Instead, The Times is comfortable with the simplistic narrative: "al-Quathafi bad," and "rebels good," regardless of the fact that The Wall Street Journal also reported that the rebels are being trained by former al-Qaeda leaders who were released from U.S. custody on Guantanamo Bay.
The Times also has totally ignored the African Union (AU) peace plan, which actually calls for a ceasefire, negotiations for a constitution, and democratic elections, all to be monitored by the International community.
So what can one say about the Times for ignoring the ethnic cleansing of Black Libyans by the "rebels" in Mistrata, with the help of NATO? Does this make The New York Times culpable of the ethnic cleansing, since the newspaper not only deliberately ignores the story, but also falsely depicts the "rebels" as Libya's saviors?

WASHINGTON — American and allied diplomats pressed the United Nations Security Council on Thursday to authorize a broad range of military actions against Libya, making a last-minute effort to prevent Moammar Kadafi's advancing forces from completely overrunning the outgunned rebels.
In a shift from the Obama administration's earlier caution on military action, U.S. officials urged the council diplomats in a series of morning meetings to vote for a resolution that would permit airstrikes on Libyan ground forces and aircraft that have encircled the rebel stronghold of Benghazi.
A senior Pentagon official said U.S. military operations could begin quickly if the U.N. approved the action, aimed at protecting civilians in rebel-held areas and stopping the momentum of Kadafi's forces.
Proposals for a no-fly zone or other military action have faced strong resistance in recent weeks from traditional U.S. allies, such as Germany, as well as Russia and China. But council members have grown increasingly worried about a looming humanitarian disaster in Benghazi, and some U.S. officials have expressed confidence that the resolution will be adopted.

WASHINGTON — The Senate easily passed an almost $60 billion war funding bill Thursday, but anxiety over out-of-control budget deficits led House leaders to drop tens of billions of dollars in spending from a separate catchall bill anchored by an extension of jobless benefits.
Confronted with a rebellion by Democratic moderates, House leaders planned to dump overboard $24 billion in aid to states and allow generous health insurance subsidies for laid-off workers to expire. The changes were an effort to round up votes to extend unemployment benefits and renew more than 50 popular tax breaks that expired last year.
Help for doctors facing a big cut in Medicare reimbursements would also be dropped from the measure, aides and lobbyists said, and is unlikely to be resurrected by a vote on Friday.
Democrats will miss their self-imposed deadline of passing the jobless benefits measure before Memorial Day, even if the House passes the bill Friday. The Senate announced Thursday that it will not hold any more votes until senators return from their holiday break June 7.
The steps by House leaders could reduce the deficit impact of the bill to as little as $30 billion or so in hopes of winning over moderate "Blue Dog" Democrats unhappy about adding to the deficit as the national debt is on the verge of topping $13 trillion. A version circulated last week would have added $134 billion to the deficit.

The history of war has long included that of politicians who justify war in the name of peace.
After ordering the deaths of thousands or millions of people, they insist on tormenting the distraught survivors with disingenuous hand-wringing, mythological history and self-congratulation.
They demonize their victims, marginalize their suffering, and never apologize.
On Thursday in Oslo, after less than a year in office, President Obama took his place among this parade of the most cynical of historical figures.
Before directly addressing the specific role of the United States, Mr. Obama framed the history of warfare in the context of "just war" theory.
What he did not explain was that it was the bloody and catastrophic results of such "moral" justifications for war that brought the modern world to the brink of destruction and led it to instead adopt explicit international treaties and the binding prohibitions on the "threat or use of force" contained in the United Nations Charter.
As President Franklin Delano Roosevelt told Congress on his return from the Yalta conference, his proposal for the United Nations "ought to spell the end of the system of unilateral action, the exclusive alliances, the spheres of influence, the balances of power, and all the other expedients that have been tried for centuries - and have always failed. We propose to substitute for all these a universal organization in which all peace-loving nations will finally have a chance to join."
Or, as Richard Barnet wrote in Roots of War in 1972, "It is exactly because moral standards are so difficult to apply wisely to foreign policy issues that it becomes necessary for survival to submit to objective, even arbitrary standards. There are some things that should not be done, whatever the circumstances or however plausible the provocation.

From conservative former House speaker Newt Gingrich to writers at the liberal Nation magazine, the insta-analyses found hope in Obama’s words, either in his justification for the war in Afghanistan or in his ultimate aspiration: to replace war with peace.
“I thought the speech was actually very good,” Mr. Gingrich said on the WNYC radio’s The Takeaway. “And he clearly understood that he had been given the prize prematurely, but he used it as an occasion to remind people, first of all, as he said, that there is evil in the world.”

Amazing speech of Ron Paul calling out the neoconservative republicans in 2003. Youtube wasn't around then so this came out much later and is still vital to help everyone understand the grave problems associated with the past administration and to see exactly what Obama inherited, although things have yet to change...

The military needs for Obama to double or triple our Afghanistan troop strength because the defense industry wants to make more money. We are now seeing new reports of terrorism threats, many of which are unsubstantiated. John McCain and Republican Presidential candidate have been accused of inciting dangerous hatred in their campaign against opponent Barack Obama.
McCain has been forced to try and tone down his supporters at his rallies as they increasingly shout out "terrorist", "liar" and even "kill him" when Obama is mentioned.
"He's a decent family man (and) citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about," McCain said at the town-hall meeting in Lakeville, Minnesota.
The plea, which seems to undercut the thrust of his aggressively negative ad campaign, drew boos from the crowd but appreciative recognition from Obama.
Critics say the seething anger seen at McCain rallies has been whipped up by campaign ads which have accused the Democrat of associating with terrorists.
Civil rights campaigner John Lewis today said McCain and Palin were "sowing the seeds of hatred and division" with their incendiary rhetoric against Obama.
"As public figures with the power to influence and persuade, Senator McCain and (Alaska) Governor Palin are playing with fire, and if they are not careful, that fire will consume us all," Lewis said in a statement on Politico.com
McCain has also been forced to sack a prominent Virginia Republican figure after he wrote a newspaper column mocking a potential Barack Obama administration.

On Aug 27 2008 at the Democratic Convention in Denver, Vice-presidential candidate Sen. Joseph Biden presented the plan for the real war, the war against China, Russia. He repeated the key points pushed by Zbigniew Brzezinski in his obsessive determination to go to the final clash with Russia and Asia.
For Biden, The greates mistake of the Bush administration was its failure "to face the biggest forces shaping this century. The emergence of Russia, China and India's great powers".
"What was the "consequence of this neglect"? "Russia challenging… Georgia's freedom." The Obama-Biden administration will repair those criminal mistakes... Barack and I will end that neglect. We will hold Russia accountable."
"The wars of the Bush administration were, so to speak the wrong ones.
"The new administration will unchain the real war. The war to confront the emergence of Russia, China, India.

And the Obama campaign actually derided it. Where is the opposition party in this country? Isn't John "bomb bomb bomb Iran" McCain a warmonger? And to add to this, Clinton has even stated they are "friends." I truly am baffled at this. Will the Democrats and Republicans actually fuse their parties together at some point? It sure seems to be going that way. Perhaps if they both weren't so concerned about playing to the Republican base more than their own they could at least be honest. Or is it because such a truth will only fall back on them for voting for this war and funding it?And the Obama campaign actually derided it. Where is the opposition party in this... more
