This blog is remembering the life and death of Amy Winehouse. This 27 year old neo-soul singer’s personal struggle with drug and alcohol addiction was difficult to watch. For those who followed her, many hoped she’d kick her habit. Alas, it was never to be- another talented person gone too soon. This blog is remembering the life and death of Amy Winehouse. Formed at the start of the new Millenium by vocalist/guitarist Mark Randolph, The Mark Randolph Band were regulars of the Los Angeles music scene, playing their Classic Rock and Funk/Blues influenced music to a quickly growing fan base.
Drawing upon a kaleidoscope of influences -- rock, funk, psychedelia, blues, R&B, soul, indie rock, experimental and jazz -- Mark Randolph creates a body of work that is unpredictable, vibrantly rich in texture and bursting with ideas. This band is unquestionably a product of the media age – they masterfully synthesize the past and the present. If their musical style was impossible to pigeonhole, their true identity and roots lay in that underlying soulful and bluesy funk combined and textured with today’s new sounds.
Their debut album, Mark Randolph, beautifully blends the bands strong sense of groove, richly layered rhythms and emotional lyrics. Often these surreal, free-spirted lyrics are laced with deep visual imagery and a sardonic sense of humor creating a stronger and deeper impact to their adventurous and psychedelic music.
The Mark Randolph Band takes its love of spirituality and fuses these ideals into their eclectic music. They are devoted to a path of inquiry that leads to self-awakening, inner peace, acceptance and unconditional love. They have a lightness of being and don’t take themselves too seriously. “We recognize the limitations of our intellect and the wisdom of our hearts” The past does not exist. The future will never come. There is only this ever-changing moment. We groove, make music and flow with the NOW….

Producer WD4D offers a new take on the track “The Tea” from soul singer Choklate
(originally spotted at NuSoul Musings)
“WD4D’s first release of 2010, Post-Hyphy-Romanticrunk, finds him remixing some of Seattle’s best female talents. Choklate’s positive, self confident anthem, “The Tea” gets a big dose of the bounce treatment, while Lisa Dank’s ever so clever “Social Networking” gets some vocoded dial-up service. Last but certainly not least, the ladies of Canary Sing get an updated, glitched out slapper of a beat for their song “Freak Show”. For the DJ’s, MC’s, and lovers of all things instrumental; the beats have been included with this release as well. Enjoy!”Producer WD4D offers a new take on the track “The Tea” from soul singer... more

Suff Daddy and Miles Bonny strike gold yet again on their new single, “5 o’ Clock Suff”
Whenever Suff Daddy and Miles Bonny get together to do a track, you should expect nothing less than magic caught on reels. Here is the video for the track “5 o’ Clock Suff” which is from Suff Daddy’s upcoming album entitled The Gin Diaries. The track is a really smooth number that captures the feel of late night bar hopping with a few good friends. Suff fills the scene with playful keys, tweaked out Moog lines, and jazzy trumpets, while Miles soulfully laments about not wanting to go home alone at the end of the night. Great stuff peoples. Dig.
