The L.A. ART MACHINE (LAAM), in partnership with FIND Art Magazine, and STROKE Urban Art Fair (Munich & Berlin), is proud to announce the first annual LAAM International Urban Art Festival to take place July 15-17 weekend 2011.
The Festival pays homage to L.A.’s status as one of the street art & graffiti capitals of the world while presenting exciting programming for Angelenos and out-of-town visitors alike.
The event includes a juried exhibition, a curated exhibition, an opening gala, an awards ceremony, live art painting, outdoor installations, music, food, public murals throughout Los Angeles, performances, demonstrations, art tours, classes, panel discussions, and other forms of creative urban expression and discourse.
VOX HUMANA
An important component of the Festival is the Vox Humana program. Organized by the L.A ART MACHINE and curated by Bryson Strauss, Vox Humana is a program of carefully selected live art happenings and mural installations in the U.S. and abroad by celebrated street artists and muralists from around the world.
Founded in January 2010 and based in L.A., Vox Humana has quickly become a premier public art program with major installations in the U.S., Switzerland, and Germany by artists such as Mear One, Retna, El Mac, Kofie, Akut, Hera, Case and Chor Boogie.
Under this program and working closely with the city of L.A., handpicked artists from around the world are invited to create new murals throughout Los Angeles leading up to and during the Festival.
AUDIENCE
The Festival targets all ages, income levels, nationalities, and ethnicities with an event that provides for family involvement, arts and cultural education, and community outreach. The event aims to offer all Angelenos a rich and entertaining arts and cultural experience while also creating a major attraction for national and international travelers.
PARTICIPATION
Due to the strategic partnership of the L.A. ART MACHINE, FIND Art Magazine, and STROKE Urban Art Fair, and the important relationships with Sister Cities, the Goethe Institut and other cultural organizations, the global outreach for the Festival is immense. All of these organizations are heavily entrenched in the international art scenes and are recognized brands around the world. Combined with local partnerships with the city and other arts organizations, the synergetic potential is fantastic. Join us for this important and exciting event.
