The message of hope, peace and love for humankind and the fact that life is a gift that must be treasured in Julien Drolon's "No More Divisions" is emphasized by the accompanying video which features Julien singing and playing guitar among dancing, smiling kids of Childhope Asia Philippines. Aside from these adorable boys and girls, the video also includes shots of Julien and his band mates performing in the streets of Manila, as well as beautiful sunset scenes that add to the tone and ambiance of the song. Julien captures your attention with the song as the acoustic guitar strums into a catchy percussion groove with hand drums. A positive vibe pop tune that's fun to listen to, "No More Divisions" has clever tempo changes, solid playing, and meaningful lyrics. "No More Divisions" is an inspiring track on its own, made even more amazing with the endearing content and exceptional quality of what Julien describes as "the first chapter in our musical adventure." Picturesque, positive and filled with joyful children, our future, the song and video speak to the hope of better days to come. The message of hope, peace and love for humankind and the fact that life is a gift... more

Today on Current Music, you can watch an exclusive clip from Jason Mraz's new live CD/DVD, "Beautiful Mess," filmed during his most recent stop in Chicago.
Jason is a performer who's gone from tiny coffeehouses in San Diego to headlining sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl. He's toured nearly non-stop for what seems like the past five years straight. (Next he's off to South America.)
His shows pack in a lot of things at once—radio hits, rarer b-sides, Jason-as-band director leading the audience in massive, extended singalongs. And not to sound like a total hippie about it, but they've got this vibe to them that even I—who will only ever set foot in jam band-land if dragged there by my wife—can't help but be all moved by. Plus he's got a hell of a voice that never quite shines as much in his studio takes as it does on a big stage he makes feel just like one of those tiny cafes where he got his start.
Check out jasonmraz.com for more music, tour dates and one of the best—and oldest—tour blogs from any musician in the business of spending life on the road.

Current Music interns cover for Peter this Friday with a roundup of their favorite cover versions. Stop doing work already, and let us cover for you.
Yim Yames, Behind That Locked Door
Yim Yames is actually Jim James of My Morning Jacket, and on Tuesday he released his digital EP "Tribute To.," an album of George Harrison covers, on his website. "Behind That Locked Door" is from Harrison's 1970 gem "All Things Must Pass." —James Risolo
Son of Dave, "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger"
Daft Punk’s “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” has gotten a lot of attention in the past couple years thanks to Kanye West sampling it and the infamous YouTube video “Daft Hands” (and all of its subpar clones). However, as the rest of music listeners were buzzing about those things, I just kept thinking to myself: man, this would really be perfect if that one dude from Crash Test Dummies decided to folk up this synth beat a la their bafflingly infectious 90s single “Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm.” Luckily, somebody with influence over Benjamin Darvill loves me. He performs as solo act Son of Dave now, and here he takes apart Daft Punk’s electronic hit, and then rebuilds it with acoustic sounds, looped perfectly just to prove to everybody that, yeah, he’s still got it. —Chanelle Johnson
The Kooks, “Kids”
The Kooks sat in the studio and listened to MGMT's original track as it played over the airwaves and then came up with this acoustic cover. I was skeptical about this track’s sound with only two acoustic guitars, but the stripped down feel seems to bring out the gloomy feel. The upbeat, more blissful tones are gone, resulting in a smooth and thoughtful cover. Luke Pritchard’s voice works really well. It might not sound too much different than the original, but the raw sound and emotion fit in with the darker feel of this acoustic version. These U.K. boys understand pop music, and this impromptu jam shows it. —Josh Middleton
The Vines, “Ms. Jackson”
This works surprisingly well as a rock number, but I wish the Hives would have sped things up a bit more. Having said that, their choice to take it slow highlights some redeeming qualities of the track. The chorus becomes a heartfelt cry for forgiveness, something I didn’t quite pick up on from Big Boi and Andre 3000. The Hives have some other Outkast covers out there that aren’t too shabby either, go find some good ones. —JM
Jason Mraz, "Three Little Birds"
I've had this tune stuck in my head thanks to a recent Panic at the Disco cover I heard; I won’t deny it. While that version is sweet, it also reminded me of Jason Mraz’s own tendency to play the Bob Marley hit live. Mraz has always had a strong voice and great stage presence. He demonstrates both for this number, but what’s really impressive is how much of the audience he gets to participate, up to and including their sloppy but enthusiastic whistling. This version tends to inspire me to do a little call and response of my own when it plays, but unlike Jason’s fans, the people I'm around in public tend to drown in haterade and shush joy music coming their way. Their loss. —CJ
Norah Jones, "Jesus, Etc."
You might not take Norah Jones fans for indie/alt-country types, but the crowd obviously got the reference when Jones performed her pared-down cover of Wilco's "Jesus, Etc." Despite the recent death of ex-member Jay Bennett, Wilco are still going strong. Their seventh album "Wilco (The Album)" debuted June 30th at #4 to strong reviews. —James Risolo The album will be available in stores on August 4th. —JRCurrent Music interns cover for Peter this Friday with a roundup of their favorite... more

Peter's off in South Carolina for a little summer R&R & BBQ, but luckily we've got a full house of eager and awesome interns here at Current Music. They're filling in this week with a selection of cover songs that all scream summer to them.
Antony & the Johnsons, "Crazy in Love"
Back in 2003, Beyonce blew up the charts with her summer anthem, "Crazy In Love," launching her into commercial success as a solo artist. Well, things have definitely changed since then. Antony and the Johnsons' take on the hit is much more subdued—there's such a resonant quality to Hegarty's vocals, which is pretty typical of the singer-songwriter who is known for layering melancholy on top of beautiful orchestral arrangements. In fact, Hegarty and crew are prepping a double A-side single of the bands "Aeon" and a recorded version of "Crazy In Love" for release later this summer. —JD Bray
Gnarls Barkley, "Reckoner"
I actually may be the only one in the world who likes this song as a cover better than the original. And that is saying a lot because we all know Radiohead has got their music stuff down (their version is also Vanguard's theme music). I think it's mainly Cee-Lo's raw voice that cuts to the bone. Thom's voice is beautiful but Cee-Lo's is
fresh in the most haunting and unconventional way. It makes me want to jump from tall buildings, or partake in dangerous jungle hunts. All in all, I like the way this cover makes me feel. And watching Cee-Lo in his white tee and gold cross necklace makes the experience just that much better. (Get more Gnarls Barkley at Current.com here.) —Amy Williams
Alan Pownall, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"
Everybody and their favorite Jonas Brother has either covered, parodied, or tried to do the dance to Beyonce's "Single Ladies," but I still dig Alan Pownall's acoustic, folk jaunt a lot anyway. Before this, he performed a cover of Kanye West's "Love Lockdown" that completely reimagined the instrumentation for the song. He does the same on this track, and then earns extra bonus points for not bothering to change any of the pronouns or imagery. I appreciate the gloss on Alan's lips and the man on his hips that holds him tighter than his Dereon jeans. —Chanelle Johnson
More summer covers, including Jason Mraz's "Summer Breeze," Belle & Sebastian, Ari Hest and Easy Star All Stars after the jump.
Jason Mraz, “Summer Breeze”
Before Jason Mraz wrote number one hits and melted tween hearts, he developed his craft in San Diego, Calif. Listening to Mraz’s cover of Seal & Crofts’ “Summer Breeze,” I imagine Mraz sitting on a San Diego front porch and thinking, “what is the most summer-y song I could possibly play?” Well, here it is! —Jon Jacobs
Belle & Sebastian, "A Minha Menina"
What better way to start off the summer than with Belle & Sebastian’s cover of awesome Brazilian Psych-Rock band Os Mutantes? It may not be summer in São Paulo, but with ever-growing popularity in the US, the Tropicália rockers will be releasing their first album in 35 years through Anti- Records in September. And be sure to keep an eye on Belle & Sebastian, who will be releasing the soundtrack to their upcoming movie (that’s right) “God Help the Girl” on June 23rd through Matador. —James Risolo
Ari Hest, “I’m On Fire”
Bruce Springsteen’s lyrical stories of blue-collar America evoke the memories of the construction work I’ve never done as well as summer road-trips through the country’s heartland. When I hear New York City based singer/songwriter Ari Hest’s cover of Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire,” I see America’s prairies whipping past my car, and I think about the year past, and all the possibilities for the summer ahead. If you like this cover, check out Hest’s covers of other classics like Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” and U2’s “With Or Without You.” —JJ
Easy Star All Stars, "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds"
The only thing better than the song "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" is the dub-reggae version by the Easy Star All Stars. When I listen to the Beatles I want to lie in my bed and question the meaning of life. When I listen to Easy Star's version I want to dance around my house, ideally in the nude. Both are great experiences but completely different. Easy Star has done the entire Sgt. Peppers album, along with albums by Radiohead and Pink Floyd. All well worthy of a listen to escape into the slow bump and grind dub that will melt your soul... —AWPeter's off in South Carolina for a little summer R&R & BBQ, but luckily... more
