He rapes a woman and made bond, then he's out!
DETROIT (myFOXDetroit.com) -
Where is Shantee Brown? The 39-year-old from Detroit is accused of raping a woman at gunpoint eight years ago.
The woman was walking to work at Brush and Euclid east of Woodward in 2004. Police say Brown kidnapped her and at gunpoint, forced her into an abandoned building and then raped her.
A DNA match linked Shantee Brown to the rape. He was arrested in May 2012. Locked up in the county jail, Brown was freed in July.
Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway gave him a bond, just 10 percent of $250,000. Brown walked out of the county jail wearing an electronic tether. He was ordered to appear in court Thursday charged with rape, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and using a gun in a felony.
However, Brown was a no-show for his Thursday court appearance. That is because electronic data reveals Brown cut his tether off just before 2:00 a.m. the morning he was due in court.
Judge Hataway released the following statement.
"I am aware of Shantee Brown cutting his tether. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office and the GPS Tether Unit are conducting a search. I am recommending urgent apprehension of Mr. Brown."
Why was Brown allowed a bond in the first place? That same question was raised when Judge Hathaway allowed a bond for Jason Gibson. Gibson, a convicted felon, was arrested with a firearm. He was given a bond and wound up shooting and killing Detroit Police Officer Brian Huff. Gibson is now spending life in prison. He rapes a woman and made bond, then he's out! Bay county sheriff's investigators have arrested one of their own, charging him with the rape of a woman in Panama City Beach. Twenty-seven year old Benjamin Logue was arrested yesterday and charged with 1-count of sexual battery.
Twenty seven year old Benjamin Logue is no longer a Bay County Sheriff's deputy. He was fired Tuesday after his colleagues arrested him for rape. Investigators say the incident happened on June 9th, while Logue was on-duty. He saw a woman walking down the side of highway 98 in the Philips inlet area. McKeithen says Logue approached the woman, and told her to get into his patrol car. Authorities say Logue then drove to a wooded area, and force the woman to have sex.
Sheriff's investigators didn't find out about the incident until this past Monday, when an acquaintance of the woman came forward. The alleged victim was hesitant to report the attack, which doesn't surprise bay county sheriff frank McKeithen. "The person that they are supposed to trust has just violated them and it would be kind of hard going to a person wearing the same uniform that they are wearing", said Sheriff McKeithen.
When confronted by investigators, Logue supposedly admitted to having sex with the woman, but he claims it was consensual. "There are certain ethical boundaries that are written and there are also some ethical boundaries that are not written. The ethical boundaries that are written certainly have been violated by deputy Logue and in law enforcement we have some unwritten codes of ethics that we believe also have been violated", said McKeithen

The Queen has praised South Africa's journey of "democratic renewal" at a state banquet for President Jacob Zuma.
She told guests at Buckingham Palace that, since Nelson Mandela was freed 20 years ago, the country had achieved the mammoth task of transforming itself.
Mr Zuma, who is on a three-day state visit to the UK, said Britain had helped "free" his country. -
This would be so funny if it wasn't so wrong!
Everyone at this 'banquet' knows the real problems with south africa, and the fact that it's partly britain that forced it to be that way, jacob zuma is moving people from their houses onto the streets so he can build parking lots for cars for the world cup, is this democracy? is this a 'free' country.
South africa, although a beautiful country, is one of the saddest examples of what western power can to to a continent, and their mentality.
But guess our lovely sweet sovereign doesnt care about that, she was probably just hungry and wanted a bite to eat.

A would-be rapist fled Sunday night after he ripped off his victim's clothes and discovered he had attacked a man dressed as a woman, Athens-Clarke police said.
The suspect was riding a bicycle when he started stalking a 17-year-old walking along Bray Street near Fourth Street in East Athens about 6:30 p.m., police said.
The teen began to walk faster, but the man caught up to him, grabbed his arm and dragged him into some nearby woods.
The attacker started to take off the teen's clothes, tearing his shirt and yanking off his boots; he realized when he stripped off the teen's pants that the victim was male, too, police said.
The victim fought back, but his attacker kicked him repeatedly, police said.
The man ran when the victim's cell phone rang, but by then witnesses on Bray Street had called 911, police said.
The victim crawled from the woods and was sitting on the ground, crying in the rain, when police arrived.
The teenager only could describe his attacker as a fat Hispanic man who wore a gray hoodie and sweatpants, according to police.
The attacker will be charged with criminal attempted rape and false imprisonment if he's found, police said.
"It doesn't matter that (the victim) wasn't a female," Athens-Clarke Capt. Clarence Holeman said. "The suspect's intent was to commit rape."

The boyfriend of Baby Peter's mother has been attacked in prison.
Steven Barker, 33, is not thought to have been seriously hurt in the attack by another inmate at Wakefield Prison on Friday, a prison spokeswoman said.
Barker was jailed for 12 years for allowing or causing the death of Peter Connelly along with the boy's mother Tracey Connelly and lodger Jason Owen.
The spokeswoman said he had been treated in prison and the assailant was in the segregation unit.
Barker is also serving a life sentence, with a minimum term of 10 years, after being convicted of raping a two-year-old girl.

CLEVELAND — For the past few years, neighbors assumed the foul smell enveloping their street corner had been coming from a brick building where workers churned out sausage and head cheese.
It got so bad that the owners of Ray's Sausage replaced their sewer line and grease traps. Now they know the odor was coming from a three-story house next door where the decomposing bodies of six women were found.
A city councilman on Tuesday said he and other community leaders want an investigation into whether police and health inspectors missed any signs that could have tipped them off to the bodies inside the house where convicted rapist Anthony Sowell lived.
Councilman Zack Reed, whose mother lives a block from the area, said he called the city health department on more than one occasion.
"What happened from there, we don't know," he said. "It was no secret that there was a foul odor. We don't want to point fingers, but clearly something could have been done differently."
Police discovered the bodies Thursday after a woman reported being raped at Sowell's home. The 50-year-old Sowell is being held in jail on an arrest warrant, but he hasn't been charged in the rape investigation or in connection with the bodies. Cleveland police Chief Michael McGrath planned to give an update on the investigation Tuesday evening.
He is a registered sex offender and required to check in regularly at the sheriff's office. Officers didn't have the right to enter his house, but they would stop by to make sure he was there. Their most recent visit was Sept. 22, just hours before the woman reported being raped.
Reed said he can't imagine how police officers and sheriff's deputies could have missed the smell. His office records show that he called the health department in 2007 after a resident told him about an odor that "smelled like a dead body," he said.
One of the bodies was found in a shallow grave in the backyard. The rest were inside the house — one in the basement, two in the third-floor living room and two in an upstairs crawl space, said police spokesman Lt. Thomas Stacho.
The bodies could have been there anywhere from weeks to months to years, said Powell Caesar, a spokesman for the Cuyahoga County coroner.
All the victims were women and five were strangled.
On Tuesday, detectives brought in cadaver dogs and digging equipment to scour the home and backyard, looking for evidence to connect Sowell to the bodies, Stacho said.
Authorities also were searching vacant homes within a few miles of the home, which sat in a crowded inner-city neighborhood of mostly older houses. Police did not say Tuesday why they were searching the vacant homes or indicate whether they believe more bodies could be found.
Neighbors are bracing for what could be inside a boarded-up home across the street and a shuttered school a block away.
"We hope they don't find anymore," said Renee Cash, whose family has operated the sausage company for 57 years.
About four years ago, she and other workers started noticing a smell that was so bad on some days that it forced them to leave their office.
"In the summertime, it was gross," Cash said. "You could always smell it. It smelled like something rotten."
They poured bleach down the sewer in the basement and eventually had it replaced. Health inspectors thought the meat processing was to blame, she said.

Talk show host Glenn Beck is pursuing the owner of the domain name glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com, charging trademark violations and claiming rights to the domain. Now, the anonymous owner responds, telling an arbiter that "only an abject imbecile" could mistake the site for one of Beck's own.
Conservative yakker Glenn Beck hasn't (yet) been rounded up and sent to a secret FEMA prison camp, which has given him time instead to send his lawyers after the owner of the satirical glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com. Beck has reached deep inside to find a hitherto hidden well of respect and affection for foreign international organizations, and he has taken his case to the domain name dispute center at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. The site, he says, is defamation, and it violated his trademarked name.
But the anonymous website operator who has been targeted by Beck today stepped up, identified himself, and found a lawyer to file a response (PDF)—and what a response it is. How many legal documents have you seen that throw circumspection to the four winds and tell a WIPO arbiter that "only an abject imbecile could believe that the domain name would have any connection to the Complainant." And that's before the "HOMOSEXUAL BLOOD ELF" even makes an appearance.
Play him off, keyboard cat
Glennbeckrapedandmurderedayounggirlin1990.com turns out to be run by one Isaac Eiland-Hall. Eiland-Hall had discovered a Fark thread in which commenters picked up on a Gilbert Gottfried routine about Bob Saget raping and murdering a teenaged girl (it's, er, a bit funnier in context than it sounds [NSFW]). They adapted it for Beck to highlight what they perceived as his habit of forcing people to explain away completely baseless charges—as when Beck interviewed Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) and opened with this gem: "And I have to tell you, I have been nervous about this interview because what I feel like saying is, sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies. And I know you're not. I'm not accusing you of being an enemy. But that's the way I feel, and I think a lot of Americans will feel that way."
How better to give Beck a taste of his own medicine than by wondering publicly why he has never addressed the rumor that he raped and murdered a young girl in 1990? No one's saying that Beck really did it… but if he has nothing to hide, why won't he deny the tale?Talk show host Glenn Beck is pursuing the owner of the domain name... more

The Oakland City Council organized the vigil for the slain officers at 74th and MacArthur Blvd. and hundreds of people filled the streets to offer their support. Many held candles.
Several blocks of busy MacArthur Blvd. were shut down for hours so that people could come and sing and pray and hear from clergy.
The event was a peaceful one.
Most of the officers will have private funerals in their home towns during the week with an official funeral set to honor all four on Friday at 11 a.m. inside the Oracle Arena.
It is expected that thousands will attend the Friday service.
Capt. Paul Figueroa said officers from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Boston Police Department and other police and fire departments from around the country are expected to attend.
Speaking to reporters at a news conference at Oakland police headquarters, Figueroa became emotional after he said he's spent some time with the families of the slain officers and described them as "the most honorable folks."
The fallen officers are Sgt. Mark Dunakin, 40, of Tracy, Sgt. Ervin Romans, 43, of Danville, Sgt. Daniel Sakai, 35, of Castro Valley and Officer John Hege, 41, of Concord.
DNA Links Suspect to Rape Case
Also Tuesday, more details emerged about the man who police say shot and killed the officers.
A source tells NBC Bay Area that 26-year-old Lovelle Mixon had been tentatively linked by DNA evidence to a rape of a 12-year-old girl in Oakland.
The rape happened at MacArthur and 4th Streets in Oakland. That is within a block of where the first shooting happened.
It's not clear when the rape happened.
Police got the DNA hit Friday. The source says police had been looking for Mixon and had visited his grandmother's house Friday.
That news leads some to speculate Mixon knew he was "hot" and may have motivated him to fire at the officers Saturday when they pulled him over for a traffic violation.
Mixon was also an ex-felon who was the subject of a no-bail warrant for a parole violation.
On Sunday, Mixon's relatives said he was frustrated about not finding work and feared returning to jail.
They gathered at his grandmother's East Oakland home, where he had stayed on and off since being released from a nine-month sentence for a parole violation, family members said.
His grandmother Mary Mixon said she was were sorry for the families of the officers and added that there family was hurt as well.
One of his sisters told reporters, "He was not a monster."
Mixon had previously served six years in state prison for assault with a firearm during an armed robbery in San Francisco, the family said. While he was in Corcoran state prison, he married his childhood girlfriend, they said.
The Saturday shooting began just after 1 p.m. when Dunakin Hege pulled Mixon over on a routine traffic stop.
Mixon, who was wanted on a no-bail warrant for violating his parole and assault with a deadly weapon, shot both traffic officers, stood over them and shot them again, then fled to a nearby apartment complex.
Police called in a SWAT team, which attempted to enter the apartment, and Mixon began firing at the officers, killing Sgt. Ervin Romans, 43, and Sgt. Daniel Sakai, 35, and grazing a third officer.
Officers returned fire and killed Mixon.
Dunakin, Romans and Sakai were pronounced dead on Saturday. Hege remained on life support until early Tuesday.
