And in 47 years and 22 movies, they’ve all been blokes. In the equal opportunity 21st century, this begs a question: isn’t it time Bond was directed by a bird?*
Bond 23 is two years away. Regular writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have been hired alongside Frost/Nixon scribe Peter Morgan to craft a suitably incendiary, continent-hopping action adventure.
No director is attached. Used to be, they’d return for repeat business, but in the last two decades only Martin Campbell has sat in the Big Chair twice.
John Glen holds the record, with five, and it’s 20 years to the week since his last outing, Licence To Kill, opened – nearly slaying Britain’s best-loved filmmaking series.
The film itself is somewhat underrated: it’s a tense enough thriller and, hair aside, Dalton wasn’t a bad Bond. He was just a terribly grave one... all frowns and angst and inner turmoil. Daniel Craig take note: Bond needs to have fun.
So, discount the rumours which suggest Bond 23 will have a drug-themed plot, with 007 returning to Afghanistan for the first time since Dalton’s debut, The Living Daylights. It would be spectacularly ill-advised, given the real-world carnage over there, and Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson are not idiots.
Taste aside, they should also remember the lesson of 007’s screen history: don’t take Bond too seriously for too long.
Quantum Of Solace came close to navel-gazing on occasion and the iconic spy needs to become full-blooded again and not just through the odd one-liner – actions speak louder than words. The true Bond is professional, pathological and hedonistic: he adores his work.
So, if he’s to be brash, rash and go ballistic once again, why give the megaphone to a woman? Because the woman is Kathryn Bigelow and with The Hurt Locker she shows she knows what Bond is all about: adrenaline.""Ten directors have hollered “Action” on a James Bond picture.

Spoiler alert. Amazing that the one James Bond movie I have seen in a while would be one where corporate privitization of water would be the main plot. Needless to say I was interested to find out how it would end, and actually glad to see it addressed in a movie of this nature even if it was made to look fictional. Unfortunately, it is more in the realm of reality than some who see this movie may think. And if Hollywood now believes as well that water is the new oil, well, it must be true; and in this case they are right.Spoiler alert. Craig continues his hard-edged version of 007 in the Casino sequel. And it is a sequel. Where most Bond movies comprise of a brand new adventure, which merely features an occasional reference to a dead wife, an old arch-enemy or some other common theme, Quantum picks up right where Casino left off. Bond is going after the bad guys who turned his lover, Vesper Lynd, and ultimately killed her. It might be tough to follow if you haven't seen Casino Royale -- but see Casino Royale anyway -- then you'll have to see Daniel Craig do Bond again!

The latest sexy 007 Bond girl talks to BILD.com "The name's Kurylenko, Olga Kurylenko"

Her name is Kurylenko, Olga Kurylenko. Her mission: To be British agent James Bond’s latest stunning companion.
The 28-year-old beauty from the Ukraine had her biggest role to date in the new 007 flick ‘Quantum of Solace’, and she told BILD.com her experiences of the job and what she had to do to land it.
BILD.com: When did you get the news that you would be a Bond girl?
Olga Kurlyenko: I was having Christmas dinner with my friends when my agent rang. He congratulated me and said: “You’ve got the role; you’re going to be a Bond girl!” I didn’t believe a word and retorted: “It’s Christmas, no time for playing jokes on me. I don’t want you to ring me tomorrow and say that the filmmakers have changed their minds.” But it was totally true, they had picked me. I thought I was dreaming at first. I couldn’t believe what he had told me.
BILD.com: How did your friends react?
Olga Kurlyenko: They didn’t know that I had even gone to the casting.
BILD.com: Where you worried about not getting the part?
Olga Kurlyenko: Yes, I didn’t want to be too happy after the casting in case it then didn’t work out.
BILD.com: How difficult is the casting process for the role of a Bond girl?
Olga Kurlyenko: It’s very hard and long-winded. The castings lasted for two and a half months. The first one was in Paris, and then I had to go to London twice and each time act out a different scene. At every meeting there were more people who had to look at me and give their ok.

New 007 film 'Quantum of Solace' premieres in London. Who was the sexiest James Bond girl ever?
James Bond is back - and 007 just wouldn't be the same without a bevy of beautiful women on his arm. But who takes the title as the sexiest Bond girl ever?
'Quantum of Solace', the latest film featuring the British secret agent, had its premiere in London this week, and it reopened the debate about which of Bond's leading ladies is the hottest going right back to the first film, 'Dr. No', in 1962.
It's no secret 007 loves all women, blonde or brunette, and BILD.com presents the most desirable ladies the agent has encountered over the last 45 years.
Swiss actress Ursula Andress (72) went down in film history as the first ever Bond girl, while Kim Basinger (54) captivated Sean Connery (78) in the 1983 ‘unofficial’ Bond adventure ‘Never Say Never Again’.
Newcomers Olga Kurylenko (28) and Gemma Arterton (22) also rank highly amongst cinema fans - but it’s up to you to decide your favourite!

Jack White, lead singer and guitarist in the White Stripes and The Raconteurs, is apparently 'disappointed' with Coca Cola after the soft drinks company used an instrumental of his new Bond movie song in one of their adverts without his prior knowledge.
White's new song is a duet with Alicia Keys and was intended to be held back for the new 007 film, Quantum of Solace. To White's surprise though, it's ended up soundtracking an advert for Coke Zero.
In 2006, the White Stripes frontman actually penned a song specifically for a Coca Cola ad, defending accusations of selling out by saying he was interested in writing music in a new way.
"I certainly wouldn't want a song that I'd already written to be used on a commercial," he told the NME, "That seems strange."
