People in opposition to Comcast Cable – Part Three
Speaker - Harold B. Pritchett addresses the Cable Video and Telecommunications Commission of Wilmington, Delaware on the Needs and Community review for the future of Comcast Cable in the city. Wilmington, Delaware community leaders want: channels for governmental meetings to be aired, educational channels for the local schools, public channels for the citizens-at-large, continued live leased access television, and fully-staffed production studios that would train people in media making and citizen journalism. The people own the right-of-ways and the air waves not a corporation or the government. Wilmington’s cable channel 28 was the stepping stone to the political support of current Vice President Joe Biden, who appeared on many local channel 28 television shows to sustain his career?People in opposition to Comcast Cable – Part Three

People in Opposition to Comcast Cable – Part Two
The City of Wilmington, Delaware announced that a survey to evaluate Comcast Cable Service was mailed to residents. This survey will help the Cable Video and Telecommunications Commission develop the future needs of the community and assess the current level of service provided by Comcast Cable. City leaders are following up rumors that Comcast Cable wants to shut-down live community programming after over thirty years of service. Residents have voiced their concern about Community Cable Stations Channel 28 and 190. The Leased Access Producers Association (LAPA) is asking Wilmington citizens to sign a card pledging to change their Video Service Provider if Comcast Cable shuts the local community station down. Comcast Cable’s Franchise Agreement expires with the City of Wilmington October 2010. The people own the right-of-ways and the air waves not a corporation or the government. I was perusing the world's new version of headlines this morning (Google Trends) and I found a funny one: "dithering definition". Why do American's want to know what dithering means? Because that's what former VP Dick Cheney accused Barack Obama of doing today!
Having announced his Afghanistan strategy last March, President Obama now seems afraid to make a decision, and unable to provide his commander on the ground with the troops he needs to complete his mission....
It’s time for President Obama to make good on his promise. The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger.
Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries. Waffling while our troops on the ground face an emboldened enemy endangers them and hurts our cause.
Now they seem to be pulling back and blaming others for their failure to implement the strategy they embraced. It’s time for President Obama to do what it takes to win a war he has repeatedly and rightly called a war of necessity.
America's most recent Vice President loves to throw stones at America's new President (even if his boss has so far stayed out of the fray). But why does he have to use those big words? What does 'dithering' even mean?
From Dictionary.com:
–verb (used without object)
3. to act irresolutely; vacillate.
4. North England. to tremble with excitement or fear.
There you go America. (I'm pretty sure we're looking at number 3 there).
Cheney's not the only one who thinks Obama is 'acting irresolutely' on Afghanistan, but the White House insists they're taking the time to do a careful study. One of the big variables in their planning will be the upcoming next round of Presidential elections in Afghanistan on November 4.

Our Vice President loves to speak his mind. And overwhelmed with the significance of passing health care reform, he wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to tell the President exactly what he thought about the momentous occasion: "It's a big fucking deal." Here's the video.
I love this moment because it seems so Biden. He tells Obama it's a big deal and that doesn't seem to get through, so he re-emphasizes with an f-bomb. Of course, we at Current have long known how footloose and fancyfree the Vice President can be with his boss. We've been following their relationship through the hard-hitting documentary series with the best access in the free world: "Supernews". Check out the job fair the two of them hosted, for example, in which the Vice President dressed as a clown and made fun of Canadians!
Luckily for Mr. Biden, everyone seems to adore his antics. We certainly do, and it would seem that even the White House Press Secretary is on board. He responded to Biden's newest gaffe/ROFLMAO with this on Twitter:

VANCOUVER - A mentally unstable man was reportedly able to get within a few metres of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden last Friday during opening ceremonies for the Vancouver Olympics.
Bud Mercer, the RCMP assistant commissioner who is leading the security unit at the Games, told CTV the man was using a fake pass when he was intercepted by security unit officers before he got near Biden.
But earlier, the man managed to fool the civilian screeners checking tickets and passes at an entrance to B.C. Place Stadium, where more than 60,000 people were watching the ceremonies.
The main security concern had been a demonstration by more than 1,500 anti-Olympic protesters, which was confronting police outside the stadium.VANCOUVER - A mentally unstable man was reportedly able to get within a few metres of... more

Recently reading a left-wing blog, I came across this lament. It is striking in that it conveys clearly the nature of the battle that is brewing throughout America. The blogger who goes by the handle of “Teacherken” wrote:
“Unless and until we can accept – even actively embrace – the idea of shared sacrifice and collective responsibility, unless and until we understand that we cannot hold on to some things we value in isolation from those we know have to change, we will not be able to make the kinds of changes we need to survive as a liberal democracy.”
Where to start? First, and most important, is the fact that America was never intended to be a “liberal democracy.” From Day One, we were a constitutional Republic. What’s the difference you say? A very big one.
The “liberal democracy” our friend so desperately wants, throws everyone into a pot and dictates government policy on the whims of a scant majority. As virtually all the founders observed, such a form of government means that a majority bands together to take from the minority.
Perhaps Benjamin Franklin said it best when he wrote:
“Democracy is two wolves and a lamb deciding what to have for dinner. Liberty is a well-armed lamb.”
The constitutional Republic our founders gave us was based on the rights of the individual. Government was restricted, in Jefferson’s words “chained down.” But thanks to people like the good Teacherken, those chains have been broken and the voracious beast that government easily becomes is now prowling the countryside looking for victims.
This condition didn’t come out of the blue, it was predicted. Vice President and Senator John Calhoun saw our current state of affairs very clearly 150 years ago when he wrote:
“To maintain the ascendancy of the Constitution over the lawmaking majority is the great and essential point on which the success of the [American] system must depend; unless that ascendancy can be preserved, the necessary consequence must be that the laws will supersede the Constitution; and, finally, the will of the Executive, by influence of its patronage, will supersede the laws.”

John F. Kennedy believed that being passed over for vice president by the Democratic convention in 1956 saved his political career. That year, Adlai Stevenson, the presidential nominee, had left the selection of his running mate to the convention delegates—the last time a nominee did so. The choice came down to Kennedy and his Senate colleague Estes Kefauver of Tennessee, who had lined up too much early support even for the attractive young war hero to overcome. In the end, Kennedy had it both ways. He benefited from the television exposure and was spared the blame—which as a Catholic, he would have shared—for Stevenson's walloping by President Eisenhower that November. As for Estes, except for crossword puzzlers, nobody much remembers him.
Running and losing for vice president has never been a promising route to the Oval Office. Yet Sarah Palin, even before this week's book tour mediathon, has been touted by some as the heir apparent of the Republican Party, if not its de facto leader. Right-wing devotees cheer her on, liberals writhe in fear lest she come within 3,000 miles of the White House, and the news media lavish her with attention that's out of proportion to her actual chances of a political future. In fact, only one defeated vice presidential candidate ever achieved the feat that Palin would like to duplicate, and to date she shows no signs of resembling Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
