As part of the ongoing White House v. Fox News battle, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace complained yesterday that “as they’ve done every week since August, the White House refused to make any administration officials available to ‘FOX News Sunday.’” On Fox and Friends this morning, host Brian Kilmeade tried to paint a contrast between the Obama administration and the Bush administration, telling former Bush press secretary Dana Perino, “not only did you not go after” networks critical of Bush, “you gave them interviews, as did the president.” Perino corrected him, however, saying that “towards the end,” the Bush administration largely froze out MSNBC:
KILMEADE: And not only did you not go after them, you gave them interviews, as did the president.
DOOCY: Sure.
KILMEADE: Gave them all interviews. Read Ronald Reagan’s diaries…
PERINO: Towards the end we didn’t do a lot with MSNBC. That’s, that is the case.As part of the ongoing White House v. Fox News battle, Fox News Sunday host Chris... more

Pat Tillman was the poster boy for the US war in Iraq. President Bush heralded him in life as a hero when the young American football player walked away from a multimillion dollar contract to serve in Iraq after the 9/11 attacks, and an even greater hero in death when Tillman was killed in Afghanistan two years later - until it came out that the Pentagon had lied to cover up that his death was from friendly fire.Pat Tillman was the poster boy for the US war in Iraq. CNBC anchor and reporter David Faber is my guest today. He’s the author of a new book, And Then the Roof Caved In: How Wall Street's Greed and Stupidity Brought Capitalism to Its Knees.
I’m very excited for David and his new book, but first we have some old business to cover.
He won’t remember this, but we met at the business channel’s Fort Lee, New Jersey, headquarters back in 2001 when I started writing a book called CNBC Profit Drivers. David was supposed to write the introduction.
AUDIO EXCERPT: "September 14, 2008--it was clear to me we were in the midst of something I'd never seen. You could take the three stories that occurred on that evening: AIG about to go bankrupt; Lehman Brothers going bankrupt; and Merrill Lynch being sold to Bank of America—each of those would have represented one of the bigger stories of a decade in terms of business news and they were all happening on the same night! There was nothing ever like it and there never will be anything like it."
The book was finished but never published—it was cancelled the week after 9-11—but you can read it in its entirety at profitdrivers.net. But it’s still missing an official CNBC introduction.
Now that I got that off my chest, let’s talk about And Then the Roof Caved In.BY BOB ANDELMAN

This week is when 99% of everything written on the internet starts with some variant of "Obama should..." and I'm such a conformist, I don't want to be any different. So here's my contribution: What Obama should do ASAP is appoint an Ambassador to Moronia.
Where is Moronia? You won't find it on any map, in the same way you won't find Funkytown, The Nation of Islam, or The State of Confusion in any atlas. Though it sounds like a physical place, Moronia isn't defined by a landmass covered with invisible lines that tempt humans to kill those living on the opposite side of those lines.
As you probably have figured out (if you haven't, you may be a citizen!) Moronia is The Nation of Morons.

A Hawaiian Chevrolet dealership setup a jacked-up Suburban to crush a vintage Honda Accord to send a message to anyone buying Japanese. The message became somewhat cluttered when the tiny Honda broke the SUV.
This was the best picture, and this is not even a Huge Media company who posted this news. What a coincidence? Maybe because all of the news media here in Hawai’i, are owned by large White American Controlled Corporations, whom censor many issues here in Hawai’i, many that do not make headlines like many other indigenous species around the world because of the Government and WACC (White American Controlled Corporations), just make that part up LoL? I just watched "The Big One" Michael Moore great documentary, This will make no difference and it is a stupid statement because America is the way it is because of corruption from the Office of the President to; The Federal, State, City, County, what ever form of entity you want to call it. Our Government allows MILLIONS OF JOBS to be outsourced to foreign countries. I BET this is what will happen next they get the money file for bankruptcies and move everything to CHINA, INDIA, MEXICO, and other third world countries possibly AFRICA and no it is POSSIBLE. Make a Change? Greed has crippled what’s left of America’s once Financial Dominance of the World, and cost its’ people countless disappointments.A Hawaiian Chevrolet dealership setup a jacked-up Suburban to crush a vintage Honda... more

The White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which would weaken government rules aimed at protecting consumers and the environment, before President Bush leaves office in January.
The new rules would be among the most controversial deregulatory steps of the Bush era and could be difficult for his successor to undo. Some would ease or lift constraints on private industry, including power plants, mines and farms.
Once such rules take effect, they typically can be undone only through a laborious new regulatory proceeding, including lengthy periods of public comment, drafting and mandated reanalysis.
As many as 90 new regulations are in the works, and at least nine of them are considered "economically significant" because they impose costs or promote societal benefits that exceed $100 million annually. They include new rules governing employees who take family- and medical-related leaves, new standards for preventing or containing oil spills, and a simplified process for settling real estate transactions.
Two other rules nearing completion would , a major energy industry goal for the past eight years that is strenuously opposed by Democratic lawmakers and environmental groups.
Deregulation being push by Bush includes:
1. easing limits on pollution from power plants, According to the EPA's estimate, it would allow millions of tons of additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually, worsening global warming.
2. easing limits on emissions from coal-fired power plants near national parks.
3. allowing increased emissions from oil refineries, chemical factories and other industrial plants with complex manufacturing operations.
4. clearing obstacles to some commercial ocean-fishing activities, such as catch limits
5. easing controls on emissions of pollutants that contribute to global warming
6. lifting a key restriction on mountaintop coal mining
7. relaxing drinking-water standardsThe White House is working to enact a wide array of federal regulations, many of which... more

President George W. Bush's apparent lack of understanding on tribal sovereignty is examined by Rev. Dr. Lynn Hubbard, executive director and co-founder of the non-profit Turtle Island Project in Munising, Michigan.
This video was made as Hubbard made two presentations on September 24, 2008 during the third annual UNITED Conference at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan.
This video is about infamous comments about Native American Tribal Sovereignty made by President George W. Bush on August 6, 2004 at the UNITY conference in Washington D.C.
President Bush was asked the tribal sovereignty question by Mark Trahant, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer Editorial Page Editor, a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe in Idaho and former president of the Native American Journalists Association.
Bush answered the question but that answer was so bizarre it caused journalists to laugh:
"Tribal sovereignty means that. It's sovereign," President Bush said. "You've been given sovereignty and you're viewed as a sovereign entity."
The conference involved about 7,500 journalists of color from the Native American Journalists Association, the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Asian-American Journalists Association
Hubbard said it's funny, scary and sad that President George W. Bush doesn't understand the important issue of Native American tribal sovereignty.
The Turtle Island Project thanks Democracy Now for the use of their video of President Bush's remarks on tribal sovereignty.

Release of Chinese Muslims Ordered
By WILLIAM GLABERSON
Published: October 7, 2008
WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the Bush administration to immediately release 17 Chinese Muslims and allow them to stay in the United States, ruling that they are no longer considered enemy combatants.
Federal District Judge Urbina called the detention of the 17 prisoners — ethnic Uighers, a restive Muslim minority in western China — unlawful, saying the Constitution prohibits indefinite imprisonment without charges.
Efforts to find a home for the detainees has been complicated by fears in many countries of diplomatic reprisals by China. In June, federal appeals judges issued a decision that ridiculed as inadequate the Pentagon’s secret evidence for holding one Uighur, Huzaifa Parhat, a former fruit peddler who said he had gone to Afghanistan to escape China.Release of Chinese Muslims Ordered

Senators have passed a spending bill that aids Gulf Coast disaster victims and subsidizes federal loans for automakers. President Bush is expected to sign the measure despite some reservations.
The $634 billion bill provides money to keep the government running until the next president takes office.
The 78-12 vote Saturday also lifts a quarter-century ban on oil drilling off the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. That's a big victory for Republicans.
The Democrats have once again caved into Bush's demands.
Republicans say ending the drilling ban should lower gasoline prices. Democrats say it won't mean additional oil production for years.
Then why did lift the ban?
The lifting of the offshore oil drilling moratorium does not mean drilling is imminent. But it could set the stage for the government to offer leases in some Atlantic federal waters as early as 2011.
The low-interest loans for automakers are intended to help the companies develop technologies and retool factories to meet new standards for cleaner and more fuel-efficient cars.
After hard lobbying, automakers won up to $25 billion in low-interest loans to help them develop technologies and retool factories to meet new standards for cleaner and more fuel-efficient cars.
The legislation also contains 2,322 pet projects totaling $6.6 billion, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, a watchdog group. That included 2,025 in the defense portion alone that cost a total of $4.9 billion.Senators have passed a spending bill that aids Gulf Coast disaster victims and... more

Sen. Barack Obama heaped criticism Sunday on President Bush's mortgage-bailout blueprint, calling it a "blank check" for the administration and Wall Street with insufficient safeguards for taxpayers and homeowners.
"If we grant the Treasury broad authority to address the immediate crisis, we must insist on independent accountability and oversight," Obama said. "Given the breach of trust we have seen and the magnitude of the taxpayer money involved, there can be no blank check."

WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE??? Bush continues to screw the American people!!
_____
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said on Sunday that foreign banks will be able to unload bad financial assets under a $700 billion U.S. proposal aimed at restoring order during a devastating financial crisis.
Yes, and they should. Because ... if a financial institution has business operations in the United States, hires people in the United States, if they are clogged with illiquid assets, they have the same impact on the American people as any other institution," Paulson said.
Paulson was appearing on the Sunday television talk show circuit to fill in some of the details of the U.S. government plan for a sweeping bailout to mop up hundreds of billions of dollars in toxic mortgage debt. The moves capped a week in which financial markets faced their most serious confluence of crises since the Great Depression in the 1930s and threatened national economies and the worldwide banking system.
