Hi, how you doing?
This is an enhanced podcast i recorded at Kings University on November the 4th on US Election night.
I wanted to be part of what would be the most historic night of my generation, and now as a broadcast journalist i have the trained abilities to do something of it. I took my digital harddisk to Kings College Univeristy, to the Student Union bar, where nearly a thousand students were packed in watching the outcome of the elections.
I wanted to and have held back and released this enhanced pod, to remind ourselves how he got here. And what was on the minds of those of us, lucky enough to be around to watch it and be a part of it, and have an informed opinion on.
I hope you like it. God Bless and here's to a new better world.
**There are sections where the audio is quite low, i edited this on Garage Band, which is just notorious. Pro Tools all the way i say.Hi, how you doing?

Just when we thought the world was no longer laughing at us comes the news that Joe the Plumber aka Samuel Wurzelbacher will be a published author. As if Sarah Palin's media blitz weren't annoying enough, I'm wondering when his 15-minute clock of fame will expire. Unlike Palin whose book deal will reportedly be worth over $10 million, the uncertified and currently unemployed "plumber" signed a book deal reportedly worth $250,000 with Pearlgate Publishing to "co-write" Joe the Plumber - Fighting for the American Dream (vomit now). He claims all the big publishers had been courting him with more lucrative deals but he decided to go with the small Austin publisher (with just one book under its belt) to "spread the wealth around.". The book drops on December 1st for $23. Look for it in the bargain bins on December 2nd for $0.99. There has been hula dancing in Germany alongside rapturous rejoicing in Japan, India and Africa. In Kenya, the homeland of Obama’s father, November 6 has even been proclaimed a national holiday!
Crowds in countries al over the world gathered in the small hours of Wednesday morning to hear the results of the election via radio and television.
Thousands of Germans and Americans hit the streets and pubs of Berlin – some were wearing hula skirts whilst watching big screens around the city. A huge party on Unter den Linden, the grand boulevard in the German capital that leads to the Brandenburg gate, saw German politicians mixing with the joyful crowd and eating hotdogs and popcorn.
Joy and relief over the Obama win were expressed all over the country. Early on Wednesday at the US consulate in Frankfurt, groups of Obama fans were hugging each other through tears of happiness. MIAMI, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- A man accused of threatening likely Democratic Party U.S. presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama was in jail Friday after being ordered held without bond.
A federal judge in Miami ordered Raymond Hunter Geisel, 22, to be put in a federal detention facility, The Miami Herald reported. U.S. Secret Service agents allege Geisel made the threats during a bail bondsman training class last month in Miami and later at a hotel where the students were staying.

Recounting how his own Naval record — being shot out of the sky as a young pilot, his subsequent capture by the enemy and incarceration inside a North Vietnamese prison — has made him uniquely qualified to be commander-in-chief, Republican presidential hopeful John McCain told an audience of veterans that the Iraqi military will not be ready to take over security of their own country “until all of their fighter pilots have been shot down at least once.” [more]

John McCain has attempted to distract from Barack Obama's tour of the Middle East and Europe by attacking his foreign policy record. But he's failing to take the shine off the Democratic candidate in the US election. The Republican has a problem.
t was the ultimate humiliation for an author. The submitted essay didn't provide enough information, the newspaper wrote in its rejection. The article could not be accepted as written, the opinion page editor wrote.
The rejection came on Friday in an email and has only now come to light. The newspaper was the New York Times, and the luckless author was Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
These are hard times for him. Rival Barack Obama is scoring campaign points against him on his current international tour which has turned into the media event of the summer in the US thanks to good PR choreography, a backdrop of strong public support wherever he goes, and a favorable news environment.
Obama's brief visits to Afghanistan and Iraq, the backing of Iraqi premier Nuri al-Maliki (more...) for Obama's 16-month US troop withdrawal plan and the prospect of a rapturous welcome in Germany (more...) -- these are getting top media coverage in America and bestowing superstar status on the Democratic candidate.

Suzanne Kurtz, communications director for the Republican Jewish Coalition, spent her afternoon knowingly misleading -- if not downright lying -- to reporters.
On Monday, the RJC blasted out a press release calling on Barack Obama to "disinvite" Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) from his upcoming trip to Israel.
"If Barack Obama is getting advice from Chuck Hagel about Israel, then the American Jewish community has a lot to worry about," the organization's press release read, citing five examples of Hagel's "abysmal record on Israel."
The problem: Hagel isn't going to Israel with Obama. He and Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) are flying with the Illinois Senator to Iraq and Afghanistan, but not to Israel or Europe. The RJC should have known this, as it was already public knowledge. The UK Telegraph (among other outlets) reported:
"The senators [including Hagel] will be part of a 'congressional delegation' to Afghanistan and Iraq likely to travel to the war zones as early as the end of this week. Afterwards, Mr Obama will break off for a separate trip on his campaign plane to Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and Britain."
And yet, throughout the afternoon, the RJC continued to propagate what was, at best, something they couldn't confirm and, at worst, a lie. Contacted by the Huffington Post at 2PM ET, Kurtz stumbled and nervously laughed away questions about whether or not she knew her organization's statement to be false. She would not answer whether the RJC would retract it, saying only, "if we retract it, it will be evident."Suzanne Kurtz, communications director for the Republican Jewish Coalition, spent her... more

When is the most recent time a decision by a presidential candidate ended up being good for him and his opponent?.. That is certainly the case with Sen. Obama's decision last week to become the first candidate since public financing went into effect in 1976 to make the bold move of opting out of it. It's also a huge help to Sen. McCain. Hillary has been pounding Obama on his patriotism because of his association with Rev. Wright, Wright ’s association with Farrakhan, and Obama’s acquaintanceship with Bill Ayers. Hillary Clinton’s campaign deserves a lot of the blame for the rancorous tone that the nomination process has taken on, but the length of the primary season is also responsible.
