A while back there was a report where in an interview it was claimed Live Aid money was diverted to rebels to buy arms. Though since then the BBC has apologised to the charity after the reports showed no evidence to support the claims made.
"The BBC's Editorial Complaints Unit found in its ruling that there was no evidence to support such statements and that "they should not have been broadcast".
"The BBC wishes to apologise unreservedly to the Band Aid Trust for the misleading and unfair impression which was created," it added.

The 'rape charges' against Wikileaks found Julian Assange were dropped by a prosecutor in Sweden. The article by the Guardian states the news of the charges were leaked to a tabloid newspaper in Sweden from the police, and the paper then printed a story saying he was going to be arrested.
"The Swedish Prosecution Authority today said an "on-call" prosecutor issued an arrest warrant for Assange late on Friday, only to see it revoked the next day by a higher-ranked prosecutor who found no grounds to suspect him of rape.[...]Sources close to the woman said that issues arose during the relationships about Assange's willingness to use condoms."-GuardianThe 'rape charges' against Wikileaks found Julian Assange were dropped by a... more

Coffee TV toured the Gulf Coast in July 2010 collecting stories about how the Oil Spill was affecting the lives of ordinary people. Driving along a highway in Gulf Breeze, FL on 7/15/10, we came across Scott Voytko, owner of an auto repair business. Because of the sudden drop in tourism, he had little revenue. BP had just denied his claim and he had no idea what to do. He said he and his family are about to become homeless. We followed up about Scott's situation w/ Darryl Willis, a VP of Resources at BP, after a townhall meeting in Biloxi, MS the next day.

BP is doing their best to do the worst possible job of fixing anything . Cutting claims because the paper work was not done correctly and other bullshit excuses people are told while they wait for some assistance . BP has enacted a broad new campaign called "Fuck off it's just a little spill" based on the "don't cry over spilt milk" theory of global devastation

This is a buzz about a guy named Jeffery J. Marksmeier who was severely burned, when he apparently leaned over a little too close to the pile of leaves he was burning and his T-shirt caught fire. He filed a law suit against McGregor and a company called Delta Apparel, Inc. but sadly lost over what the courts call a “statute of repose”. Delay, Deny and Hope That I Die. Sounds a promising title for a piece on the despicable scandal that is the U.S. Dept of Veterans Affairs (DVA). “Two wars and a recession have significantly increased the claims handled by the U.S. Dept. of Veteran's Affairs, slowing the large bureaucracy and frustrating many veterans,” reads the teaser. But watching the 60 Minutes segment, it looks like the piece got shut down, carefully crafted not to either name names or point to systemic failures other than vague references to culture and claims and some wars that had begun somehow.
If 60 Minutes looks like it lost its punch, not to mention rigorous fact checking, it’s because it has. What could have been a blockbuster was reduced to a limited hangout. The DVA was created and planned to fail. Does anyone really think you can wage war and pay for the damages?
The target of the piece, the DVA, is worthy of many hits, but 60 Mintues seems to have gotten into the protection racket. The military-industrial complex is safe and sound, but veterans are still screwed.;segmentUtilities

Who thinks exposing this Allstate model of claims adjusting is confined to just auto losses?
Just because this system was documented by an attorney who worked with Allstate auto and bodily injury claims doesn't mean its intent and implementation is not copied and used elsewhere by a majority of companies across all their lines.
Read how cleverly they use an entire indoctrination process and try so carefully to write it in a way that could be denied as being harmful or unfair.
However with the verbal instructions and hype that accompanies the insurance industry's effort to expose fraud and waste, they make their claims people and the public think that it is the rule rather than the exception.
There is no doubt in my mind that a similar internal plan mirroring this one in auto claims was what caused the Twodee thread about similar tactics. While that insurer may not have actually taken the life of her sister, they certainly made her fight against cancer a terrible ordeal. The insurer slowed down or completely denied proven treatments that could have saved her much grief and possibly her very life.
All of you who read this and know the tactics they use - please help by linking your own pods and threads that keep repeating what Americans deserve - a single payer system where profit does not dictate care.
The Iraq War alone, could have paid for a good start on a well-thought-out single payer system that was fair to all Americans. Who thinks exposing this Allstate model of claims adjusting is confined to just auto... more
