i was given this book while attending a bluegrass music gathering in northern california by the veterans for peace. it was amazing! it restored much of my faith in our great country at a time in my life when i felt despondent and betrayed by my government. his convictions and honor helped me to reconsile the turmoil i felt within. i.e. my patriotism and love of nation vs. my sense of betrayal by a government ran wild. between this gentleman and good ol' thomas jefferson you can see patriotism and love of nation can be responsible and humane.
please anyone reading this take the time to read this short online book. it wont take long.
and it just may be interesting reading for you!i was given this book while attending a bluegrass music gathering in northern... more

two emails i received of great importance to our nation.
Here we go again.
Rep. Steny Hoyer is leading a "compromise" on the FISA reauthorization bill that would ultimately let the Bush administration and their friends at AT&T and Verizon off the hook for illegally spying on innocent Americans.
Last night, this so-called compromise was voted out of committee and as early as this morning the bill may be brought to the House floor for a full vote.
Speaker Pelosi can still stop this bill.
As Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi can pull the bill from the floor and refuse to call a vote.
Call Speaker Pelosi right now and demand she stand up to President Bush and stop telecom immunity.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi
(202) 225-0100
Suggested Script:
"I'm calling to tell Speaker Pelosi I am depending on her to pull any bill from the floor that will ultimately grant immunity to telecommunications companies who illegally spied on Americans. Can I count on Speaker Pelosi to stand up to President Bush?"
PLEASE REPORT YOUR CALL BY CLICKING HERE
Speaker Pelosi has stood up to the President's fear mongering on illegal spying before, she can do it again. But she needs to hear from you to know where you stand.
Here is what Senator Russ Fiengold said about this bill last night:
"The proposed FISA deal is not a compromise; it is a capitulation. The House and Senate should not be taking up this bill, which effectively guarantees immunity for telecom companies alleged to have participated in the President's illegal program, and which fails to protect the privacy of law-abiding Americans at home."
Senator Leahy also made his position clear:
"I will oppose this new FISA bill when the Senate votes on it next week. We must do everything we can to protect Americans from the Bush-Cheney Administration's erosion of our civil liberties and callous disregard for the rule of law -- and this new FISA bill fails that test."
You and I remember that the Senate has passed retroactive immunity before. But working together, we can make sure that the Senate never has a chance to pass this bill by stopping it in the House today. Call Speaker Pelosi right now.
Thank you for taking action.

Myself I wanted Al Gore. Kuccinich, Edwards. Well they are not going to make it and I guess I will do the hard thing now. I will give my full support to Mr Obama. Although he was not my candidate of choice I do feel that he will be an excellent president (if we win) and can help get much of our nation back on track. Many of us may even be tempted to vote for Mr Nader or even ol' Ron Paul. Both seem like upstanding candidates to me too. But Gen. McCain WILL continue this war. He will continue our current Fascist agenda. He will on the good side NOT tie the hands of our generals and will provide them with the tools and intelligent leadership we need to conquer and subjugate the middle east. But honestly should this be our goal? Who is our ally that we defend in these wars? Why must our children learn the art of murder? Why do we for the first time in our history set reason aside and adopt openly the tactics of terrorism? Should generals and religious zealots be in charge of nations? If we do not unite behind Mr Obama we will vote in a religious zealot for a very capable efficient General. The kind we need defending our borders and allies, not subjugating the next colony's or securing our dependence on petroleum corporations over foreign oil. As a nation we cannot let our historical love of war and profiteering continue. Mr Obama will give us some hope. If we ALL unite and give him our all, America stands a chance of regaining her honor and self respect.

I have chosen not to vaccinate my children and have been scoffed at by some medical professionals not to mention some other parents while being praised by others. Now this is coming from the candidates are vaccines safe for our children in the quantizes that we as Americans administer them? The first vaccine is given within hours of birth Hep B, then at the first office visit 5 different vaccines are given to the newborn baby before their own immune system is fully developed, are we going overboard as Americans usually do. I tend to think of the standard vaccine schedule like the SUV of medical prevention, Bigger, better more more more. Are we just "buying" it because we are being fed the line to swallow?I have chosen not to vaccinate my children and have been scoffed at by some medical... more

so awhile back i was told about a new service. a free 411 call. that even works from a cell phone. i gleefully tried it out on my home phone.. bingo success. not an extremely effective or even user friendly call but eventually i got my number. later i tried it from my cell phone. yep. it seemed to work. i kept using it. then one time i noticed that although i dialed 1-800-free-411 on my cell phone and hit send, the number displayed next to calling was just simply 411. it turns out my cell phone company is hi-jacking my call re-routing it to their own 411 operator and charging me for the "convenience" what do you think? so awhile back i was told about a new service. a free 411 call. that even works from a... more
